~
Narration: Sylvia woke up and looked around her room hazily. Her eyes trailed to her alarm clock and she jumped off her bed in alarm. She rushed into the bathroom, she was already thirty-five minutes behind schedule.
Narration: She walked down the stairs into the living room. She walked into the dining room and saw the whole family seated at the table ready for breakfast.
Sylvia: Good morning.
Dad: Good morning sweetie. Hmm, someone is ready for a second day at work.
Gramps: Why don't you have a seat let us have breakfast before you leave.
Ethan: She can't stay. She will have breakfast at the company.
Narration: Everybody turned to look at Ethan. Sylvia looked at him with a raised brow.
Ethan: What she was going to say it anyway. I mean she woke up about thirty minutes behind schedule.
Sylvia: He is so right. I have to leave. We will have dinner.
Dad: Alright, be careful and come home early. And I think you should meet Gran before you go. I think she will want to see you before you run off.
Sylvia: Alright.
Narration: Sylvia walked into the kitchen to see her grandmother over the sink dicing veggies.
Sylvia: Hey granny. Good morning.
Gran: Hey Sylvia, good morning. How was your night?
Sylvia: I over slept but it was fine especially after I had taken the milk. Is there anything you would want me to do for you before I leave?
Gran: no, I don't want to ruin your second day at work. Run along but be home for dinner.
Sylvia: yes, gran.
Narration: Sylvia walked out of the kitchen and past the dining waving goodbyes to her dad and brother. She opened the door, grabbed her house keys and walked out. She walked down the porch and flagged down a cab.
Sylvia: Marc's industries and fast.
Narration: The cab drove off into the street and out into the highway.
Narration: Sylvia was out of the car handing the man a dollar bill before he could even park the car properly. As she hurried to the building doors, she turned and to her dismay locked eyes with Marcus. She walked into the office and headed to the receptionist desk. Dropping her bag on the desk.
Receptionist: Sylvia right?
Sylvia: yeah, good morning. Where do I sign in?
Receptionist: just place your index finger there and it would read your fingerprint.
Narration: Sylvia did as she was told and packed her stuff.
Sylvia: thank you. Have a nice day.
Receptionist: same too you.
Narration: Sylvia walked up to the elevator and clicked the button. She walked into the lift and clicked for her department floor.
Dona: oh hey Sylvia, good morning to you.
Narration: Dona greeted as soon as Sylvia walked out of the elevator. She nodded a response and walked straight for her table. She sat down and placed her things then she turned to Casey's desk.
Casey: Oh hey girlfriend. How was your night?
Sylvia: fine, thanks for asking. I woke up pretty late for myself. What's up?
Casey: not much I hope. I don't think that I am ready for a heavy work today.
Sylvia: how exactly does this group work?
Casey: Well, we are pretty free only working when a work is assigned to us.
Sylvia: So you guys only wait for work. What if there is nothing to do?
Casey: Well, we spend the day making use of it the way we want to. Looks like you seem eager to work.
Sylvia: You have no idea. I feel kind of wasted.
Casey: Well, you are in luck. Any work that is being assigned to the team would be handed to you… you know as the newbie.
Sylvia: Fair enough; anything to get something working around here.
Narration: few hours into working time, the department doors opened and everybody rose to their feet to welcome the person walking into the department…all except Sylvia who was buried neck deep in the work that she was handed.
Narration: Marcus walked up to the bee of the department and watched her as she worked without any awareness of his presence.
Sylvia: Alright, Cole, I am done with this …
Narration: she slammed her body into Marcus solid body when she stood. He politely offered her his hand but she hit it away muttering all types of curses that she could remember about the person not being able to wait for her to walk past before moving.
Narration: the entire department watched in awe while Marcus watched her as she got up from the floor and packed the files that were in her bag. She looked up into the face of Marcus and looks around to see all the members of her department standing with their gazes fixated on her and Marcus.
Sylvia: you again.
Marcus: I don't think that is a good way to greet your boss in his own company. I could see that you were busy to know when I walked I in.
Sylvia: And you didn't bother to call my attention, instead you want me to make a fool of myself.
Narration: Marcus waved for the staff to sit down then he sat at Sylvia's desk then he looked up at her.
Marcus: have a seat.
Sylvia: please can you give me five, these files need to reach the HOD before it's too late.
Narration: Marcus watched her in awe as she walked away from him towards Cole's office. Sylvia dropped the files on the table and walked out the office to see Marcus still seating where he was before she went to drop off the files.
Sylvia: you are still here?
Marcus: don't sound too surprised. Before you leave, I want you to stop by at my office. I am pretty sure you will enjoy it .
Narration: Marcus stood up from her desk and walked out of the department after giving her a nod. Sylvia dropped into her chair and sighed.
Casey: he is so into you.
Sylvia: What is that supposed to mean?
Casey: the CEO, I am pretty sure he liked you or fancies you, I mean, it's not every CEO that sits in their employee's desk waiting for the employee to return from dropping the files.
Sylvia: you had better snap out of that dream. The CEO and I had met before I started working here… under bad circumstances so there is no chemistry that will exist between Marcus and I.
Casey: Wow, you both are now on first name basis, I am so not aware.
Sylvia: this is useless. I am leaving, see you tomorrow.
Casey: alright, be careful and don't forget to stop by Marcus office.
Narration: the duo chuckled and Sylvia walked out of the department.
