Sebastian had the best night of sleep since he came back to YD.
The press conference was an unexpected success-
Lynn praised him for being so brave and professional, and other board members were nodding with approval. He got to introduce Tim and Jackson to some other business partners of YD who were looking for interns, and Luna did a great job leading the media discussion to brand Sebastian as the young, honest CEO with a lot of potential.
His uncle- Victor, will also return from working in the international division after 1 year, meeting him after all these years.
Uncle Victor, Sebastian has always had a nice feeling about him: he was the only person who objected to his father's plan of sending him away at such a young age, and he tried to stuff Sebastian's pocket with money before he had to leave, although the money was quickly discovered and taken away from him.
Lynn was very excited about this long-awaited family reunion as well- this was the big news she wanted to share with Sebastian that day when she found him and Jen... Well, you know what happened.
But after yesterday, seeing Sebastian picking himself up in front of the press, Lynn had a new understanding of Sebastian's ability.
"You see, he was so crushed the first day he came back when we simply introduced him to Jen." Lynn said to other board members during their daily video call, "But today, in front of all those strangers who had no mercy doubting him, he was so mature. Even reminded me of my father."
Lynn's eyes were wet when she said this, the other board members had to agree with her, especially seeing Sebastian's short improvement.
A little more than one week, he turned from the angry boy who ran away from the meeting room, to this calm, sincere young man who explained himself in front of so many people.
Now Victor will come back, he always had a good relationship with Sebastian, everybody knew. He will also help Sebastian to get to know more about the world of business- don't get me wrong, he still had a lot more to learn, but he was at least making some progress.
Just when everybody thought YD would be ok when Jen and the rest of Team Sebastian thought they were worried for nothing, a random news article broke their well-deserved peace-
Young CEO of YD, admits that he is in fact incompetent, and has a secret relationship with his half-sister.
Under the title, a carefully selected photo of Sebastian and Jen was posted, zoomed in, the two of them almost overlapping in the frame, talking.
It was taken when they were both on stage when Jen told Sebastian that she was so proud of him.
It was clear to see that the photo was taken from a special angle, which means the two of them could have had a lot of distance from each other but that would not matter for the photo.
But the photo was not the most serious issue, the problem was that the news article claims that Jen is Sebastian's half-sister: but which half is she? Could she also be a rightful successor of YD?
"Jenny baby, wake up, you need to read the link I sent you," Luna screamed through the phone.
Jen turned off her alarm for the day because she needed some sleep.
Being woken up like this had brought all sorts of bad feelings up again, she stumbled out of bed, praying that it wasn't her photos "on the bed" with Sebastian that were leaked.
"Oh, half-sister? Which news is this from? Bad reporter, fake news."
She almost laughed when she saw the news, "This is so easy to deal with guys, just tell them they are wrong and I am Sebastian's friend/temporary assistant." Jen typed in her group chat called Team Sebastian, tagging him:
"Hey brother, did Lynn notice this news? She should really send this to the PR team and let them reach out to the news company, Burning Moon. How can the Moon be burning? Never heard of it. Also, maybe tell the legal department to send a letter as well, that could really show the future bad reporters that they shouldn't mess with you."
"Not so fast Jenny, did you actually finish reading it?" Tim responded so fast that it threw Jen off a bit, "Do you want me to come over? Are you ok?"
Jen got out of the group chat and started reading the article again:
"The young woman acting closely with the young, clueless CEO, is a woman named Jennifer, who is suspected to be his half-sister.
The young CEO disappeared from the public's eye when he was very young, the reason for him to go study at the best institution his family could find... But sources informed us that he was sent away to avoid rumors related to his late mother, or was she still alive?
Sebastian Day's mother had always been a secret for the YD family, they did provide a DNA report to the public to show that Sebastian Day was indeed a rightful successor of the YD wealth, but no information about his mother was ever revealed...
Given the information provided by this reputable source, we believe that Sebastian Day's mother is also Jennifer's mother, a woman who passed away a couple of years ago in a car accident named Joyce.
To know more about their family secret, follow up on the exclusive stories brought to you by the Burning Moon."
"What a bunch of nonsense." Jen thought to herself, "My parents were high school sweethearts and I was their only child. They spent almost every minute together since they were just kids."
Jen still hadn't received any message from Sebastian, so she decided to call Lynn on her own.
"I will just have to ask her to deal with this one faster, I don't want anyone to damage my mother's name."
But before she could find Lynn's number and call her herself, she received an emergency call from an unknown number:
"Jen, I am sorry, this is Lynn. You have to come here, now, Sebastian is in the hospital and he wants to see you."
