"You are just like what they said." Victor's tone was filled with admiration and surprise- the good kind.
He pulled the chair and asked Jen to have a seat:" I am so sorry to scare you like that. But didn't you wonder why the security was so nice and helpful? The YD training didn't tell them to just let anyone in, at least not without checking their ID." Victor said, laughing.
"I can kinda see it now." Jen was calming down after the chase, "Your eyes. Sebastian has the same eyes."
The kind, bubbly eyes that Sebastian likes to hide by not making eye contact. But Victor seemed so friendly that Jen never imagined him to be from the YD family- she wouldn't even think this man had any money.
"Sir, I am sorry, but you look so... normal. Compared with the rest of YD."
"Hahaha, you mean my sister isn't very normal?" Victor was laughing and slapping Sebastian's legs, "I like this girl, she is funny and very smart."
"No, I don't mean that. Just that you seem, so sweet and approachable. And also, you are like Lynn. You two are both good actors. She just pranked me this morning."
Jen felt like her throat was drying up from the chase, so she took Sebastian's cup and started drinking from it: "Sorry, I will wash the cup and get you more water later but I think I'm gonna have an asthma attack soon."
"Water can't fix asthma, but sure, just drink, it's ok." Sebastian was visibly happier after Victor showed up.
"So I have heard that you two are dating." Victor didn't waste any time and started gossiping before Jen could finish the water.
"What? Who said that? Which newspaper again..." Jen got very defensive and wanted to deny it as fast as possible, but Sebastian had another plan.
"Why, do you have any objections?"
"Oh no, don't get me wrong, I just want my baby boy to be happy. That's why I put on the act to see if this is actually a good girl- a nice, kindhearted person is hard to find these days." Victor winked at Sebastian then looked at Jen,
"But you two are still young, I have heard that you are already living together. You need to be careful... I don't think your dad ever gave you the talk, did he? So you see, here is the thing..."
"Enough! Enough! I have had enough YD pranks today. Victor, if you don't mind me calling you that, please enjoy your time with Sebastian, I will leave you two to it now."
Jen felt like the water she just drank was going to come out of her nose, so she quickly stood up and prepared to give these two some room to talk.
"Please, take the car back. I will ask someone to drive you." Sebastian insisted. If Jen had said no, he would probably have gotten out of bed and personally sent Jen back.
"Sure, I am really tired now from the run." Jen felt like she was exhausted.
"See you again soon, Ms. Jen. What is your last name, Jen?" Victor said while reaching out to give Jen a handshake.
"I don't really like my full name, just call me Jen, it's ok." Jen smiled and left the room.
"Mysterious, huh, didn't know you like this type." Victor moved to the chair and smirked at Sebastian.
"How long have you been back, Vic."
"Oh, only a couple of days, but I had to deal with some things first, you know. Always so much to do. You will very soon experience the same thing, my little boss. I am so glad to see you again."
It had been 5 years since Sebastian last met Victor.
Victor is the youngest child of the family, Sebastian's only uncle.
His dad's generation had only three kids, Vincent, Lynn, and Victor.
As the younger son of the family, Victor was always seen as the baby of the entire YD universe- everyone loved him for his cute personality and fast-thinking skills. While Sebastian's father Vincent was the charming businessman who always spoke for the family, Victor was the practical man who spent a lot of time checking out the real competition- once he spent half a year working at a construction site in Cape Town just to know the real market condition of their new project.
Not that that type of work was necessary, Victor loved the experience- if he could choose, he would never want to be rich, he rather become a traveler or a street artist who gets to meet more people and see their most natural reaction.
This is why, from a young age, Victor made it clear to the board that he had no intention of participating in big decision-making- he wanted to be a normal worker of YD. A business developer, like a freelance one, so that he would have more time to discover life.
The only reason why Victor would come back from his project was to see Sebastian- his only nephew whom he had always loved and cared for.
"Too bad you are not my son." Victor had always said to Sebastian, "I would never let you go." Victor was the only person who objected to sending Sebastian away at such a young age.
And to Sebastian, he had wished many times that Victor would become his father- he gives the best hugs, he cared about him, he wanted him to be "just Sebastian" and not the future candidate for YD CEO... He was his family.
The moment that Victor opened the door, Sebastian saw hope again- now not only does he have Jen, he also has friends, he has his family.
"So, tell me more about Jen."
