Jen was quiet throughout dinner, there was not a lot of time left for her.
Victor was leaving the city in 2 hours and he needed an answer- a promise that Jen would give him time, and stick by Sebastian until Victor had an answer.
"Dinner was lovely, thank you," Jen said politely, "If you don't mind, could I go take a walk in the garden, to get a moment of myself to think things over."
"Of course, Jenna, I understand that I am not asking you to do us a small favor, you will indeed be dragged deeper into the YD drama. Take your time, if you want, we can also discuss this when I come back." Victor's voice is oddly comforting.
Jen avoided making eye contact with Sebastian, walking into the garden.
Under the moonlight, the flowers didn't look as stunning as the first sight; but their fragrance was following Jen around.
"Jenna. It has been a long time since someone called me this."
Jen always knew that her mother Joyce had a lot of friends- she was born into a loving family, her grandpa owned his own delivery business back in the day, and her mom Joyce as the only daughter was always seen as the little princess.
"Maybe Grandpa did some business with YD, that's why Lynn and Victor both knew my mother." Jen didn't want to think too much of it.
What should she do? Jen was born to be a curious person- she always wanted answers.
When she was younger, she once stood under the hot sun for half an hour just to see the ants move back a piece of bread- she almost got sunstroke because of that.
She wanted to know more about her mother Joyce, how she was as a child, and why she lost all contact with Lynn and Victor.
She wanted to see if she was wrong for trusting Lynn, and she wanted to see Sebastian succeed.
But she was understandably scared- someone had been following her, even to her apartment, when she was out with her friends.
"Are they okay? Are they also spied on by someone, whether it is Lynn or someone else?" Jen couldn't help but worry for her friends.
Victor's garden was so big that Jen almost wandered out of Sebastian's view.
"Is she going to be ok?" Sebastian asked, nervously, squinting his eyes to try and see better.
"She will be, and she will say yes," Victor answered with certainty, "She is her mother's daughter."
Jen thought she would walk the whole way around and then get back to the balcony, but she saw a sculpture standing not far from her- is that the artwork of a goddess?
The sculpture was surrounded by flowers, it looked almost like a memorial.
Jen walked closer to take a look- this might actually be a goddess.
The sculpture was made based on a beautiful young lady, she was wearing a long dress, shoulder-length hair, and a beautiful smile.
Jen was having a deja vu moment- as if she had met this lady before.
Who is she? Was she an actress? Or someone from Greek mythology?
Jen walked around the sculpture to take another look while procrastinating to give her answers when she found a small plate next to the sculpture.
The night was too dark for her to see, so she took out her phone to use the screen as another light source:
"To my one and only love who was taken too soon from us. Forever, Rosa."
Rosa...
Rosa?
Why is this name so familiar?
Jen started searching in her memory, and suddenly, it clicked-
Jen felt like the world had stopped moving, she turned around and quickly ran back to the balcony.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Her eyes were filled with tears, "Is this why this place is called Rosa Land? Is this where she was buried?"
Victor was quiet, but Jen knew the answer. Sebastian didn't know what to say since he never thought too much of that sculpture: "Who is? Someone is buried here?" He asked.
"And the answer is yes." Jen ignored Sebastian and wiped her tears off with her sleeve, "I will stay here from tonight. You can get it arranged right? Ask a couple of people to help me move here."
"I also have some conditions," Jen said to Victor, who had been listening without a word, "Sebastian, now you really have a deal."
