Chapter 19 - Does he like her?

Heidith didn't pay attention to Derek's words at all. His heart was already in a turmoil. Without speaking, he sped up his steps in order to escape from that annoying bug.

Derek saw his friend giving him the cold shoulder and naturally stopped following him. With a dark face, he unhappily watched their disappearing backs. 'Humph! He ignored me!!!'

The prince reached the royal castle that belonged to the royal family and paused in his tracks for a while. He thought for a few seconds and decided to bring her to his chamber instead of her own.

Although he could deliver her to the maids and rest assured, he didn't want to. His heart throbbed hard in fear. He could only feel at ease if he watched her over.

Eventually, he reached the guests' room especially prepared for him and put the girl on his gigantic bed before covering her with a blanket. He then stared at her, his heart ached when he saw her pale, bloodless face.

Under the dim candle light, the girl who dressed as a man, laid down on the bed, he eyes closed. Her long, curvy eyelashes fluttered softly, and her brows knitted, indicating how uncomfortable she was.

Not daring to delay anymore, Heidith quickly ordered one of his knights to go find a maid and bring her to his chamber.

Heidith had three knights to protect him 24/7. They divided their daily task to three parts and protected him like a shadow. Because of that, they were called shadow knights. Suzamine, Gronald, and Iven were his three shadow knights. They were loyal and they'd sweared to protect the prince until their last breath.

This time, Iven was the one on night duty to look after the prince.

He was slightly surprised but nodded without showing any emotion. He knew that the prince secretly met with... Ehem... A young man but he knew his limits. He wouldn't dare to ask questions. He could only pretend to be nonchalant. However, he was worried. Prince Heidith was their king's one and only child. What if he was really a gay...? Then what would happen to the royal bloodline?

Thinking of it made him shudder in fear and frustration!

Why did he ask for a maid by the way?

To do a threesome?

Shit! Was he bisexual?

At least it was better than being gay.

Heidith, who had no idea of his knight's wild thinking, returned to his room and sat on the edge of his bed, his eyes falling on the girl's face again. He didn't know what to do. Should he call a physician as well?

Unfortunately, Iven had already vanished and his other two knights were at the party or maybe sleeping. He didn't have anyone else to seek help and adding the fact that he only had male servants and they were all at the party, he felt even more distressed.

His large palm covered the girl's forehead which was covered in fine sweat. He could sense her forehead was a bit hot. He quickly soaked a tiny towel in water and gently wiped her forehead.

Then he rummaged through his books and found a book that contained some healing methods for day-to-day illnesses.

He preferred to bring different kinds of books with him whenever he went out and gladly it came in handy.

He heaved a sigh of relief when he saw the topic, 'Women's monthly bleeding/Period.'

The passage started with "First of all, this isn't an illness..."

Heidith almost rolled his eyes. If it wasn't an illness, why would the ice cube princess pass out like that? Even her face was so pale and she looked so pitiful. Humph! He thought of reading the entire thing anyway. But... he must order the writer to change the first sentence in the future.

Unfortunately, the author of the book had died twenty years ago.

Shira was taken aback when she heard the knight's request. She knew very well that the prince had male servants only. Besides, because of the men's party, he was most likely to be drunk at the moment. So... He might want to spend the night with a female companion...

Her heart started beating violently.

Even if it was just her pure luck to be chosen by him, she was still so happy. She quickly dressed up as much as she could. If she was even more fortunate, she would get pregnant and provide a heir to the Rodwef family. That way, she could get a promotion to become his concubine and she would live the rest of her life blissfully and prince wouldn't forget to visit her frequently. Just thinking about it, made her face blush.

She would gain her fairy tale ending...

The prince would even forget his lawfully wedded wife and fall in love with his beautiful concubine. It didn't matter whether the person was the queen or just a mere mistress, who could capture the prince's heart would be the one to live the most beautiful life.

Maybe she could be the queen mother in the future as well...

Queen mother... This title alone made Shira burst out in excitement. Her son would protect her from the vicious former empress.

The former empress would be Princess Zadhea. She remembered how she served the princess with food one day. She remembered the way she swallowed her saliva while watching the princess eating. She was so envious at that time but now... The princess will be the one to get jealous.

Let's wait and see...

Shira silently followed Iven to the Prince's chamber. When they approached the entrance, Iven left her alone and disappeared into the darkness not daring to interrupt the prince.

Heidith let Shira inside and ordered, "Change her clothes..." He hesitated and said, "...She is on her period."

Shira blinked her eyes, confused and carefully glanced at the young man lying on the bed.

"Is-isn't he a man?" She stuttered nervously, fearing that she might offend the prince.

Heidith shook his head and went towards the girl before carefully removing her mustache and wiping her makeup using the wet towel he had prepared before, a gentle smile subconsciously appeared on his face.

"It's Princess Zadhea. Treat her with respect."

Of course, Shira could recognize the princess the moment Heidith removed her mustache and makeup. Her heart filled with envy.

Clenching her fists, she lowered her head and said, "Aye, sire."

Then she realised a problem and kept lowering her head, whispering, "Your highness, I didn't bring any clothes."

"Do you at least have a small brain? How could you come empty-handed?" Heidith snapped angrily. "Are you a baby?"

"I'm sorry, sire. Please forgive this lowly servant!" Tears welled up in Shira's eyes as she wailed and knelt in front of him miserably.

Heidith's anger reduced a bit. He was the one to forget to convey the message clearly after all.

Thinking like that, he waved his hand. "Nevermind, you go away."

Shira left his chamber with a heart filled with sorrow.

Heidith called out to Iven again. This time he explained everything clearly and asked him to bring two maids and a physician.

Iven looked at the girl in the corner of his eyes and quickly looked away. He was secretly happy and relieved. He even wanted to smack his own head for thinking too much.

Wait! It seemed like the two of them had an ambiguous relationship. Even if they didn't, he could still see that how much the prince cared for princess Zadhea.

It was the second time they met. Was he already in love with her?

But how?

Was it love at first sight?

Iven didn't think so.

Then how did and when did he fall in love with her? Was it love or was he doing it as an obligation? No, no. If he thought of her as a responsibility, he would definitely send her to her chamber. Why would he bother to bring her to his own? He definitely had a liking towards the princess!

That night, Zadhea felt a warm palm covering her stomach. Her uneasiness faded away and she slept peacefully without nightmares.
