Chapter 5 - First Day at the Academy

A knock on his door woke up Vincent. He groggily got out of bed and opened the door. A maid was there waiting for him.

"Good morning. My name is Greta. I have been assigned to you as your maid from this day forward." "Nice to meet you, Greta. Is there anything you need from me?"

"I was told to wake you for school. Thankfully, they will be lenient on you because of your situation, but I advise you to wake up at least an hour early." Vincent was confused but saw he had new mail in his inbox.

[ I am Lord Grimm. I am your adopted father, and you will attend the academy from now on. Your uniforms and clothes are in your closet. Your identification information is in your dresser next to you. Have a splendid day, and we will have a family meeting tonight. You will be there. Do not forget to choose a training weapon; you will need it.]

Vincent closed the message and rolled his eyes. "Greta, give me a moment to change. I will be right on out." Greta bowed her head and moved away from the door. "I guess I won't be sleeping in today." He went towards the closet, and the door opened by itself.

The 'closet' seemed as if it was a one-bedroom apartment instead. He found the section labeled as school. He put on the uniform. It consisted of a jacket, shirt, tie, and pants. 'Thankfully, I learned how to tie a tie.' Once he was done getting dressed, he found the training room.

Vincent stopped in his tracks as he looked at all the weapons on the wall. The weapons seemed to range from ancient China up to the modern age. Vincent shook himself out of his stupor and looked for the halberds. He wanted to learn to wield one since he recently gained a beautiful yet deadly one.

He found it organized by alphabet. 'How helpful.' He tried to pick up the one nearest to him, but it wouldn't budge. He tried the next one, then the next, then the next... It wasn't until he stumbled upon a plain-looking one that he lifted it. He found it was easy and that it felt natural in his hands.

He grabbed a bag on the way out to store it. Greta looked at him in confusion. "Is there something wrong, Greta?" "No, young Lord Grimm, I was just curious as to why you were carrying your weapon instead of storing it inside your inventory."

Vincent palmed himself in the face. He thought about storing it, and it disappeared.

"Thanks, Greta, now let's get a move on."

Greta drove him to the academy. "Thanks for bringing me here. You can call me Vincent, not young Lord Grimm." Before she could respond, Vincent got out of the car and proceeded to the principal's office.

Vincent found his way to the principal's office by following the signs and asking for help. He knocked on the door and was called in. Vincent's first thought was not something he should have been thinking about.

'Man, she is so beautiful. Why is she a principal and not a model? Better yet, a movie star?' The principal was a woman with red-orange skin, brown freckles, and enormous purple eyes. She had a tail. She looked up from her paperwork and cleared her throat.

"Thank you for your generous comments, but remember, I am your new principal." Vincent wanted to apologize and explain he meant nothing offensive towards her, but she stopped him. "Do not worry, Mr. Grimm, you are the first, and you surely will not be the last. Now, have a seat."

Vinect sat down and waited for her to finish her paperwork.

To prevent himself from further embarrassing himself, he thought of the lullabies his mother used to sing to him.

"Ok, I am finished with that pile. Allow me to introduce myself formally. My name is Wilhelmina, but everyone calls me Principal Mina. Are you clear on that?" "Yes, mam crystal."

"Introduce yourself." She made a gesture to hurry him up. "My name is Vincent James Frost." Mina's eyebrow raised. She glanced at Vincent's papers and saw Grimm. "I know the paper says my last name is Grimm, but my last name is Frost." Mina smiled and didn't correct him. "Very well then, Mr. Frost, are you ready for the tour."

Vincent smiled and responded by nodding his head.

Mina stood up and escorted him out. "The academy was founded over ten thousand years ago. It is the foundation of most Staple City guard and army elites. We have over 20 training rooms, 35 shooting ranges, over 1500 meditation rooms, and last but not least, we have the biggest collection of skills to choose from."

Vincent's eyes grew more expansive and round as she showed him the academy. "I know this is a lot to take in with your circumstances, so the only class you will have today will be physical training for the unawakened."

She entered the training room, spoke with the instructor, and left. The instructor grunted and made the gesture for Vincent to come over.

'Ok, first day at a new school, on a new planet, and a new family to meet. Nothing to worry about.'
