Third person POV
Shortly after, two of Akira's cousins from his father's side, both teenagers named Ezra and Ava Cruz, approached Akira and Hachi and said their greetings to them. Akira and Hachi heard and looked at them.
"Oh, hey guys!" Akira greeted them back nicely. "Kamusta ga genki desu ka?"
The language Akira spoke is called Taja, a Creole and pidgin-based language of Japanese and Tagalog. This mashed-up language was originally spoken by Filipinos who were refugees in Japan after the start of the Great War of 2048. But over the decades, especially after the Great War had ended in 2051, this language was now spoken by those who were children of Filipino refugees and their Japanese spouses. Even so, that language was also offered in most schools in the country as an optional and extracurricular language. This language was commonly used in spoken form, but in written form, the Latin script was often used. It is also a speaker-dependent language, meaning it depends on the speaker's knowledge of its grammar and vocabulary, so it is a flexible language in terms of grammatical structure.
"Oh, hai, we are, po," replied Ezra back. "And you?"
"I am doing fine, too!" Akira happily replied.
Ezra and Ava, who both have black hair and green eyes, then looked at Hachi, who was silent.
"Oh, you must be Hachi Shimuzu, right?" Ava asked.
Hachi was frightened a bit and responded shyly, "Yes, it's me. Nice to meet you."
Shaking his right hand fast and short, Ezra responded back nicely, "Hajimemashita, Hachi-kun! My name is Ezra Cruz, and this is my youngster sister Ava."
Hachi was frightened a bit and said as calmly as he could, "Yes, nice to meet you, too."
Akira then reminded his two cousins about Hachi's distrust of people because of his traumatic past as a failed experiment for Kara Tech.
Ezra and Ava were taken aback and got that, sympathizing with Hachi in response.
Hachi felt understood by them.
Not long after, since it was still morning, Akira, Hachi, Toshi, and Htet had barely any breakfast. The four of them only ate gas station food on their way to Okutama. So, the four of them had breakfast, eating the catering-style food. The blowing of the birthday candle on the birthday cake by Akira will occur after breakfast. The morning and noon will be spent spending time with the family, so most of the guests, including the Filipino soldiers, will return to work later in the afternoon. The breakfast service was great, with everyone in the house eating, drinking, and chatting with each other in high spirits. But there is one person who would make fun of Akira and will regret that later on.
