Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

🎶Sia–Alive🎶🎵

Selene.

The gates to the dungeon pulled wide open and the angry looking male behind them shoved them in forcefully. Selene contemplated the events that had happened, trying to understand what she'd felt the moment she saw him. A wild scent filled her brains and shook her very being. Jasmine, sandalwood and moss. She gasped from the shock of it, her heart beat quickening. His eyes bulged in surprise as he stared right at her.

The heavy silver collar had hindered her strength- yes, but it hadn't stopped her heightened senses from working properly, unable to shake off that unmistakable feeling. He could never be! Not when he was a lycan!! It had never being heard of!!!

Maya touched her shoulders, snapping her out of her train of thoughts.

"Their alpha looked distressed when he stared at us." She said, her face contorting into an unexplainable expression.

"He isn't as distressed as I am! I mean, who would want to mate with their–" even as fury coursed through her, she couldn't mention the part that the stranger had been her mate. How could she tell anyone? He was a lycan and she was a wolf shifter who belonged to no neither a pack nor clan. The thoughts of what fate had in store for her sent a panic jolt through her chest.

Maya eyed Selene wearily. Her eyebrows rose, "mate? What do you mean?"

She blinked, her mind working in more ways than one to come up with an excuse for the words that had accidentally slipped her mouth.

Mumbling incoherent words under her breath, she spoke. "It's–it's nothing. Don't worry about it."

Maya stared intently at her for a few seconds, knowing her curiosity still persisted, she sighed. "Okay."

"Now we need to figure out a way to leave this place."

"I know we're locked up here but, it's still a good thing. At least, we're safe from the vampires. We're still breathing. We're alive." She rasped.

"we might not be safe. The lycans are evil. They might try to get rid of us since we're not their kind."

"I don't think so. If they wanted to, they wouldn't bother bringing us here. We have to seek sanctuary once we get another chance to speak with their alpha." Maya replied with a hint of confidence and assurance in her tone.

Selene finding it difficult to believe the lycans could be anything but good fumed, "No! We cannot seek sanctuary from the lycans. We need to get out of here. As fast as possible! Didn't you see their alpha? You think I would put my life in the hands of a man like that?! I don't know him but I know he isn't to be trusted!"

"Calm down Selene. Don't you feel this is way too much anger for someone who hasn't even touched a single strand of our hair?" She inquired.

"Is forcing silver into our necks not worse?" She countered with a tightened expression.

"We entered their territory. We trespassed. In these walls, we're safe. Outside, there's a whole lot of dangers awaiting us. Once the vampires catches us this time, we can no longer leave. Do you not remember how we were being punished?!" Her voice became strangulated as she spoke the last words.

Images of the torment and torture they had gone through in the hands of the vampires vividly painted itself in her mind as she had recalled that everytime they'd disobeyed, they had ended up tied and whipped with chains. Then they would lock them up in a pit for days without food or water.

Selene shuddered when she remembered the feeling hot tears gathered in her eyes. She curled up, burying her head between her thighs when she sat. On one hand were the vampires who had been after them and on the other was a mate she didn't want.

She couldn't even begin to say she knew why she'd felt so irritated by his mere presence. An unimaginable amount of rage burned within me. Unadulterated anger shooting through her veins. Why did she get a lycan for a mate?! What had she done wrong?

Everything about him felt wrong. From his shoulder length brown hair, to his brown eyes. His too perfectly sharp cheek bones, sculpted face, he had nose too straight, shoulders too broad, everything just felt too wrong!

But unlike the lycans, mating had never been a compulsory subject for an antherion. She could as easily reject her mate and would still be unaffected but the lycans had their lives depending on mating. The mating bond was everything to them. It was the air they breathed. Take it away from them and they'd be nothing.

The Antherion exhaled, determined to never seek sanctuary from a lycan pack. Never! Vowing to rather run back to the vampires instead. Seeking sanctuary was telling them to do to her as they'd seen fit. Even with the alpha realizing she was his mate, something deep down assured her he would find pleasure in tearing her apart. Antherions and lycans could never get along, not to talk of the possibility of mating. Antherions and lycans dreaded themselves like a plague, the antherions seeing lycanthropy as a disease. Whilst the Lycans saw antherions as cursed.

She pulled at the collar which snapped tight around her neck and wouldn't budge. It had a locking mechanism she could easily pry off if it hadn't been for her weakened strength. She let out a hiss when the collar clamped down on hard on her skin. Maya pried her hand away from it.

"It's of no use. It's locked. And even if you got your wolf back, you still wouldn't get out of here alive."

~~~~~~~~~~
A few hours had gone by and they'd fallen into the throes of sleep. The sounds of footsteps and keys clanging as they were being pushed into locks awakened her back to consciousness. The door creaked and opened, revealing a male wolf at the entrance with a female wolf behind. Selene noticed she'd been the female from earlier.
Her heart dropped in her chest. Were they taking them out to kill them?! My chest rose and fell with the anxiety within her worsening.
The male grabbed the chains on the floor, forcefully pulling them up with a wicked glint in his eyes. She knew he'd enjoyed seeing them scared, even Maya had also been scared, her heartbeat quickened but she tried to no avail to control her fears.
"Where are we going?!" Maya questioned. Her chest heaving from fear. Even when she'd believed the lycans to be nice, a part of her couldn't help but get scared at the possibilities of an impending death.
He glared at her, irritated by her question."The alpha wants to speak with you both." He pulled us by the chains, handing Maya's over to the female wolf.
At once, we were out of the cell. Making their way past some buildings quietly. Male and female wolves crowded the entire building with a few younglings too.
Their eyes dwelled on them. Some scowled when they passed, some snarled. Showing their hatred for them, while some just curiously gazed at them wondered and amused. The ones who stared at them maliciously, Maya scowled, snapping her teeth at them. If it hadn't been for the unpleasant situation, Selene would have been forced to smile, knowing that the only thing stopping Maya from snapping their neck off had been the collar.
The clan had little bungalows covering the whole plains, reaching towards the hill. Some were aligned in rows, while some were spread apart from each other. They halted in front of a large building, walking in, the whole floors glimmering from the marbled tiles.
Finally, they stopped right in front of a huge mahogany door. The door opened and they walked into a hall. It looked like a hall for feast, and on the other hand, could also serve as court. There were three chairs at the front. The one at the middle looking incredibly big. From where she'd stood she could scent it was made with fine leather, so were the rest.
Selene's nostrils flared at a familiar scent she breathed hurriedly, sucking air into her lungs.
The alpha sat on the big chair. The wolf behind shoving them down to our knees, she winced when her knee connected hard with the tiles, yelping in pain. Instantly, his wolf was in his eyes as he stared at them with killer intent. Growls emanated from his chest. He clenched his fist on the chair's armrest, his knuckles turning white. He shot the wolves a cold glare.
"The next time you push them that way, I'll have your head!" He mind linked them.
"Forgive me alpha!" They hurriedly begged, dropping to their knees.
Maya turned towards her, confused at the wolf's actions, suspecting he had reprimanded them through the mind link. Finally he got himself under control.
"Leave us!" He ordered.
"But–" the male wolf tried to talk but he cut him off.
"I said leave us!" He spoke through gritted teeth.
