It is quite unfortunate that I didn't take into account that I should carry a handkerchief or a rag or some wads of napkins in my pants and now I'm just standing here covered in splatters of blood. Ew. 'I've got about 30 mana now I'm supposed to be able to raise these goblins.'
"Ok Tanya stand back a little, I'm going to try something real quick." I said ensuring that she is, while wondering how skills work. Reaching my hand out to the closest body, I focused on trying to extract the skeletons like I'm a user of The Force. The way I'm struggling I might actually shit myself at this point. Giving up that ridiculous act I moved on to another option, speaking. 'A necromancer is typically seen as a dark mage and mages can cast spells by saying them.' June pondered a bit on that thought, 'Being a dark mage is actually concerning but I guess that's a future me problem.'
Refocusing on the goblin's body I let my intentions flow through my words. "Summon skeleton." A feeling passed through me leaving goose bumps in its wake and then it happened.
[Bing! Extracting goblin skeleton] June, along with a forgotten Tanya in the back, watched with a mix of fascination and disgust as the skin and muscles started to melt away from the bones. A faint green light emits from the joints and the same green can be seen surrounding June. A connection between her and her skeleton summon.
Standing, the skeleton stumbled before correcting itself with the help of the green light. Reaching its hand out it took up one of the knives then turned towards me. Taking a step back, June realized it was just there 'staring' at her with what looks like green flames in the eye sockets. A small gasp sounded behind her but was ignored as June went and stooped in front of the skeleton making both of them at eye level.
Looking into its eye (socket), there were a few lines chipped into the bone. June realized that this is the goblin she stabbed in the eye. 'So they retain the structure of their bones right before their death. Interesting.' Observing the skeleton for a few more seconds she stood abruptly remembering that they weren't in a safe area. Calling out to Tanya to follow her, she went around to the other bodies and did the same extraction.
"We're heading to my room now, remember to be as quiet as possible and stay close to the walls, ok?" June said to Tanya and after an assured nod they set off. Two skeletons in front, June behind, then the last skeleton with Tanya at the back of the line. With our backs towards the wall, I sent the first two skeletons to the other side as an attention grabber if there is any goblins scouting. After waiting a few minutes with my hockey stick at the ready, I looked down the corridor. A lone goblin stood there doing something with its back towards us.
It's better to be safe rather than rush into unknown situations. Just because only one can be seen, doesn't mean there aren't others. Swiftly making my way to the other side, I made sure the goblin was still distracted before calling the others over. Heading to the front of our little line, all three summons were now between Tanya and I.
Walking along the corridor being as vigilant as possible to avoid ambushes from any goblins coming from a dorm with an open door, we headed for my room. A piercing scream suddenly sounded from behind me causing me to freeze. Whipping my head around, I saw Tanya holding the back of her thigh and a goblin smiling with a bloody knife in its hand. 'FUCK! Go kill that little shit.' Commanding the goblins while running towards Tanya, I felt my anger rise at my stupidity. Of course they'd come from the back too. How stupid of me to leave her unprotected and to think they'd just simply ignore us.
"Shit! Tanya, I'm so sorry. I should've known better." Groaning in response, Tanya pushed forwards telling me to go. Bracing her on my body, we walked to my room while the skeletons got rid of the goblin. Sending a silent command that they should guard outside the door until further instructions, I got started on helping Tanya. Having her lie on her stomach on the bed and holding pressure to the wound, I rummaged around for the first aid kit so I can apply stitches.
'It's a good thing I did a little medical course that summer. Nursing skills for the win.'
Sitting a little awkwardly on the bed, I gave her a painkiller and started prepping her leg.
"You might want to grab the pillow 'cause this is going to hurt." I warned. Waiting until she was situated, I started the first stitch. This might've been easier if I had ice to numb the area a little. But I don't so suffer she will. Attempting to soothe her while she screams into my pillow, I also had to resort to throwing my leg over hers, so she doesn't kick any harder and getting one of us hurt. Thankfully it didn't take long for me to finish so I cleaned up and gave her a blanket seeing as she passed out.
Taking a moment before I also go to sleep, I checked my status and the ignored notifications. Found out that's something you could do while focusing on stitching. [Bing! Level one goblin killed (x8) 80 exp gained. Level 2 goblin killed. 20 exp gained. Bing! Your undead summon has gone into eternal rest.]
'A level two goblin huh. Looks like one of the summon died while fighting. I'll have to get stronger soon since higher levels are appearing. Status.'
