With silence encompassing the two girls, it was quite obvious they were thinking the same thing- what. the. fuck. A sigh escaped June as she started walking around.
It seemed as if they were in a storage room as shelves occupied with paints, hammers and other items could be seen. There were also mops and brooms in corners. Clearing an area of the nearest and emptiest shelf, June took out the damp clothing she had was earlier and set them to dry.
This action confused Tanya and prompted her to break the silence. "That's really what you're doing right now?". June looked at her questioningly as she saw no problem with trying to dry her clothes. "There's literally a six-foot-tall big ass goblin out there EATING other students and you're here hanging clothes out." Tanya continued after seeing the look on June's face.
Sighing June flipped a bucket and sat on it before replying. "Look it's just as you said. That thing is six feet tall and eating us. I could see the muscles on it very clearly over the distance between us. I'm just a 5 feet 4 girl so what do you want me to do against that?? Much less you as you are- no offence - very useless right now." Imitating June, Tanya also got a bucket to sit on and think for a moment.
"Well," she started, "You can control the dead goblins, right? Why not get enough and bombard it with them. Let them deplete its health or something, be a distraction."
"They aren't something I can just create. They need mana and right now I could only create about five of them. If more is needed it'll take a long while for me to get enough to use as a good distraction."
A few seconds of silence passed before June felt like it was too awkward. "Now that you're talkative why don't we get to know each other? Eventually we'll be leaving the room and frankly I don't want to die without even being able to say 'I met my first university friend' you know." There was a tint of hopefulness in her voice.
Still feeling uncomfortable about the situation they're in, Tanya agreed to June's request. The two, along with Dave, sat in the room exchanging information and relaxing after a crazy morning. June learned how Tanya came to be cornered by a goblin before she got rescued and what outside looked like while June was in her room. June in turn told Tanya her knowledge from playing games and reading manga since some -if not all- aspects of the fantasy world is now blending in with real life.
As the conversation died the girls decided it's time to face reality and started planning their escape from the building. It was now nearing sunset and they needed to be the closest area possible to the exit by nightfall. Tanya's conflicted feelings started to bubble up once more. She was still stuck between knowing it was more logical to try and kill the hobgoblin now and trying to find a way to leave without having to confront it. She didn't want her new friend to die after all.
Almost like she sensed Tanya's dilemma, June spoke up. "Just like how we have to kill in order to level up and get stronger, I'm sure that's what it has to do too. Even if we manage to sneak out, what about the other persons who might be in here who'd eventually have to come out for food or to look for their families. Whatever the cause may be, I'm sure others are going to be in the area and die because of the hobgoblin. It's better to try and take it out now so later -if we manage to survive- we don't have to worry about meeting it again plus we'll know how to handle others like it."
Although there was still a bit of hesitance, Tanya agreed with June and started creating a plan for June since she couldn't be of much help.
