Chapter 18 - Gabriel - lies, deception, rage!

"What did you just say?"

"Take a closer look at your rejection of your consciousness. It's possible that the memories are so hard to handle, you don't want to remember them"

I smirked and stared amused at doctor Philips conclusion. "It sounds like you'd be better at writing a novel than being a psychiatrist.

Then I leaned closer "who cannot handle what? Me? Gabriel Fernandez?"

My brows furrowed because he fucking doesn't know who he was talking to.

He smacked his lips together, he was already trembling in fear. I didn't even do anything to this one. It's too enjoying to see how weak people could be.

"Your sickness could be phantom pain. That's what every test and symptoms is pointing at but considering that non of your limbs have ever being amputed, I know it is a psychological trauma of a painful experience that has lived for years within you. Have you ever being a victim of fire incident?".

"No"

"Maybe because you don't remember..I think we should try to get back to your forgotten memory " Philip said getting his composure back.

"Thank you for wasting my time Philip" I held his shoulder tight and I squeezed it until his face expression was showing the pain he was feeling. He would obviously develop a 'phantom pain' if I continued.

Doctors are just a waste of times. How could he be so old fashioned in this 21st century. Hidden memories my ass.

I left his shoulder and stormed out of the consultation room in anger.

Once I left the hospital, My phone rang and it was Maya. I sighed. But still clicked on the green button. Maya sure knows how good to provoke my moods and I would have dished her a long time ago if not that she was so good with her spying job.

"Start talking" I said impatiently.

"Maybe your anger would be faced on some else after this conversation!." Her voice was cool and feminine, she must have resumed her seductive vibe which she knows that doesn't work on me.

I wonder the kind of eyes that people who conclude that she's hot has.

"If you won't say anything Maya, don't bother calling my number!" I quickly tried to hang up the call but she was fast enough to talk.

"I got a very important info on your ex wife!"

I stopped.

"Ava? What about her?".

"You will find out once you get to the office " the b*tch cut the call on me.

I quickly drove to my office and Maya was already sitted and waiting. My secretary was the worst for allowing her to enter my office when I wasn't in.

"You better start talking".

 I sat on my sit.

She turned to stare at me all amused "oh you are here"

I know visually what Maya wanted but she was most definitely not my type. In Any way possible . And the fact that she kept on making useless efforts to get to my good side is beginning to tempt me. To end her. She should thank her stars that I don't hurt women.

Maya shifted a file across to me and waited patiently for me to open it.

"I didn't ask you to spy on Ava. What's this?"

"I like how you are always impatient Gabriel. open it quickly and find out first" Maya's tone was relaxing. She sat comfortable on the chair knowing that whatever she brought against Ava would make an impression on me.

I tore the file open quietly. I was trying to hold back the impression that I wasn't in a hurry to know what she had on Ava.

Maya isn't to be trusted. The worst part of her is her greediness. She could be working for you today and tomorrow she would be working against you. Depending on who brings the highest deal.

I saw some photos of Ava and Josh, sitting down and holding hands. I have seen them before. Not on photos but with my own eyes and I held my self back then from tearing josh into pieces.

"Is this all you got Maya?. Give up because It's not working" I said and stood up to leave

"Why are you in a hurry Gabriel? There is a paper in there, why don't you read it loud for us to here"

"You do no fucking tell me what to do. Do not cross the line Maya " I was growing impatient and held her neck tightly. That same principle of not hurting women held me back from breaking her neck.

I sat back and took a closer look at the paper while she gasped for air.

It was a maternity test result and shit! Ava was pregnant.!.

The vein in my forehead throbbed and I clenched my fist to the leather chair. I gnashed my teeth angrily and looked up at Maya .

"No. " She raised her hands up , smiling. She seems to be amused by the whole situation and seems not to be aware that my anger could send her to her grave soon. "No, you shouldn't get annoyed already. There are two from different hospitals. Wait until you read the second".

" My relationship with Ava has nothing to do with you Maya so stop butting in"

"You guys are divorced "

I smirked, my eyes narrowed as I leaned closer " how sure are you".

Maya's lips curled in confusion. She was startled and stood up. Knowing her quite well, I am sure she wasn't about to leave. The bitch doesn't give up easily..

" more than you think,Because I served her the divorce myself and made sure she signed it".

I burst into an wholesome laughter."you are quite gullible Maya, almost thought you were a genius. We aren't divorced. And even if we were, you know you have no chance against Ava. The looks, the stature.. you don't even stand a chance." I smirked st my comeback. It was enough to hurt her ego.

With those words I opened the second letter and read through the lines .

Name: Ava Smith.

Sex: female.

Gestational age: four months.

I paused and then glared inquisitively at Maya" four months and her stomach was still flat? Go tell a better lies Maya".

"It was same for my sister. She gave birth last week. it happens a lot this days"..

I ignored her filthy lies and continued to read, holding back my rage.

Father: Josh Fernandez!

I threw the file onto the table, my eyes bloodshot with anger. The room seemed to grow darker as my fury consumed me. I clenched my fists, my knuckles turning white as I struggled to control the torrent of emotions that threatened to explode.

"Josh Fernandez?!" I bellowed, the name echoing through the room with an intensity that startled Maya. She took a step back, fear creeping into her eyes as she watched the transformation before her.

My voice trembled as I continued, "Don't you dare lie to me, Maya. I know the truth about Ava, and I won't stand for this deception." The veins in my neck pulsed with frustration, and I could feel the heat radiating from my body.

Maya, sensing the growing storm, stepped back and exited the room in a hurry. I couldn't contain the rage any longer. I swiped my arm across the table, sending papers and the file flying in every direction. The room seemed to shudder as my anger raged, and I needed to find the answers that had been kept from me for far too long.

I took my phone and dialed Ethan's number. Once he picked up, my voice echoed across the room " get ready, we'd be going to Italy now!"
