Night was fast approaching, and I am still lingering around. Grandma meant every word she said. She locked my room and had my things moved to Gabriel's room.
She told Evelyn to make sure I didn't sleep on the coach and gave Charlotte the assignment of making sure I slept in Gabriel's room.
"Oh Ava... You are still outside waiting for me."
"No, I'm just, uh, I came to get some air," I lied with a straight face.
"The air conditioning is working perfectly well.
She had to drag me inside Gabriel's room and jam the door behind her.
"Who is that asshole?" Gabriel's voice echoed from his study. His room was so large that I could compare it to the size of my whole apartment. It had a study that I recently found out about. The door was just like a normal wall.
"Have you gone deaf?
"My name is Ava Williams." I showed up at his study with no jokes.
"So?" He didn't move his eyes from the computer.
"Goodnight
"Lock my door once you leave.
I scoffed loud enough for him to hear, "I am sleeping here tonight, according to what Grandma said. If you have any problems with that, you can tell her to release my room key."
I curled myself into a ball on his bed, which was soft and big. I made enough space for him and made sure I faced the other side. I don't know who I took after with my temper; it doesn't bother me much since I barely have the physical strength to injure someone with my temper.
I woke up the next morning to notice that he didn't sleep on the bed, or maybe he woke up earlier and I didn't notice.
When I went to have breakfast, he wasn't also there . I cleared my throat and asked no one in particular, "Did Gabriel leave for something important?
"He slept at the hotel." Charlotte said.
I gnashed my teeth in anger; there was no way I was going to live with a man who couldn't stand the sight of me.
If I had to describe Gabriel Fernandez, a litany of words would come to mind. Arrogant, ruthless. Beautiful. Ruthless
"Being considerate or humane" wasn't one of them. It wasn't even in the top ten thousand. He seems not to value any relationships, and according to what I heard, he never dated anyone.
He was supposed to have found his wife before now, but I understand that no one would love to be live with that annoying jerk. Maybe he was cursed or just unfortunate.
I almost forgot I had an appointment with my doctor, not the Fernandez's. Ethan referred him to me until I was ready to choose between keeping the child and going for a surgical abortion like Gabriel wanted.
I had an ultrasound and saw the four gastrointestinal sacs growing inside me. I requested a picture, and I was given one.
"Mrs. Fernandez, you also have to cut your level of alcohol. It's not good for your children. You are a beautiful woman and I know your children would be incredibly cute. We don't want to take chances on getting them disabled " I nodded.
I would try if my husband made things easier.
I'd left the hospital, but someone stopped on my track.
I tried to avoid him, but he desperately wanted to talk to me.
"I guess you must have been thrown out of the family since your husband is awake." I looked closely at the man, and I have never seen him in my life before. He sure knows more than he should.
The Fernandez keeps their life like a secret book that only the members of the family could read, which means that they had a whistleblower.
"Who are you, and what do you want?
"Aiden and I want... you," he said, sounding serious and dangerous. The man was about 6 feet tall. I don't know why, but he gives me a gay vibe. Maybe because his trousers was too tight on him.
I know I am a pretty lady, but that was not enough for him to want me. I am sure he wants something else that only I could give. He pretty much saw me leaving a gynecologist's hospital. What the fuck does he want with a woman carrying another man's child?
"No thanks, I am not interested, and get the fvck out of my site." I quickened my steps, but he stopped me again. I looked around to notice that people were there, and I could gladly scream and someone would
"Don't get me wrong. I just happened to know what you studied after university, and I want to offer you a job," he said, bringing out something that looked like a flash drive. "I wish to open a fashion company, and if you will do me a pleasure of taking a look at the designs I drafted and making better suggestions. I would be glad, and besides, since you have many followers on Instagram, you can help me advertise as well.
I needed money, and it seemed to be a legit business and not a scam. I collected drive-looking stuff and noticed how hard his hands were.
"How do you earn money? I mean your current job.
"I work with celebrities and politicians at the moment. Just their little errand boy, "he scoffed.
That was a fat lie. His hands were like those of someone who does rough jobs. Is he lying to get my attention?
"Your pay"
"500,000 dollars
My eyes widened in shock. But I pretended no to be startled Who on earth offers that amount for just a part-time job? Even if it were full-time, it was still much more than possible.
However, I wanted the money, and he needed my services. It's not like I am doing something illegal or killing someone.
When I got home that evening, the living room was dead silent.
"Have you had dinner, ma'am? I reserved some food for you." Evelyn's voice startled me.
"No, I haven't, but it's too early for me to eat now; maybe later. Why is everywhere so quiet? Isn't he back?
"You mean master Gabriel? He hasn't returned yet, even though the doctor told him to rest for a while." Evelyn sighed. "He always had a mind of his own and did whatever he wished to.
I nodded and went to my room to discover that it was still locked. "Oh grandma! Evelyn, do you perhaps know where the key could ever be?
"Grandmother leaves it under her pillow," she said.
There was no hope for me to get into my room anytime soon, and Gabriel... he is a handful already.
I freshened up and had my dinner.
I tossed and turned on the bed, thinking about the children in my womb. I felt so nervous about becoming a mother at this age. I don't know if I should keep them or if I should just set them free.
My phone pinged, and I quickly checked it, like someone expecting a call. I might be, but I know there is no way he would call.
'Could you possibly get the work done before morning? I will need your honest review. "It was obviously the guy from the hospital.
I wonder how the hell he got my number. For some reason, I find his attitude weird.
My phone pinged again, and this time it was a credit alert and a text message that read that he sent half of the money as an advance payment. I checked my balance, and it was $251,00.
that the guy meant no joke. How could someone normal pay that much for just a simple job?
I stood up to get to work, and it dawned on me again that my laptop was locked in that room. It was already too late to wake Grandma from her sleep.
VvvI put the flash drive on my phone and stared in horror as my phone suddenly went on and then off.
I needed a laptop to access the file; luckily Evelyn was still awake." I don't know what's wrong with my phone, and my laptop is locked in my room. Is there another system I could use? Do you have one to lend me?
"Oh, I don't but you can use Master Gabriel's. It should be in his study.
Vvv"Gabriel's?" I couldn't get myself to enter his study; the whole time he was bedridden, no one entered his study, not even the cleaning ladies. I am not sure about Evelyn or Gabriel's sibling.
Vv"Don't worry, master Gabriel won't be back until 1:00 am. You can use it quickly and keep it safe.
I was terrified of getting caught by Gabriel, but at the same time, I needed the money.
If I decide to get an abortion, I need the money. If it's to keep the pregnancy, I needed even more than. Since I will be getting a divorce.
I walk up to the study and turned on the laptop; luckily, it wasn't password protected, and it turned on in no time. The time was 11:19 p.m., and I still had two hours plus.
I took a deep breath and plugged in the flash drive. And I was able to access the flash. I searched through it for the file name Aiden told me earlier, but the content of it that I saw was totally different.
My eyes widened in shock as I tried so much to hold back the tears that had already blurred my vision.
Strangely enough, the laptop started to flicker. I was so tensed that I slammed it close without shutting it down.
