Chapter 1 - The Magical Flower

In an old house inside a small village, while the stars are shining, a little baby, with blonde hair and blue eyes with white skin, was born. She was called Roa. Roa grew up and she was listening to many fairytale stories from her grandmother. One of these stories, the Roa loved, is the magical flower story.

The magical flower is a beautiful flower that is indistinguishable from other flowers but it has a magical power. This flower can grant wishes. This flower doesn't appear only in front of good and pure souls, and hides if there a bad and hateful people.

On one of the spring days, Roa went out, when she was seven, to the garden near her house. She sat down under a tree and started reading a book. While she was like that, she heard a crying voice from the forest. Roa was scared, but she went after the voice. There was a little boy, somehow three years old, about to fall into a deep valley. Roa tried to help him so she held a tree branch with one hand and gave the other to the boy. When the boy was saved, the branch broke leading to the fall of Roa.

Roa opened her eyes hardly, her head was heart. She put her hand on her head and she felt bleeding. After she saw the heavy blood on her hand, she felt so scared. She tried to stand up when she saw the most strange thing in her life. In the valley bottom, between the stones, Roa saw a beautiful flower.

"What a beautiful flower is doing in a place where no water is there!?" she asked with wonder. "Ouch, my head is hearting me so much!" She put one of her hands on the flower and remembered the magical flower story. "If it was really that flower, then it could heal my head!"

She closed her eyes and muttered, "I wish to heal my head." Then she laughed saying, "I am stupid! This is only an imaginary story!" Roa opened her eyes with amazement and put her hand on her head. "T..the pain has gone!" when she looked at her hand, there was no blood. She stood and looked around her, she was as if she didn't fall off the slope.

She looked at the flower and sat behind it with great shock. "Does that mean…It is! It's really the magical flower! It really is!" Roa held the flower and tried again, "I wish to return home." It was seconds and Roa was in front of her house.

Roa was so happy, she went to her grandmother and told her everything and saw the flower. The grandmother was shocked by what she heard from her granddaughter but she patted her head and said with a beautiful smile: "You are a good and affectionate girl. That's why the flower showed up to you my little girl."

Roa was so happy with her grandmother's words, so she decided to take care of the flower. The next day, Roa woke up immediately and got ready to go to school, she held the flower with her in a jar. In school, Roa put the jar on the window beside her seat and sat looking at it. After the bell rang, the teacher got into the class and said that there was a pop quiz. Roa was shocked, she wasn't prepared for that. She looked at the flower and said with a small smile: "I wish to forget the teacher about the pop quiz." And that is what happened. The class dismissed and the teacher forgot to do the quiz. After the class, Roa was happy that she avoided the quiz when her friend Salwa came near her to talk.

"Did you see that!? The teacher totally forgot about the quiz! That's a relief! I wasn't prepared!" her friend started.

"Yeah, me too!" Roa said while she was laughing secretly.

Salwa wondered about her friend's reaction. When she asked her, Roa replied that it was a secret that no one should know. In the break time, Roa forgot her launch and she didn't want to share with Salwa's launch that was bread and cheese. She wanted something more "luxurious". So, she wished to have a tasty and special launch and she got what she needed.

As the days go by, Roa's wishes increase, and sometimes selfish, like having her uncle's son's bike, or cancellation of exams and homework, or having everything expensive that a poor little girl like her can't have. Roa wasn't that hardworking student who loved to do everything in her way anymore, she became a lazy girl who depended on wishes, especially the selfish ones.

The grandmother noticed the change in her granddaughter's behaviours, so she decided to talk to her at the earliest.

"Roa, tell me, when was the last time you did something on your own without wishing for it?" the grandmother started.

"And why should I get tired while I can simply ask for it, grandmother?" Roa replied.

"Roa, you should work hard. In the end, these wishes will not last forever and one day you will regret that." Grandmother said.

"Don't worry. I am careful, grandma." Roa replied.

"Ok dear, I want you to help me work in the garden, without.."

"What about wishing to be rich!? In that way, my dad and you won't be tired working in the garden every day and we can get all that we need!" Roa interrupted her grandmother's speech.

"Roa! No wishes!" grandmother shouted.

"Why are yelling at me!? What wrong did I do!?" Roa shouted.

"You will become a lazy girl if you keep wishing, Roa." Grandmother said while she tried to keep the atmosphere calm.

"No! You are jealous because the flower chose me!" Roa shouted.

"Roa…" grandmother in shock.

"No, I don't want to hear anything from you! I wish you die!" Roa shouted.

Roa put her hand on her mouth in shock as she saw her grandmother falling down and stopped breathing.

"No, no, grandma, no... Don't die... I retract my wish, please, grandma, don't die!" Roa said while crying.

"Grandma!"

Roa opens her eyes and wakes up in her bed while crying and shouting by her grandmother's name. She realizes, then, that all that was a dream. The grandmother comes immediately after she hears her shout and hugs her. Roa hugs her grandmother back while saying: "I promised, I will hard work always and depend on myself. But, please, don't leave me!"

Later, that day, while Roa was reading her book under a tree, she heard a crying voice from the forest. She went after the voice, and then she found a little boy, somehow three years old, about to fall into a deep valley. She holds a tree branch by a hand and gives the other hand to him so she can help him. After the boy was saved, the branch broke leading Roa to fall. She opened her eyes hardly to see a beautiful flower beside her. Roa stayed looking at it silently and Shockley.
