Chapter 34 - Chapter 34

Allen and the Gryffindor boy stood side by side on the edge of the field, both of their brooms to their right side. The moment their referee turns their wand with the Wand-Lighting charm, they would command their brooms to go to their hands.

William, from the side, asked Allen if he was sure about this. "Hmm, I have a plan, since we didn't really put any rules, I can just do whatever." Allen smiled mischievously, the green light still shining in his eyes.

William flinched a bit after looking at him, he wasn't used to seeing the light of his eyes shine so brightly. But he composed himself, thanking that he wasn't the one who made Allen angry.

"Alright mate, good luck." He put his fist towards Allen.

"Thank you, but he's the one who's gonna need the luck." he responded the fist bump while pointing at the Gryffindor boy with his thumb.

"Are you ready? I'll count down." Cried the kid who was playing as the referee.

Allen and the Gryffindor boy nodded.

"3… 2… 1… Up!" He muttered the Wand-Lighting charm as he finished the last number, pointing his wand towards the sky. When they saw the charm, both students shouted 'Up!' for their brooms to fly towards their hand, but only Allen's jumped to his hand while the Gryffindor boy's broom stayed in the ground.

Allen took the opportunity to mount his broom and get a head start. The moment he took the lead, a small laugh left his mouth. It worked! Hahaha.

The boy continued to shout 'Up!' getting angrier and more desperate the further Allen went ahead, then he got tired and tried to pick up his broom with his hands.

"Uh?! Why is it so heavy?!" He exclaimed.

When Allen was about halfway through, he saw out of the corner of his eye the Gryffindor boy trying to lift his broom. Ah, damn it, I'll have to stop casting my magic, or he's going to suspect something.

Allen swiftly let go of his magic that was holding down the broom, making the boy hit himself in the face when he tried to lift it. "Aargh! You piece of-" He heard the boy shout and he laughed again.

After a minute or two, Allen had won the race, while the boy was only halfway through the field. The referee called the Gryffindor back since the race was already over.

When the boy arrived, he threw the broom to the ground, his face red because of the anger. "You cheated!" The Gryffindor cried, pointing at Allen.

Allen looked to the sides, then pointed at himself, a questioning look on his face. "Me? How?"

"What do you mean by how?! I know you did it, it didn't take me any effort to pick up my broom the first time, yet, when I'm about to race you, it suddenly gets heavier?!"

"Maybe you were nervous? It happens to the best of us." Allen shrugged his shoulders. "Besides, if you want to accuse me of cheating, I think it would be better if you have some proof first.

Do you know that it is almost impossible to jinx a broom after its creation? That's because of all the enchantments taking place to make the broom fly and stable. Only adult wizards could jinx a broom to make it do weird things." Allen thought back on the first book when Quirrel jinxed Harry's broom to throw him off onto the Quidditch's field. Well, even if it sounds like bullshit, its true, I didn't jinx it, since I don't know how to do that, I only used my magic to pull the broom towards the ground. That's why I activated my magic in the first place, to look at the boy's magic so I could see if mine was stronger than his, otherwise, he would've been able to overpower me and I would've to use another strategy.

Good thing no one can see my magic unless the spell requires it.

"Right, I believe baseless accusations are no good, so if you have any proof, bring it over." Armand said from behind with a cold tone in his voice. "We played your little games, and now that you've lost, you say that Allen cheated? Have you no shame?"

"Armand's right! Now, I think you owe Allen something." William joined to Armand's side

Sorry Armand, but it is true! I wasn't confident in my ability to fly in the first place! Allen silently apologized to Armand and William.

"Tch." The Gryffindor clicked his tongue, enraged by the situation, but since he couldn't tell how Allen cheated, he had to accept it. "Alright! Whaddya want?!" He shouted.

Allen stayed silent for a while, he closed his eyes and wandered back and fort in the field, he really didn't know what to ask for, he just wanted the kid to leave him alone after losing the race. That's it!.

"I want you and all of your friends to leave me and my friends alone, and you WILL refer to me by Lionheart. Are we clear?"

"Y- Yes…" The Gryffindor answered reluctantly and his friends followed behind.

"Well then, now if you excuse me, we need to return the brooms to Madam Hooch." Allen turned back with the broom in his hand, Armand and William walked besides him with their own brooms.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After that little incident, nothing relevant happened, except for the fact that he was doing better in Transfiguration. He thanked Professor McGonagall in his mind, otherwise, he would've continued to cast the spells like that all of his life.

Yet Allen and Armand continued to compete for the number one spot, he honestly didn't expect to come this far, since he wasn't that good at school in his first life, but probably the classes being about magic have something to do with his performance, most of the time it feels like as if he was taking a class about a fantasy book, instead of school materials.

Allen still didn't know if he wanted to go and live with his aunt, so he wanted to get the Hogwarts schoolarship, even if he did end up living with her, it was better to have it and not need it.

Most of the time, whenever he had free time, he would go to the Room of Requirements to look for books related to his homework, hoping to score a bit more than Armand. It feels like he has better memory than me, probably Occlumency since he's from a pureblood family, they must've teach him since he was young.

Allen looked towards the ceiling inside the Room of Requirements, wondering if could learn Occlumency, or even if the books that the room provided had anything related to the minds art.

He took a look at the Marauder's Map that he left on top of a desk, next to a bunch of transfiguration books. Most of the students were in the Great Hall, which made it the perfect opportunity to go out and ask for a place where could practice Occlumency.

While it was possible to change the room with someone inside the room had to be extra careful and took longer to change everything, so it was better to just leave the room for a minute or two and then go back in.

He felt a tinge of magic brushing him, then looked up. "What? I'm not leaving, not yet anyway, I just need you to change the room faster since I'm on a schedule." He pulled out his pocket watch, it became a routine to look at it the more days passed.

"I'll be back in a bit, so don't worry!" Allen exclaimed to the ceiling before grabbing all of his things and putting them on his backpack.

After walking three times by the tapestry, thinking about a place to learn Occlumency, he went back inside. Inside the room was only one bookshelf, which only contained three books in total. The rest of the room had comfortable cushions to sit on, and a bed to lay down.

"…

Is this to room to learn Occlumency or to take a nap?" Allen wondered out loud and the room just send another wave of magic, angry with him.

"Alright, alright, I'll read the books first, then I'll complain."

Allen picked up the far most left book, the tittle read: 'Occlumency, learn to protect your mind from others and yourself' "… Why do wizards write their tittles like clickbait articles?" He wondered with a quizzical look on his face. "Well, it doesn't matter, let's just read it."

He opened the book and sat down in one of the cushions. After he read it for a bit he could see that the tittle didn't do justice to the insides, just like with his Wandlore book.

The content inside the book was a bit hard to understand, and even the same book referenced another one heavily about the usage of magic and how it works in wizards, since Allen couldn't completely understand it, he thought it would be better to read the reference book first, then come back to this one. This almost feels like a side-quest when you need something, but the person who has it needs something, and so on and so forth.

He let out a loud groan before asking the room if it had this book. "Let me see, it's called…

'Mind, Energy, and Body, how it relates to your magic and how can you use it for your benefit! 44th edition.'

These stupid wizards!"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It took a while for Allen to calm down, so much that it was already time for his detention, so he asked the room for the book and after a minute or two, it appeared in one of the desks. As he was leaving the Room of Requirements, he patted the wall before opening the door. "Thanks a lot, I'll see you later." Then, all of a sudden, a thought crossed his mind. Can he use the Wand Raising charm in other things that are not wands?

The question bounced in his head for a moment, then he tried it. Touching the wall of the Room of Requirements, he casted the Wand Raising charm on it, and Allen could feel the shock of the room at receiving his magic, but accepted it gratefully.

It vibrated for a bit before calming down. I don't think the spell is supposed to work like that… He pulled out his pocket watch to check the time again and saw that he only had three minutes left before his detention. "Ah fuck, see you later! Thanks for the book!" Allen picked up the shady book about magic and put it in his backpack as he ran towards his detention.

Meanwhile, the Room of Requirements hummed joyfully for receiving magic after so long. Even though it lives in the castle and it feeds it magic, it's different from receiving it directly. The usual method is as if the room consumed it by photosynthesis, while getting it directly was as if it was spoon fed a tasty meal.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After his detention, Allen wondered if something was wrong with the way he casted magic wandlessly. He kept thinking all the time while scrubbing cauldrons about how he was able to use the Wand Raising Charm on the Room of Requirements and wondered if he could do it to other things as well. But I don't think it's supposed to do that…? Then again, the charm is used with a wand, not without one, since it was designed specifically to raise your bond with it. Should I ask Mr Ollivander about it? No, I've already showed too much of my wandless magic to other people.

Right, I just need to practice it on people that I don't care if they get hurt! That Gryffindor boy, or Avery and the Burke twins. It's not like the charm is designed to harm anyone in the first place, I just wanna know if it works on people.

"Umm, you okay there Allen? You are making an awful lot of faces." Said William from the other side of the dorm.

"What? Ah, yes William, I was just thinking about a spell."

"Uh, alright then, nothing dangerous?"

"No, don't worry about it, it's pretty mild." Allen showed him a smile but it only made him flinch a bit since his eyes were shining with a green light.

"Mate, please turn off your eyes, it actually scares me."

"Oh shit, sorry William, I thought you were used to it."

"I mean, I am, but it doesn't mean it can't scare me if I suddenly see them." He let out a long breath.

Before Allen could answer anything back, Armand entered the room, his hair a bit wet from the shower. "Hey, are we doing anything tomorrow? It's Saturday so we can do our homework ahead of time, or watch the Quidditch try outs, I heard they are still doing them."

"You like Quidditch?" Allen asked with a questioning look on his face.

Armand scrubbed his hair with the towel. "Who doesn't?"

"Yeah! Let's go! We haven't done anything but studying! I'm getting bored." William cried as he stood up from his bed.

"I guess we can go watch the try outs."
