Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

Allen left the orphanage, not without first telling Ms Sarah where he was going.

"Are you sure you don't want me to accompany you? It can be dangerous if you go alone" Ms Sarah expressed.

"No, I'm okay, and the professor told me exactly where it is that I need to go"

"I still can't understand why she didn't went with you"

"I told her I wanted to go alone Ms Sarah" Allen explained.

She kept quiet for a while before opening her mouth again "You might be more mature than other kids your age Allen, but don't let it get to your head, you are still a child, now go, I'll wait, and you better not take too long, you hear me mister?"

"Yes Ms Sarah, I'll try to do it in two or three hours, depends on how packed the shopping district is"

Allen looked back at the orphanage and Ms Sarah, while he would come back, it was obvious to him that once he did so, things would change, for better or worse he couldn't tell, but things were going to change, no, things are already changing.

He took the public transportation until he arrived at an unassuming pub, which worked as an inn as well. A sign made of wood, hanging on top of the building, with a picture of a cauldron and the name of the pub inside of it.

People passed by the pub as if it didn't exist, others went inside the stores beside it, but just a few people went inside the pub.

Allen tried to remember the first time Harry came to the Leaky Cauldron with Hagrid in the 'Philosopher's Stone', while he remembered most of the stuff from the book, it was a general knowledge of the scenes, which mixed up with the movies, creating an amalgamation of memories which might or might not be true. It wouldn't matter in his past life, he would just watch the movies, or read the books again if he wanted to remember something about it, but now those memories were crucial for his survival.

His breathing got heavy, and his stomach dropped, an anxious feeling was coursing his body which he tried to calm himself again using his powers, no, his magic.

Putting his right hand on top of his chest, he let his magic flow, and saw the same green light which calmed him down all those years ago, and even today.

"Wait! My eyes!" Allen quickly closed his eyes, trying to evade other people's gazes, he opened them just a little while looking down and walked towards the glass of the pub, now standing in front of it, he opened his eyes and he saw them for the first time while he used his magic. His brown and dull eyes were now a bright green, which after a few moments turned to a turquoise color, leaving behind the light that shone on his eyes.

He could still feel his magic active, but he wasn't using it anymore, then, when he decided to stop it, his eyes dulled down to the normal brown, as if nothing happened.

"I really don't remember anything like that in the books… fuck" Allen muttered "This make magic harder to do because it would alert my opponent, why do I even come with a tell included? This is insane" He squatted down on the floor.

"Wait, does that mean that the other times when I used magic to walk without making a noise, everyone else in the orphanage noticed my eyes but decided to not say anything? Do they know?" These thoughts were running through his mind for a while until he decided to just go inside the pub and think about that later.

After crossing the door he felt almost like a veil pass through him, which promptly dissipated "Might be a muggle repellent ward if they ever made it inside" Allen muttered to himself.

He walked all the way to the counter so he could speak with the man behind it, Tom was his name, he remembered from the books.

The whole pub looked a decade old, which was surprising considering how old it actually was.

"Excuse me Sir" Allen called "Can you help me enter Diagon Alley? It' my first time you see"

"What? Oh! A first year student, I see, where are your parents boy?" The pub owner asked, wondering why an eleven year old would go on and about on their own.

Allen thought what to say for a few moments before deciding "Don't have, they died, now, can you show me, please?" He spoke crudely, he didn't really want to spend time talking with people about things he can't change so he decided to attack from a blind spot.

Tom became flustered at how blunt Allen was and not knowing what to say, he just went to the back of the pub, gesturing him to follow along.

Before him there was a wall made of red bricks, inconspicuous to everyone, but he knew about the combination that needed to be done in order for the wall to open the entrance to Diagon Alley.

"Alright, watch closely so you can do it next time you come back" Expressed Tom as he pressed the bricks with his wand, three up and two across, three times.

As the brick wall started to move, Allen decided to activate his magic to check if he would see any kind of light. He did, the brick wall shone with an unfamiliar light while parting midway, and when the full Diagon Alley was revealed in front of him, it almost blinded him to see so much magic, the light was all around the buildings, objects, people, and even animals.

"Go on ahead so I can close the entrance" Gestured Tom, indicating Allen to enter the Alley, without missing a beat, Allen went through the entrance and the brick wall behind him closed as if it never existed.

Overwhelmed by the assault on his eyes he decided to sit down until he got used to it.

"I need to get used to this, otherwise while I'm in Hogwarts my mind is gonna explode" He muttered under his breath. It was the first time he saw so much magic, since all the other lights he saw were just from him alone, now jumping to Diagon Alley which is one hundred percent magic in its entirety was too much.

The same pain that traveled all of his body whenever he practiced something new appeared now, as he was trying to get used to the sight before him. A headache assaulted his mind while he could feel his eyes burn as he looked in front of him. After a few minutes, the headache got better and the shining lights subdued, it still shone if he concentrated on a specific person or object, but if he didn't, it was almost like focusing something in front of him, while the background became a blur image with no form.

Allen hurried to the closest store to look at himself and he saw the same turquoise eyes on his face "Probably… It's probably that when my eyes shine with the bright green color, everything around me it's perceived more intense, but without that shining light I can see just fine around me, like two modes, between an extreme one and an easy one" He sighed, wondering what exactly did he do wrong to endure such a thing while using his magic.

Just as he wondered about it, he took out the list of materials while walking through the cobblestone of the alley, each step with more excitement than the other. Just like how his head and eyes hurt, the joy of being in the Diagon Alley overshadowed it, even if only for a bit.

Allen decided to go in the same order that the letter provided, taking a quick step, he headed directly to Madam Malkin's Robes for All Ocassions.

A purple and large building on one side of the Alley, he crossed the door and one of the attendants received him.

"Hi, welcome, we'll be with you in a minute!"

Allen stood still by the door, waiting for any of the workers to finish with the current client they were attending.

While he waited, another worker called for him to get his measurements but Allen refused "No, I don't want new robes, I need second, or even third hand robes, not a lot of money you see, do you have any?" He asked.

"Oh, yeah, we do have some, come, follow me" The worker walked towards a corner of the room while keeping conversation with Allen.

"So first year at Hogwarts right? Are yo excited? Do you have a preferred house to be in?" She continued to ask questions while Allen could barely keep up with the answers.

They arrived at a small space in the store with a bunch of robes with different sizes, all lined up from the largest to the smallest.

"Would you prefer a fitting robe or a bit bigger so it can last you at least up to your second year?"

The choice was obvious to him, it would be better to save as much money as possible "I 'd like the bigger one, I don't really want to waste more money than necessary in clothes"

"Alright then, next is the hat and a winter cloak, while a second hand hat is okay, I would recommend that you get a new winter cloak, it can get very cold in the castle" The worker commented, more likely from experience, as she rubbed her arms with her hands, remembering the winter in Hogwarts.

"No, it's okay, give me both of them second hand as well but give me a new pair of dragon-hide gloves, please"

"I see, it's better to buy new things where it matters most, where you could get hurt, in class or something, eh? Pretty smart" A smirk appeared on the worker's face.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Allen left the store after a few minutes, trying to convince the worker that he didn't need anything else but the essentials.

"Guess sales people are scary in either world… or universe" He thought back on his first live, but shook his head left and right, there would be another time to think about that, for now, the books.

After carefully reading each store name he came across, he finally found Flourish and Blotts Bookseller. Immediately, Allen went to one of the workers and asked them if they had any second hand Hogwarts first year books.

"Yeah, wait here kid" The worker stood up from his chair and went towards a small island of books, all the way back in the store.

Allen could see him muttering something while picking each book and pilling it up on a tower using one hand. He came back with all eight books in his hands, each of them had some type of defect, some had a scratched cover, others had their pages folded in half.

He looked through every book, checking if anything was amiss or if they would suddenly rip apart "Sigh, at least they don't have any ink marks inside" Allen thought.

"They are okay, can you pack them up for me while I look around for a bit?" He asked.

The worker just nodded, packing all the books in a brown paper while Allen went around the bookstore, not looking for anything in specific, while magic is something to be amazed by, the small headache didn't really let him enjoy the current situation.

He walked around for a bit, looking at a multitude of books which varied from color and sizes, and even designs, some looked like a monster, while others were almost ethereal. He wanted to buy a book, but he just didn't know what would be useful and neither how much money would be left for him.

After wandering for a few minutes, he picked up a book that shone in a different light than the others, while most book had a similar light to them, this one had a different feeling, the light was duller but deeper, he picked it up, and read the tittle.

Wandlore, everything you need to know about your wand and their companion: 34th edition, Revised by Garrick Ollivander.

And under there tittle, a small subtitle could be read.

Now includes a charm that can help you get closer to your wand!

"…"

"A… wand book? Why does it look like a clickbait article…?" Disgust showed in Allen's face when he read the title.
