Malfoy? As in the Malfoys from the books? But… That shouldn't be possible, Lucius and Narcissa only had Draco. Allen, perplexed by the situation just nodded along William while Armand sat down.
Armand pulled his trunk inside the compartment "Do you need help with that?" Allen asked.
"No, it's okay, thank you"
And after rejecting Allen's offer, Armand took out his want out of his breast pocket, then recited a spell "Wingardium Leviosa"
The trunk floated on top of them and Armand put it on top of William's trunk.
William raised his eyebrows "You know how to do magic?!, But we are just going to school for that!"
"Well, yes, just a bit of the first year spells, my parents really didn't want to teach me, but the books were in our mansion, so it was just a matter of reading and practicing once I got my wand"
"That's almost the same thing" Allen said. William pointed a finger at Allen while he just raised an eyebrow.
"It's impolite to point at people William" Allen answered.
"Oh, right, sorry"
Armand just looked at the both of them for a moment before deciding to speak "I don't think I heard your last name Allen"
"I don't like it, brings bad memories"
"Mm, I see, can't say I don't relate, my last name has brought me more trouble than not, so I tend to not like it sometimes"
Allen raised an eyebrow. He really is different from Draco, or even Lucius.
"From the first year books, do you have a favorite, Armand?" Allen asked, while he didn't really want to make friends so fast, it's not like he couldn't get along with his seatmates for the ride to Hogwarts.
"Wha- Why do you assume he read all the books like you?!" William shouted.
"Well, he seems the type to do so" Allen shrugged.
"Hahahaha, you are correct Allen, I did read them before coming to school, don't want to fall behind the others" A smirk appeared on Armand's face.
"Not my favorite per se, but I quite liked the Magical Drafts and Potions, it's really interesting how much you can do with ingredients."
"I see, mines are The Standard Book of Spells, Magical Theory and The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection"
"So you know how to cast all the spells from Grade 1?" Armand asked Allen, curious to find if there was someone else like him.
"Not really, I know them, and I'm trying to memorize the incantation and movement, but I guess it's just about practice"
"Yeah, it's just about practice" Armand replied in an uninterested tone now, pulling a book out of his breast pocket.
Allen proceeded to do the same and continued reading his own book, leaving William alone to his own devices.
"Argh, come on! Are you guys serious? We are gonna spend the whole day together, and are you just gonna read a book?"
"Yes" Both of them responded in unison, shocking William as he sat down on his seat again and took out book as well.
"Guys, I'm bored, please, let's talk, I didn't even understand half of what I read"
Allen and Armand looked towards William, who seemed really desperate to do something else.
Allen sighed, closing his book "Alright, what do you wanna do?"
Armand responded in kind, closing his own book as well.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I was thinking that maybe you guys could teach me how to use some basic spells, since both of you know how to do magic more than me"
Armand raised an eyebrow "I definitely can teach you, but didn't Allen said that he only read them?"
"Yes, I read about them, and I struggle to use my wand to cast spells, but I can do just fine if it's something I practiced." His eyes shone with small green light as he created a small ball of flame on top of his wand.
"Yes! I wanna do something like, how did you do it Allen?!" William shouted, jumping on his seat.
"Well, it's like the Fire-Making Spell, just gotta give it more thought before casting it. And sometimes I can't make it work.
Oh, But I do know a spell that always works whenever I use it." Allen shook his head.
"Really?! Show it to us!" William demanded in a childish tone.
"I'd like to see it, if you don't mind"
Allen just nodded, pulling his wand out of his pocket and proceeded to cast it "Magicae Ad Magica" and he could feel his wand respond in kind, absorbing his magic.
Both kids waited for something to happen but after a few moments, everything stayed the same.
"What do you think?" Asked Allen, he wanted to confirm whether other people could see the light coming out of his magic every time he tried it, while it seemed that only he could see it, he didn't want to risk it and tried to fish for information without actually asking. In this case, the Raising Wand Charm let out a small red fog of light which was then absorbed into the wand. He wanted to check if only he could see it.
"Um, nothing happened Allen, are you sure you know to use that spell? What does it even do?"
"I will have to agree with William, Allen, are you sure it did something?"
"Mm, sure did, I felt it"
"Just explain it to us goddammit!"
"Can you please explain it?"
Both kids asked for an explanation on their own way, confirming Allen's suspicions. So they can't see the light coming out.
"Right, it's the Wand Raising Charm, it's to strengthen your relationship between you and your wand, I got the spell from one of Mr Ollivander's book."
"Wand Raising Charm? I'm sorry but this is the first time I hear about it"
"Yeah, me too! My parents never told me about anything like that!"
"I have the book on my trunk, if you guys want to read it, can you help me Armand?"
"Sure"
Armand took out his wand and spoke the incantation for the levitation charm, pulling down his trunk, then, Allen pulled his wand out and casted the same spell on the trunk below, he didn't want to show of the use of his wandless magic any more, it was enough of a mistake to show it to the first kid who came inside his compartment, he wasn't about to show it to a pureblood as well, even if he was a kind one, or at least seemed to be so far. What was I thinking, showing off in front of a kid I just met, I guess I was just too happy to let someone know about what I can do. He let out a long breath. From now on, let's try to hold back on the wandless magic.
He put the trunk on top of Armand's, afterwards he levitated his own trunk as well, he took out the Wandlore book written by Mr Ollivander and showed it to the two boys.
After reading the tittle, both of them looked back at Allen with a pitiful gaze "I think you got scammed pal."
"I'll have to agree with William."
"What? No! I even asked Mr Ollivander about the book when I picked up my wand, it's legit, and even if the tittle sounds suspicious, the contents are the real deal, here, you guys try the spell" Allen encouraged them.
"It's easy, you only need to grab your wand and recite 'Magicae Ad Magica' then you'll feel your magic leave you and making its way to your wand, which in turn will strengthen your relationship with it"
Both boys sighed, not really expecting much "Alright, I'll try it first" expressed William.
"But don't be too disappointed if I can't, alright? I haven't done any magic yet"
"Yes, don't worry, go ahead"
Before William casted the charm, Allen activated his magic, which in turn made his eyes bright with a green light. He could see both of their magic, William's and Armand's,
A grey ball of light shone brightly in the middle of Armand's chest, while in William's case, a yellow light, a size smaller than Armand's. Allen could tell that Armand was used to casting magic, while it really was the first time for William.
"Magicae Ad Magica" Shouted William, pointing his wand to nowhere in particular, and Allen could see the light in his chest moving towards his head, then towards his lower body, which in turn moved to his arms and wand, but as it was getting closer to the wand, the magic dissipated, and the charm failed.
"See? I knew it wouldn't work"
"No, you were doing fine, but you need a clear picture for it to work, try it again, and think that you'll like to get along with your wand, make it your goal!" Allen exclaimed.
"Allen, it's okay, no a lot of people can cast a spell for the first time" Interjected Armand.
"Trust me, this one is really easy, I did it first time, and from the looks of it, you can too"
William sighed, dropping his shoulders "Okay, let me picture it on my head…"
After a few seconds he spoke again.
"Alright, I'm ready" William nodded towards Allen and he nodded in kind.
'Magicae Ad magica' After William finished the last word of the charm, Allen could see his magic running with more force this time, and when it finally reached his wand, it accepted the magic, letting out the yellow fog which it absorbed it back again.
William looked stunned for a moment, then he shouted in joy "Yes! It worked! You were right Allen!"
"I told you so"
"Are you sure it worked?" Asked Armand.
"Yeah, I mean, you can't see anything different, but I could definitely feel something leave me and then going to my wand, like Allen said, my magic."
"Mm, then let me try as well, shall I?"
"Go ahead please" Allen did a small reverence and Armand just let out a chuckle.
'Magicae Ad Magica!' Armand shouted, and just like with William's, Armand magic flowed from his chest, to his head to his lower body, which in turn ran all the way to his arms then his wand, activating the spell.
Allen saw a grey fog this time, bigger than William's which was promptly absorbed by Armand's wand.
He stayed quiet for a minute, then spoke again "You were right, even if you can't see any change, you can still feel it, even if it doesn't strengthen your bonds between your wand and you, its still a good way to practice magic without getting found out or being reprimanded."
Allen went back to his half-active magic, which turned off the light from his eyes "Told you could do it first try." He punched him jokingly in the arm.
Armand looked at Allen with a raised eyebrow, then closed his eyes and let out a small laugh "Of course I could, never doubted myself." A smirk showed on his face.
Uh, he's nothing like the Malfoys from the movies, or books for that matter. Allen smiled back at him.
"Hey, hey, what else should we do?!" William shouted, excited about practicing magic now that he managed to cast something.
"Well, how about this, let's try putting the trunks back on top." As Armand finished the sentence, he looked straight at Allen.
"Alright alright, you first again William?"
"Yeah! Let me try" He pointed the wand at one of the trunks but when he was about to cast the spell, he stayed silent instead.
"Umm, what's the spell and wand movement again?" He asked, looking back at the two of them.
Allen and Armand looked at each other and laughed, not making fun of William, but enjoying the situation they were in.
"It's Wingardium Leviosa" Allen spoke.
"And the want movement it's a swish and flick, here let me show you how to move your wand"
Allen activated his magic again, looking at William's magic as he casted the spell, looking for any errors.
'Wingardium Leviosa' Exclaimed William, letting his magic run through him.
Allen saw the yellow light going to the wand and then, nothing, the spell failed, not because of the wand movement, or because of the wrong pronunciation, everything was alright, the problem was that his magic wasn't used to cast spells.
"You need to try more times, it's probably gonna take longer than with the Wand Raising Charm, but you are doing everything correct, you just need to get used to it"
"How do you know?"
"Yeah, how do you know?" Asked the other boy.
"Mm, I just can" Allen gave the two of them a sly smile and they just raised their eyebrows in a questioning look.
"Here, look, 'Wingardium Leviosa'" He exclaimed, and he could feel his magic running and going all the way to his wand, which responded in kind to his request, making the top trunk float all the way to the top of the compartment.
"Alright William, now try it, should be easier the more you try it"
"You bet! I'm gonna get this down before we get to Hogwarts!"
The three boys then just laughed, maybe they would part ways after getting sorted, but for now, they enjoyed each others company.
