Chapter 10 - Chapter 010

"Bring the items forward!"

Just after Amelia spoke, the door swung open. A burly man wearing a mask walked into the office, holding a huge box. Behind him were two additional well built men who took their stand behind Drew.

"Miss Amelia? what is the meaning of this?" Drew frowned.

"Ah, Mr. Drew, don't take offense. Many people have bid so much but when it reaches time for them to pay, we discover that they are just paupers with big mouths. This is just a preventive safety measure. Mr. Drew should please bear with it"

Drew sneered inwardly when he heard these words.

"Is Miss. Amelia insinuating that i cannot pay up?"

"Time will tell" Amelia flashed him another lovely smile.

Adding the five hundred million you bid on that unknown rock, plus your earlier bid on that medicinal herb the jade eyed ginseng, your total bid amounted to a whooping of eight hundred million. How do you wish to proceed with the payment?"

After Amelia finished speaking, she studied Drew intently.

If the latter showed any sign of discomfort, she would have her men give him a good beating.

A lesson for daring to fool her.

However, Drew was perfectly calm when he heard her words.

"Transfer. Send me your auction house account number"

Amelia relayed the company account number to Drew, who swiftly sent the payment over.

DING!

Amelia gawked at the screen of her Iphone which just lit up. Staring before her was a credit alert of eight hundred million bucks.

So many zeros!!

"Uhm. Miss. Amelia, you should coordinate your behaviour. You are in a public place"

Drew's words snapped Amelia out of her daze. That was when she realized she was drooling.

"I apologize for showing young master Drew an unsightly scene" Amelia's tone became more respectful.

For a young man to squander eight million dollars without batting an eye, the family or organization behind him must be terrifying!

If she could establish connections with such a man, her fate would take a huge leap.

Although the public thought she was living a perfect life since she was the manager of Red Mist Auction House, she was well aware of her situation.

Just like herself, there were other Managers operating various Red Mist Auction house branches. As such, there was a huge competition.

Lately, he profits was beginning to wane. It was only a matter of time before she got replaced.

However, Drew's patronage was like a silver lining, just when she was engulfed in the dark sea of despair.

"Did young master Drew bring a vehicle? it would be weird for you to hold these stuffs in your hands"

"The cab i took is waiting for me outside" Drew shrugged.

"Oh?" Amelia was shocked.

She thought Drew would boast about his ferrari or aston martin.

Surprisingly, he was extremely humble that he took a cab.

When compared to him, she though the other arrogant rich young masters she knew in the past were trash!

However, her face scrunched up in worry when she suddenly recalled a troubling situation.

"Is anything the matter, Miss Amelia?" Drew noticed her change in expression.

"I heard you fell out with young master Jace during the auction?"

"Oh? you mean that clown?" Drew laughed, clearly not taking Jace seriously.

"Young master Drew shouldn't take him slightly. The Caspian family are a local hegemon. Plus young master Jace has a powerful Deviant serving as his body guard" Amelia explained solemnly.

"How about this? i'll prepare a chopper to secretly take you out of here?"

"Are you looking down on me?" Drew snorted with dissatisfaction.

"I believe that Young master Drew isn't simple. However, there would be casualties if you both clash" Amelia hurriedly explained.

Drew sank into silence. Amelia's words made perfect sense. Plus he felt that clashing with Jace was a bad choice.

Currently, he wasn't even as strong as the weakest Deviant.

'Ah! this system is making me grow too arrogant and over confident!'

"Miss. Amelia's words indeed makes perfect sense. However, i need to inform a companion waiting for me outside"

"No problem. While you are at it, allow me to prepare the chopper"

"No problem" Drew fished out his phone.

Luckily, he took Hugo's phone number while they were at his place.

Hugo and Diane stood besides Hugo's taxi. Diane was staring at Red Mist auction house with worry.

Reason was because Jace stood at the entrance. His arms folded on his chest while he flashed a confident smile.

Besides him was a lean man, with a face ridden with frightful scars.

Surrounding them was a dense amount of crowd, conversing among themselves as they waited for Drew to show himself.

"Is the disrespectful brat still in there?" the lean man with scarred face grimaced.

"What Carlos? are you feeling disatisfied with me wasting your time? you can say it if you want" Jace sniggered haughtily.

'Of course i am. It's not like i am your servant or bodyguard' Carlos groaned with displeasure inwardly.

However, he dared not voice these thoughts.

Instead, he graced Jace with a fawning smile.

"How can i think such? i was just pissed off that a spoilt brat dares to delay young master Jace precious time!"

"Hmph! if you care so much, why don't you go in and drag him out eh?"

"I.. I dare not!" Carlos became flustered.

Red Mist Auction House was an entity that he dared not offend.

"Will Drew be all right?" Diane whispered to Hugo.

"I don't know" Hugo clenched his clenched palm.

Drew was the only person capable of curing his son. Naturally, he didn't want anything to happen to him.

However, he had just known Drew for two days. He didn't know how capable he was.

At that moment, his phone rang. Due to the chatterings from the crowd, it didn't make any commotion.

However, Carlos glanced towards their direction but lost interest immediately after discovering it was just a normal taxi man recieving a call.

"Hello?" Hugo was sceptical at who the caller was.

"Hugo, it's me!" a familiar voice rang from the other end.

"Mr. Dr-" Hugo wanted to scream in glee but immediately halted.

The environment was not conducive.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah. I'm fine" Drew laughed.

Hugo gave Diane an eye signal. The both of them got into the taxi.

After rolling up the windows, Hugo breathed out in relief.

"Mr. Drew, you mustn't come out! Mr. Jace is waiting for you at the entrance!" Hugo rushed his words, almost biting his tongue in the process.

"I expected that. However, you shouldn't worry about me. Go back to your house, i'll meet you there in two days time"

Hugo became crestfallen.

"But you promised.."

"Yes i know, but the ingredients are far from complete. I'd look around, hopefully i'll find it. In the meantime, return back to your family. This is the time they need you the most"

Before Hugo could reply, Drew hung up from the other end.

Moments later, his phone beeped, showing a credit alert of ten thousand dollars.

"Ah!" Hugo smiled bitterly.

Mr. Drew will always be Mr. Drew.

"Was it Drew?" Diane asked, to which Hugo nodded.

"What did he say? is he okay?"

"Mr. Drew instructed me to return back home. He will rezendevous with me at my place" Hugo explained.

Diane's face fell as her anticipation dropped. She was expecting to catch a last glimpse of Drew, yet the latter didn't even give her the chance.

"Is your place far from here?" she asked.

"Well, it's at the rural area" Hugo scratched his head.

Diane clenched her jaws as she made the most difficult decision in her life.

"Alright, let's hit the road"

Hugo was confused.

"Won't i drop you at your restaurant ?"

"Don't worry. I'll follow you to your place"
