"Who said that? May i know which expert it is? Perhaps, i'll be able to learn a few things" Julian's lips curled up sarcastically as he glared at the crowd below him.
"I Dare not call myself an expert. However, i am confident that young master Julian had the wrong diagnosis" Drew fiddled with an empty glass cup.
He instantly became the center of attention.
"Isn't that the guy who caused a ruckus earlier?"
"He's pretty bold to dare lecture young master Julian"
"Pah, i bet he's just a clout chaser, seeking young miss Charlotte's attention"
Drew remained unfazed as the insults thrown at him. He had been through much worse scenerios back during his high school and college days.
He had unknowingly cultivated an immunity to such jeerings.
Julian studied Drew. Judging by his appearance, he was bound to be somebody of high status.
"May i know this young master's name?"
"My name isn't important. Curing Mr. Callahan is"
Julian clicked his tongue.
"But just now, you said my diagnosis was wrong. Do you perhaps, know a way?"
Julian was secretly waiting for Drew to embarrass himself.
Want to challenge me in the field of medicine? go train for ten more years, maybe you might have a chance then.
"Kekeke. Young master Julian jests. I won't deny the fact that what you said about the White spider miasma is real, it actually isn't what plagues Mr. Callahan"
"Others might not know, but you shoul be aware of the after effects of the White Spider miasma. Mr. Callahan won't be able to move his lips if he was truly infected"
Julian fell into contemplation. His face warped in confusion.
"You are right. But if it isn't the White Spider miasma, what is it?"
An ambigious smile found it's way onto Drew's lips. He threw a glance towards Mr. Callahan who was sweating profusely.
"Does Sir have a wife?"
Butler Jaimes frowned. Wasn't this invasion of privacy?
Just as he wanted to lash out on Drew, a feeble hand stopped him.
"I had. But we had to divorce ten years ago" Mr. Callahan didn't know why he responded.
Somehow, his gut feeling kept prompting him to trust this young man before him.
"Ah! no wonder. That's where the root of the problem lies" Drew held his temple, as if he suddenly remembered something.
"What?"
The whole crowd stared at Drew curiously. Julian wasn't excluded.
Did this guy somehow discover something?
"Although it wouldn't matter for youths, but for an old man like you, it is extremely lethal!"
Mr. Callahan grimaced when he heard Drew addressing him as an old man.
"Brat! just go straight to the point!" Butler Jaimes felt his patience running out.
"Fine. To put it nicely, Mr. Callahan is suffering from having too much yang energy. There is a certain balance in this world. If Mr. Callahan don't do that thing, all his organs will blow up one day. And i fear that day isn't far from now"
Many of the seasoned experts had unnatural expressions when they heard Drew's diagnosis.
However, many of the ignorant ones were still left in the dark.
One of which was Charlotte.
"Can this young master please explain using simple words?"
Just as Drew made to explain further, Mr. Callahan hurriedly interjected.
"Little Charlie shouldn't bother. I totally understand this young man's words" as he spoke, a red blush appeared on his cheeks.
"Does that mean he can help cure you?" Charlotte's once listless eyes sparked with hope.
"Yes! Yes! Yes!"
Hearing her father's enthusiastic reply, she breathed in relief.
"Today, my eyes has been opened. Not only has this young man made an accurate diagnosis of my condition, he has also proposed a permanent solution. For that, i shall host you all to a banquet!!"
The crowd were stunned. Everything just happened too fast that some even mistook it for some soap opera.
However, they swiftly erupted into cheers when they heard that a banquet would be hosted.
A lady clad in crop top and a bum short sat in front of a mirror.
Behind her, a middle aged lady plaited her hair into beautiful braids.
The lady seated in front of the mirror was Angela, Drew's ex fiancee.
After her awakening as a Deviant, life seemed to be moving favourably for her.
She got herself a rich young celebrity as a boyfriend, became a popular fashion model and began earning thousands of bucks on a weekly basis.
She would've never imagined living such a life of class. Her parents were poor and could only afford to train her till her final class in High school.
It was at that period that she met Drew. He was the class monitor at that time and a lady killer. Every female liked him.
However, he eventually chose her to be his girlfriend.
After High school, Angela explained her family situation to Drew. Being a caring an loyal sort, Drew began working as part time milk delivery man as well as a cleaner, just so he could foot her college tuitions, alongside his own. Although it was rough, they finally graduated.
Drew proposed to her and she agreed. Life seemed to be moving smoothly.
However one day, she discovered that she had unknowingly awakened her RCx cells and become a Deviant.
However, she hid this from Drew. Slowly, she began distancing herself from him, regarding their love as a toad lusting after a swan.
She eventually met Brock Mario a popular teen pop singer at a night club. Brock was smitten by her beauty and thus their relationship started.
Not only was Brock a deviant just like her, he was also loaded. Angela felt like he was the perfect man.
However, she just couldn't bring herself to reveal her relationship with Brock to Drew, due to the sacrifices he'd made for her.
However one day, Brock threatened to break up with her if she didn't allow him to make their relationship public.
Thus that was what led to her break up with Drew, and the latter falling into a coma.
'I should probably check on him?' Angela bit her lower lips.
She felt complicated emotions. Although she didn't love Drew, she felt appreciative of the sacrifice he made for her.
The Callahan's residence was thrown into celebration. Mr. Callahan was half step closer to getting cured.
The news circulated quite fast, reaching the ears of many big wigs in the city.
Although Mr. Callahan couldn't be compared to the patriarchs of the top families in the city, he still had some political and business influence.
The once cramed parking lot became even more crammed as many big wigs living in the city dropped by to express their congratulations.
Luxury gifts were showered on Mr. Callahan, who had to always maintain that big smile on his lips.
As for Drew, he sat besides Julian at the banquet table, observing the lively scenery.
Witnessing the outflow of expensive gifts, he felt his heart ache.
If only he could buy them all. They would really rake out a huge sum of deci points.
Just at that moment, he felt a gentle tap on his arm.
Looking over, he saw that it was Julian.
"Do you need anything?" Drew spoke aggressively.
He thought the former was trying to find fault with him.
"Chill man. I come in peace!" Julian laughed.
It was now Drew's turn to be confused.
"What's up with that look on your face. Were you expecting a fall out between us?" Julian asked teasingly.
"I stole your limelight after all" Drew smiled wryly.
"I am not that narrowminded. You won thanks to your own capabilities and i admire you for that"
Drew was shocked. Judging from Julian's eyes, his words were sincere.
Drew couldn't help but wonder —
Were young rich scions always this reasonable?
