Steve held his cheeks which had an obvious red hand print. He glared daggers at the culprit.
"Brat! you are so dead!"
Drew sneered in response.
"Why am i still standing alive and kicking?"
He wasn't scared of Steve retaliating. He secretly used 'Analysis' on the latter. The results showed he just had the combat strength of a peak athlete.
He wasn't even a Deviant.
Steve huffed and left, ashamed to show his face to the public after suffering such humilation.
Worst of all, he couldn't do anything about. Judging by his attacker's speed, he was definitely a Deviant.
After Steve left, the garden went back to it's usual liveliness. The earlier rukus was just a farce.
"You.. You shouldn't have done that!" Amelia bit her lips, her expression scrunched up with worry.
"Did what exactly?" Drew threw a piece of grilled meat into his mouth, munching on it with relish.
Amelia became incensed when she saw Drew's unbothered reaction.
"You shouldn't have slapped Steve! atleast not in such a public place!"
Drew frowned. He was displeased at Amelia's cowardice.
"Are you listening to yourself right now? that jerk insulted your womanly dignity in public"
"But i slapped him!"
"It dosen't change the fact that he was a jerk. There are three things i hate in this life, and jerks are one of them" when Drew spoke, he couldn't help but recall the video of Angela dancing in the night club, while being rocked by a male.
Come to think of it, he didn't even know which male it was.
Whatever, he'd just deal with those two later.
"But you've completely offended him. I'm definitely going to recieve a sack letter by tomorrow" Amelia dug her exquisitely shaped teeth into her nails, her eyes nervously darting about.
'She looks kind of cute when flustered'
"Erm. That reminds me. I was thinking of opening a business" Drew cleared his throat.
But just at that moment, a loud voice barked.
"Mr. Callahan makes his appearance!!"
Instantly, the guests turned their attention towards a single spot.
A middle aged man was led into the garden by two servants and an old man clad in an english outfit befitting of a typical Butler.
The middle aged man currently had a pale expression and tiny strands of grey hair. He was supported by the Butler as they made their way over.
Trailing directly behind them was a beautiful lady who seemed to be at her early twenties. Her aurburn hair was styled in a small low bun with vintage curls, her cherry red lips had a strange allure of enticement within them and her phoenix eyes had an unsuppressable seductive glint in them.
As Charlotte made her way over, she felt the hungry gazes of the males latched on her.
Disgusting!
Mr. Callahan was brought to a huge chair that resembled a throne. After being seated comfortably, he waved feebly while flashing out his most weakest smile.
"I am really gratified to see so many faces. This old man is honoured"
"Mr. Callahan shouldn't say such. We are all locals of Delta City. It is our job to look after each other"
The one who spoke was a young man with a refined bearing.
Although it looked like he was addressing Mr. Callahan, his eyes never left Charlotte.
"I never expected young master Julian to come!" Amelia gasped.
"Is he amazing?"
"He is a third heir of the Wayne family. They are comparable to the Zlad family in Delta city. They are the kings of the city" Amelia explained.
"Hahaha. So it is young master Julian! i heard that you once studied under Divine Physician Mullock" Mr. Callahan laughed, although he tried his best not to laugh.
"I am undeserving of Mr. Callahan's praises" although Julian said this, the proud smile on his lips completely said it all.
"Alright. Who wants to go first?" Mr. Callahan didn't bother mincing words.
The whole crowd instantly turned their attention towards Julian. In the whole gathering, he was probably the only one with the greatest status.
"Go on. I Julian am a man who loves dealing with fairness and equality" Julian pledged righteously.
The crowd sighed in relief.
"Then i will shamelessly make the first move!" a middle aged man with hairy beards walked up towards Mr. Callahan.
He held Mr. Callahan's wrist and closed his eyes. The whole crowd watched with heated gazes. Ten seconds barely passed before the middle aged man opened his eyes.
"So?" both Butler Jaimes and Charlotte chorused.
The middle aged man cleared his throat like a seasoned expert.
"My analysis claims that Mr. Callahan has malaria"
"Fuck off!" Butler Jaimes kicked the fake doctor off the podium.
Malaria? how could a powerful Deviant contact Malaria?!
Others began to make their attempts. However, the results weren't promising at all.
It was either they would shake their head due to their ignorance, or sprout out nonsense diagnosis.
All in all, nobody knew what ailment Mr. Callahan was suffering from.
Meanwhile, Julian just watched the comical display, a jeering sneer etched on his lips.
What a bunch of buffons.
He felt only him alone had the highest probability of giving an accurate diagnosis.
He unconsciously glanced at Charlotte's direction. Upon seeing her look of discomfort, he dusted himself up.
Time to shine!
"Ah. It really breaks my heart to see that nobody has found the root of Mr. Callahan's plague" he spoke self righteously as he took brisk steps forward.
"Allow me to try my hand"
The crowd erupted into burst of excitement when they saw that Julian was about to make a move.
It was a public knowledge that the third young master of the Wayne family once studied under the tutelage of Divine Physician Mullock.
Divine Physician! this was a very respected title.
There were Pharmacists, Nurses and Doctors. However, in the presence of a Divine Physician, these profession were like child's play.
Anywhere they went, Divine Physicians would be treated with the utmost respect. Their medicinal skills were top notch!
"Let's see what you got" Drew mumbled.
He didn't believe Julian would make the right diagnosis.
Reason was because he was quite confident in himself.
Julian held Mr. Callahan's wrist, stroking them softly with his eyes shut.
Everyone held their breath. Would young master Julian be able to do it?
"Mr. Callahan happens to suffer from the White Spider miasma" Julian finally opened his eyes.
"Huh?" everyone was dumbfounded.
What White Spider miasma? does such a thing even exist.
Seeing the look of ignorance around him, Julian puffed out his chest.
"The White Spider miasma is a deadly poison. Just like it's name, it exists in gaseous form. However, it's base form is solid"
"The White Spider miasma is gotten from the eggs of a White Spider. They are the size of melon seeds. These eggs are then grounded into powder and sprinkled into a boiling pot of food or kettle of tea. This powder then undergoes a metamorphis into gaseous form, blending into steam"
"Let's say you add a powder of White Spider eggs into a boiling pot of pasta. Once the pasta is ready and you inhale a whiff of it's aroma, you get infected"
Julian finished his explaination.
"I am impressed!"
"Such a poison exists?"
"Tsk. Tsk. As expected of a prodigy who was toncd taught by a Divine Physician"
"Young master Julian is even more amazing than the rumors paint him to be"
Julian relished in the feeling of being showered with accolades. Just as he wanted to reply with his usual faux humility, a voice suddenly snickered —
"Your diagnosis is wrong!"
