Chapter 10 - It's about time you make me OP

*Phew* I panted as I lay on the ground. For the past 17 days, I've been improving my usage of 'Flash Steps' by using my ability until I ran out of mana and even though my mastery level had improved, I was far from attaining mid-level mastery for now.

"Maybe I might be able to complete this mission before the time runs out," I muttered as I struggled to get up.

Also, apart from improving my mastery for 'Flash Steps', I also worked on improving my mastery for my other abilities as well. That way, I would be more efficient in both fighting and running away.

"Brother, your admission letter from the royal academy has been delivered and you'll also be leaving soon, a carriage will be here to pick you up tomorrow," Leon shouted as he ran towards me, "now I can brag to all my friends that my brother is really amazing, he got admitted into the royal academy."

"Tsk, stop using me to show off and start doing things you can brag about," I said as I hit his head with a light knock.

"Brother, you know I'm still 14 and my cultivation talent is not really something I can brag about and even after I volunteered to join the army, it still didn't make me popular," he said looking a bit downcast "so, I'll have to depend on you."

"Alright," I said with a sigh "I need to start packing my things." This boy shamelessness was already starting to go out of hand, I really need to teach him a lesson."

*knock* *knock*

"Is this the home of Kai Everette?" A man with the royal army badge asked.

"Yes, I'm Kai Everette. Are you the one who will take me to the royal academy?" I asked as I glanced at the badge on his chest.

"Yes, and if you're ready to leave, let's head to the carriage," he answered.

"Brother, I'm going to miss you," Leon said amidst tears.

Although a person could leave the royal academy, they could only leave after they've stayed for a year or joined the main academy, and no one could come visit them.

"Don't worry, I'll be back before you know it," I said with a light smile as I gave him a hug.

"Alright brother, I'll wait for you to come back," he said, "just make sure you end up as the strongest or I might just surpass you," he said with a chuckle.

~ "Are you guys done with your chit-chat?" Sophie asked, a bit annoyed.

"Oh, you were here all along?" I asked with my brows raised.

"Why would I not be here, or did you forget I also asked the king for admission to the royal academy?"

"Let's start going, I don't have the strength to debate with you."

"So, this is the royal academy," I muttered as I stepped out of the carriage.

The royal academy was huge and even though it was located in the soul beast mountain zone, it was still as large as some of the major cities in the kingdom.

Also, the amount of cultivation resources here that was available to every student was really numerous and even though I was still at the outer academy, I was seeing so many students carrying soul shards around.

"I wonder how the main academy will be like," I muttered.

"Alright let's go check in, we can't stay here all day," Sophie said.

"We'll like to check in, we're new students," I said as I handed my admission letter to the woman at the desk.

"Ok, you're Kai Everette. You'll be taken to the Advance stage cultivators' class in the outer academy."

"Why am I being sent to the outer academy? With my talent, I deserve to be in the main academy," I said.

"Boy, if you know all the rules, why don't you come over here and do my work," she replied to me with a trace of displeasure in her voice.

Seems like she's a bit annoyed, I said inwardly.

"Anyway, here's your student card. It contains all your basic information, and the amount of energy points you have and based on your current cultivation, you are going to receive 25 energy points per month," she said, "also, the energy points is the school currency. You can use it to purchase whatever you want if it is within the academy."

"So, if you need more, you can just create your own guild or join a guild, the academy allows you to," she said before continuing, "and if you want to move to the main academy, you can participate in the annual tournament hosted by the academy. If you manage to make it to the top 20, you'll be promoted to the main academy but if you're not interested in that, you can just wait until you become an expert stage cultivator."

"Seems like the academy still considers people like me weak," I muttered with a sigh.

Although my cultivation talent was not really special, it was not also bad, so I believed I was supposed to be in the main academy, but it seems like I was wrong. Only Expert stage cultivators and above were valued by the academy.

"What if I'm still an Advance stage cultivator and I managed to get a spot among the top 20 during the tournament, will I still remain in the outer academy?" I asked.

"No, you'll be promoted to the main academy as long as you manage to get a spot among the top 20, your cultivation doesn't matter."

"Anyway, Sophie Winston, you'll be taken to the main academy shortly also, here's your student card," she said, "you'll be receiving 50 energy points every month, and you can also create or join a guild."

"Alright, give me a minute I'll get someone to take you around the academy."

"Seems like I have to work really hard huh," I muttered inwardly "Alright system get ready, it's about time you make me OP."
