Damon's POV
My mate, Lu-Ann was asleep all throughout the remaining of the afternoon and all throughout the night. My parents and I had her checked out by Cleo, the pack doctor and it was relieving when she said everything was fine. That my mate only needed to sleep.
I slept with her that night after two omegas gave her a warm bath. I knew she would not appreciate it if she was told tomorrow that I was the one who undressed her and gave her a warm bath.
I brought out one of my shirts and had the omegas dress her with it. That's at least one of the things I know about her; she likes wearing my clothes when sleeping. I wanted her to wear it as well, so that even though she is asleep, maybe I can reach out to her subconscious through my scent and remind her that I am here for her.
I embraced her all throughout the night. Letting her feel my warmth and reveling in her closeness as well. Inhaling her scent takes away the stress, the anxiety of what the future holds for us. I deeply inhale her scent and let its calming effect work throughout my body, leading me to a deep sleep I have not had since the rogue attack on Dark Moon Pack.
I wake up early, just as the sky was starting to lighten up. I look at my mate still in my embrace, and still in a deep sleep. She must have really been tired yesterday. I kiss her by her forehead then slowly ease my arms away from her shoulders. I needed to use the bathroom. I seat on the side of the bed and link two warriors to stand by my bedroom door. I wasn't taking the chance that my mate might wake up while I was in the bathroom, and she would disappear again.
She was still asleep when I get out of the bathroom, showered and changed so I take a book from the shelf and start reading to pass the time while I wait for my mate to wake up.
"How is she this morning?" My mother links me.
"Haven't woken up yet, but she looks fine. I think she might be waking up anytime soon." I answer her. Feeling hopeful.
"Update us if anything else happens. Would you like coffee? I'll have a cup brought up to you."
"Yes. Thanks mom." We both close the link after. Soon after, I see her eyes open. I stay still, observing her, waiting for her to fully wake up and see me first. I see her eyes roam around, then she sees me by the foot of the bed. She smiles as she sits up.
I get up from the chair I was seating on and walk near her, seating beside her by the bed. "How do you feel?"
"Very well rested. How long have I been asleep?" She asks softly.
"You've been out since past two o'clock yesterday."
Silence. As I see her thinking. She was biting her lower lip and looking anywhere but me.
"Sweetie? Can you tell me where you have been yesterday?" I slowly ask her.
"I don't know." She says, obviously trying to think. I had an inkling she wouldn't remember where she had been when she wakes up. She looked so lost yesterday when we saw her, and she was so tired. As if she travelled so far away.
I reach out to get her sweatshirt bag. "Maybe this can help you remember." I show her and she reaches out to take it. She takes a look at the golden fruits and immediately remembers.
"I got this from your forest." She says, remembering immediately.
"Where in the forest?" I don't remember any tree in our forest ever that yielded these kinds of fruits.
"There was a stream. And there were flowers everywhere. There was this one tree, and these were hanging down from the branches." She explained, suddenly remembering.
I knew, there wasn't a part of our pack land that had a stream with flowers around it. I knew the forest like the back of my hand as I have been roaming it ever since I can run and especially when I had my wolf.
"When we found you, you said we're going to need this. What did you mean about that?" I ask her.
She didn't speak immediately.
"I saw you. When I was there, I saw you. Your skin was falling from your bones. Everyone around you were either dead or wishing to die. Everyone's skin was decaying. The stench, there was this strong stench of decay and yet, a lot of the pack were still alive. Everyone was moaning in pain." She has tears flowing from her eyes as she stops talking and I went to embrace her. She embraces me tightly as well, seeming to need my strength.
I have heard of this vision from the pack witch. She has come to us before with this vision but because she could not say when, we couldn't do anything but wait. And now, even my mate has seen this in her vision.
We let a few minutes pass before I ask her. "Are you hungry?"
She nods as someone knocks on the door. It must be the coffee.
"Go on and freshen up. Then we'll both raid the kitchen." I link the cook to make us breakfast and link my parents that we need to have another meeting, perhaps with the pack witch.
I went to the other room to get clothes for Lu-ann. Perhaps I should just have her clothes transferred to mine. I went back to my bedroom and place the shorts, top and underwear on top of the bed. I know I should just leave to give her privacy, but no, not taking that risk.
She comes out in a towel and was startled when she sees me sitting on the bed, sipping my coffee. I motion to the clothes on the bed with my lips and she snatches them up, rushing back to the bathroom.
We all sit quietly in my father's office as we wait for the pack witch. Present were my parents, me and Lu-ann, father's Beta, and Mark, my future Beta. Lu-ann's fruits are now seating in a bowl on top of the coffee table, glowing and enticing. Everyone was curious about it, but no one dared to touch it as we still didn't know how these fruits can really help us when Lu-ann's and the pack witch's visions come true.
Finally, Stella, the pack witch comes in, giving respect first to my parents then bowing to us as well before sitting on an armchair in front of the coffee table.
The King Alpha starts the meeting. "I called this meeting because of a vision that Stella had six months before now and the same vision that Lu-Ann, the future Queen Luna also had yesterday."
"Everyone of us will write down everything that we understand of the vision as Stella and Lu-Ann narrate their visions. We are to find common occurrences with this visions, common ideas, the differences as well and all points needed. The purpose of this meeting is for us to be able to know when these visions may happen, what we can do to prevent them and if there may be other same occurrences that may occur."
The Queen Luna then speaks to Stella. "We know you have already narrated to us of your vision, but if you could retell it once again so we can take and compare to her vision?"
After Stella, Lu-Ann also narrated her visions starting from the owl. She still insists that there was a part of the forest that had a stream with flowers and a tree yielding the fruits she brought.
Afterwards, Stella asked every one of us to touch the fruits one by one. This is to test who among us can handle the fruits when needed. The fruits have lesser glow now, but Stella said that if you touch it and it glows, you will be one of those who can handle the fruits when needed.
The King Alpha held them first but there was no change. Then the Queen Luna, dad's Beta, Mark, then me. The fruits did not at all change in color. When Lu-Ann held the fruits, all the fruits glowed, like pure gold and we were all awed.
Stella then explained that these fruits should be preserved and kept hidden until they are needed. They should be kept where no one can just easily touch it or get it. It is said that only one she-wolf at one time is gifted enough to be able to communicate to the Goddess and be given these fruits of health. So, if anyone of the other packs, get a whiff of these fruits, they would be under constant attack or Lu-Ann would be in grave danger as the carrier and protector of the fruits.
