"Kaylee informs me you had a vision." Immediately, Alpha Cain got to the point of the little get together. I faced the Alpha.
"Yes Alpha. We had a meeting about that this morning at the Dark Midnight Pack."
I said as I looked at Damon, confirming that I can talk about the meeting with my pack leaders.
Alpha Cain then looks at Damon respectfully, his head slightly bowed. "If we may Prince Alpha, may we know what this vision was all about?"
Damon acknowledged Alpha Cain's respectful tone but still led the meeting, asserting his authority. "May we know why we are here in the first place?"
Kaylee answered for the group. Immediately relating the story of why she asked everyone to get to Alpha Cain's office.
When we entered my bedroom, I immediately went to open the windows to let the fresh air in but I smelled something else. It was faint but it was there. Kaylee saw me sniffing and paused what she was about to say. Softly, with fear in her voice, she asks, "What is it?"
"The stench. The stench in my vision. It's here." I look at Kaylee in horror.
"Are you sure?" Kaylee asked as she comes near me by the window, sniffing as well. She looks at me, as if saying, I don't smell anything.
"It's here." I insist. "It may be far, or in a closed room because it's faint. But I smell it here." My voice was now rising in panic.
Kaylee pulls me as she goes out the door. "Let's meet them at the Alpha's office, they're going there right now." She says and by them I think she meant the Alpha, Beta, future alpha and future Beta as well as the Luna of Dark Moon Pack. Then I see her call someone on her cellphone.
Damon then relayed to them a summary form of the meeting we had at the Dark Midnight Pack and how I wanted to come here.
Everyone looked at me as Alpha Cain repeated Kaylee' question.
Alpha Cain repeated Kaylee's question earlier. "Are you sure about this Lu-Ann?"
I held Damon's hand tightly. "Yes. The stench is faint but I know its here."
"Has no one ever reported feeling unusually sick in your pack?" Damon asked Alpha Cain.
"No one. But I can open the pack link and ask everyone right now." Alpha Cain said and Damon nodded. "It would be better so we would know. These visions of sickness by our pack witch and Lu-Ann showed extreme pain and hardship in every pack it touches. If it has started here, we should immediately find the affected and see how we can stop it from spreading."
We all keep silent as Alpha Cain opens the pack link and ask everyone of the pack if anyone is feeling unusually sick or has any skin disease that they cannot explain. After a few minutes, Alpha Cain talks to the us.
"No one is affirming of any unusual or skin disease."
"The rogue." Jason, the future Alpha, who was initially observing, talked for the first time.
"One of the attackers?" Mark asked.
"Yes."
"So, how do we confirm that it is him?" Alpha Cain asked me, and everyone looked at me again. Goddess! I wish they didn't have to always put me in the spotlight.
I shrugged. "I go and smell him perhaps." I tell them.
"Wouldn't that be putting you in danger sweetie?" Damon asked.
"I don't think so. Once I smell him from a distance, I would know if it were him."
"Okay. I'll come with you." Damon says and I don't refute him. I have a hunch the disease is not transferrable by smell or touch.
"I'll come too." Kaylee stands up and waits for me to stand up as well. I almost groaned. I think I'm starting to get tired of looking for trouble... and looking for solutions.
Damon almost pulls me up and says to the group. "We will be back after we confirm."
As I pass by Mark, I unintentionally touch his hand. He was the one who suggested that the disease may already have started. He looked at me and nodded, acknowledging my acknowledgement of his accuracy.
The little touch seem to have triggered a fleeting vision. It was of Mark and other warriors victoriously wrapping up bodies in a forest.
This vision flashed in my mind as I was walking with Damon, whose hand was around my waist. "Are you okay?" He asks as my foot slows down. I nod. I will tell them about that vision when needed.
The three of us walk outside the pack house where a black SUV was waiting and ready for us to use. Alpha Cain's gamma was at the driver seat. He must have been linked by Alpha Cain.
The drive to the prison house was very short; we could have walked there and got back in fifteen minutes if not for the time sensitivity of the task. As we get out of the car, I was immediately enveloped with the stench of the dead. It came so strong, filling my nostrils and I gagged. I covered my nose and my mouth with my hand as I look at Damon and Kaylee who were looking at me in shock while sniffing the air.
"What is it Lu-Ann?" Both of them asked almost at the same time while Alpha Cain's gamma looked at me with a puzzled expression.
"It's the stench." I say, fully covering my mouth and nose.
The three of them sniff the air but obviously smell nothing. Damon takes off his shirt and walks behind me. "Let's try this." He says as he folds his shirt in a triangular shape, covering my mouth and nose then tying it around my head. I breath easier as I smell Damon's scent.
"Better?"
"Best. Thank you." I say with a smile that reached my eyes.
We walk down to the dungeon after Kaylee opens the steel door, as the prison was located underground. Only a little iron door protruding from the ground can be seen from the outside. Alpha Cain's Gamma stays behind to be sure we are not to be attacked as we come out later on.
Two guards are standing behind concrete pillars. They are not seen by anyone walking outside, giving the aura that the building is empty. I see six guards in total as we reach the prisoner. The last two guards standing outside the cell where the rogue is located.
We stop outside a cell with silver bars and I look at the rogue inside. At this time, I felt so grateful of Kaylee's presence who held my hand and Damon, who had his hand around my shoulder.
Even with my vision, I actually never knew what to expect when the disease is caught by us, but this was not it. The rogue was lying on the ground, his eyes wide awake. He was making small growling sounds that came out like whimpers. But what really shocked us were the maggots coming out of his mouth and ears. Even with Damon's shirt, I can still smell the stench and I knew they do as well as they both covered their noses.
The rogue's body was actually almost colored gray and black and there were maggots coming out from his wounds. Not saying anything, we all turned back and heard more whimpers from the rogue. We knew he wanted to die, but we had to think it through before doing anything. We quickly walked out of the dungeon, locking the steel door behind and I hear both Damon and Kaylee breathe deeply. I kept Damon's shirt on as I knew my scent of smell was stronger and I would still smell it even if we were outside.
We came to the office, and everyone looks at us for confirmation. Coffee was served while we were gone as some of them had coffee in hand.
It was Damon who confirmed. "It seems the vision has already started. The rogue's disease was obviously at a very progressive stage."
Silence followed Damon's announcement.
I felt the questions in everyone's mind and looked at Damon uncertainly, knowing I would be bombarded with questions. But I also knew I could not just give them answers as my pack and my mate's pack could be endangered.
"Pull out the guards of your prisoners for now and let no one else enter the dungeon. But make sure the dungeon is still guarded as the other rogues might try to get him back. Thus, the disease could be transmitted to the others. We will have to go back to the Dark Midnight territory and study this further. We will immediately inform you what we have to do." Damon announces to the group assembled at Alpha Cain's office.
"Is my pack in grave danger Prince Alpha?" Alpha Cain asked.
Damon looked at me and I looked at Alpha Cain. "I don't think it is easily transmissible. As long there is no blood spilt from the infected, no one else will catch the disease."
