Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

"Oh!" exclaimed Cynthia, "and toss in those daggers," she pointed to two twin daggers handing on the wall, one red and one silver, "They'd look cool with her eyes!"

"Eyes?" stuttered the clerk who looked at Enyo, then Cynthia. "I'm sorry!" he bowed, hittin' his head off the desk, "I had-I didn't-I didn't notice your eyes, I'm sorry madam Cynthia! Miss Enyo!"

"Yeah, yeah," muttered Cynthia, "Just give it here."

The clerk nodded and ran around for a minute, then returned with a box. He handed it to Cynthia who took it and ignored him. "Have a good day?" he whimpered.

Cynthia glared at him and walked out, Enyo following behind. They returned to the seamstress who smiled and handed Enyo a bag of clothes, "Why don't you get changed?"

Enyo nodded and walked into one of the expensive dressing rooms. The floor was covered in a thick velvet carpet and there was a mirror the size of a movie theater screen on one side of the room.

Enyo quickly pulled the new uniform on. It was all black, except for the red thread that ran throughout. On her shoulder and back was Father's symbol. The suit fit perfectly and she walked out.

"Excellent fit!" exclaimed the seamstress.

Cynthia nodded, "It looks good… but it's missing something."

Enyo waited as Cynthia walked over to her and tied Enyo's hair up into a messy bun. Her bangs flopped to the side. "Naomi would be pissed," laughed Cynthia, "But I think it looks good!"

Cynthia pulled out the red dagger and wrapped it around Enyo's thigh. Then she wrapped the silver one around her arm. She hung one of the pistols on the belt and tossed a few packs of ammo into a pocket on the belt. "Excellent!" clapped the seamstress.

"I couldn't agree less," said a voice from behind them.

The mood in the room changed into one of awkward and hostile silence. Cynthia quickly broke it, "Father!" she exclaimed, "What are you doing here?"

Father walked over to Enyo, "She looks excellent huh?"

The seamstress nodded in fear as Father pulled out his gun and pointed it at Enyo. "Wait-" BANG!

Enyo jumped back, avoiding the bullet. A smoking hole appeared in the floor and the seamstress dove for cover. "Nice," said Father, "Looks like you're ready!"

"I don't think-" said Cynthia.

"Enough," waved Father, "I decide, and I decide it's time for her to be put on duty."

Enyo sighed as she dressed herself. The suit had grown with her a she had grown. It looked pretty much the same except the symbols on her shoulder and back were gone now. All that was left was black cloth. She grabbed her daggers and fastened them, then added her gun.

2 minutes! Pinged a text from Hemlock.

She gritted her teeth and pulled on her modified combat boots. They were flexible enough not to be broken by her speed and strong enough to protect her ankles. She ran down the stairs and out of the house, phone in hand.

1 minute!

She ran past rows and rows of houses that blurred as she picked up speed. Up ahead she could see the parking lot. Ten feet away, she braced her legs and jumped. If one didn't know any better, they would have thought she flew.

She didn't, she simply jumped. With excellent coordination and aim, she pulled out her gun and shot. BANG! The bullet flew out and Hemlock narrowly dodged.

She landed on the parking lot with a thump. It was dark and damp. The lights flickered and if not for the fading sunlight outside, it would have been completely pitch dark. "You know," said Hemlock, "Tornado foresaw a storm today!"

Enyo glared at him, "Where's Max."

"Tut, tut," said Hemlock, "Not even gonna say hi to an old friend?"

BANG! The bullet flew past Hemlock's face before he could react. It hit the mirror on the side of a car behind him. Hemlock stumbled, "Okay! Okay, I got it… he's back there! Anaya!"

Enyo turned and looked at where Hemlock had pointed at. Suddenly Anaya appeared, walking up the stairs. In her hand, she held a very conscious Max. "Put me down!" he yelled, banging on Anaya's arm.

Anaya ignored him and dropped him hard on the floor, "Ah!" he yelped, then he looked up, "Enyo! What are you doing here? Your brother… he… and is this buff person your sis?"

Enyo glared at Hemlock, "Seriously? Brother? Also how badly did you drug him?"

Hemlock shrugged, "You know me…I'll do anything for revenge," he gave her an evil grin.

Anaya picked up Max and Enyo froze. "Don't do it…" she whispered, but Anaya just gave Enyo an equally evil grin.

"NO!" she shouted as Max screamed and was thrown off the edge.
