Chapter 1 - Awakening

_Mmmh! Mmmh?_

_Auwrgh! My head! _

_What happened? Why does my head hurt so much?_

A figure of a young man stirs on the floor near the wall experiencing an excruciating headache. Feeling as if someone's slowly turning a drill in his head, all he is feeling is a 'tiing' echoing in his mind.

Raising his right hand subconsciously, he massaging his temples mildly easing the pain. It was then he noticed his current condition.

Slowly opening his eyes with difficulty, the first thing that greeted him was the sight of his blood stained shirt. His mind froze trying to make out the current situation. His mind subconsciously ignored the splitting headache he was experiencing squeezing every ounce of energy to make out a logical explanation.

He was sitting on the floor, his body slightly arced leaning on the wall behind him and his head slinging forward with his right hand on his temple and left hand laying loosely to the side.

He tries hard to remember what is it that led to his current situation but his mind is messed up he can't make out anything making him feel frustrated.

_Sigh! Fine. I will figure that out later, first I need to get to the infirmary, this headache is killing me! _

Deciding on his next course of action, he straightened his upper body which he regretted the next moment. A flood of immense pain flooded his mind almost causing him to lose consciousness. Bitting his lips and gritting his teeth, he let out a grunt, his face twisting in anguish as veins popped on his forehead looking as though he was about to go mad from the experience.

About ten minutes later the pain had receded to a bearable level. He woken from his state by the sound of something or someone as at moment did he realize he was not alone in the room. Focusing his gaze ahead of him he could make out the figure of someone. He had to put an effort for his vision to become clear.

Beside a desk about three metres ahead of him, a figure in a torn white lab coat was kneeling on one knee. His left hand on his knee, while the right on the desk, the figure was coughing from time to time.

Seeing the figure, a name popped up in Adrian's mind. "Professor Stein?" Adrian asked with a weak voice but it was enough the figure to hear him.

Upon hearing the voice, professor Stein, turned his head slowly to face Adrian. Upon Adrian's and professor Stein gaze locking onto each other, Adrian's eyes constricted to the size of needles as his heartbeat accelerated. Silence prevailed in the room for a few seconds as none of them said anything but just stared at each other, difference being one eyes were filled with horror while the other were red and emotionless.

Professor Stein's eyes were red with only a tiny black at the center exuding a sense of madness to those looking at them, his skin tone had turned grey and two barely noticeable protrusions on his forehead. The only word in Adrian's head after seeing the professor was, demon.

Seeing Adrian's horrified expression, the professor raised his left hand and realized he had changed. Adrian was expecting him to be shocked after realizing he had changed, but he could not even see the slightest bit of surprise when the professor turned to him.

The expression the professor had when he turned to Adrian was one of pity which left Adrian bewildered. Professor Stein stood up slowly and with slow steps moved towards Adrian.

When the professor started walking towards him, Adrian's right hand subconsciously reached out for the wrench among the tools scattered on the floor.

Professor Stein halted for a second seeing Adrian's action before resuming his slow approach while slightly shaking his head. Stopping one meter away from Adrian, he stopped and looked down at him. All the while Adrian's eyes never left the professor.

Bending down slowly, professor Stein helped Adrian stand up slowly. Adrian's mind was in chaos at the moment that he did not resist, well even if he wanted he could not do much.

After helping up Adrian, he sighed looking at Adrian's right hand that was holding the wrench, surprisingly it was shaking, maybe because of fright. He turned to face Adrian.

"What a pity?" He said to Adrian his voice almost devoid of any emotion.

Hearing the professor, Adrian forced a defeated smile.

A sudden surge of pain in his head almost caused him to fall adding to the torment he was already enduring. Luckily the professor still held to him so that he didn't fall. Memories of his predecessor, the owner of the body he currently occupied played in his head like a film while at the same time the pain escalated.

For about five minutes, professor Stein watched Adrian close his eyes, clench his jaw, tighten his grip on the wrench he was holding with his right hand while his left clenched to fist, later on veins popped on his forehead as he then began to sweat. It looked as if he was enduring an unimaginable pain.

Adrian was breathing heavily when all that torture came to an end. From the memories he got, the previous owner of the body was also called Adrian, twenty years old and he was an orphan. He was what you would refer to as a genius. He was a second year student at prestigious University. The former year he came up with an algorithm formula that if he completed successfully, would earn him the position equal to the number one leading scientist in the country but, his 'best' friend stole it and gave it to a senior student to present as their own thesis.

" Are you ok?" the professor's voice pulled him back from his thoughts. At this time his body had relaxed a bit.

"I'm fine professor, though why are you asking. From the way things are, I don't see a good ending for me, right?" Adrian replied with a low voice that only the professor could hear.

Professor Stein was slightly surprised by his reply. "You're smart, that's why I feel it's a pity to kill someone as intelligent as you."

_Ofcourse I'm right!_ Was Adrian's thought hearing professor Stein.

" So why haven't you acted? You know the longer you prolong, someone might just interrupt you before you do it."

" Hahaha, you are right, I prolonged this long enough." The professor laughed as his voice start changing demonic. The hand holding Adrian's shoulder slightly increased pressure making Adrian let out a glunt of pain.

" Any last words?" Professor Stein asked Adrian. At this time his aura had changed.

Just as Adrian opened his mouth to say something, the world seemed to change. The whole world seemed to shudder fiercely. Even the professor seemed in a daze almost falling on his back. At the same time he released Adrian. Adrian felt a suffocating pressure, something inside him had changed but couldn't put a finger on what had changed.

About ten seconds seconds later, everything return to normal like passing illusion.

Adrian was stunned as a blue message appeared on his retina. Then he became ecstatic as although he had never seen one he had read something similar in his previous life.
