Currently, Adrian's aura had changed. His eyes turned red and after killing over hundred enemies, the smell of blood surrounding him was thick, giving him a savage aura that no one wanted to provoke nor approach. Maybe it was the reason all those following him never uttered a word in fear of provoking him.
Adrian dashed relentlessly from left to right swinging the sword again and again. Along the way, he saved more students and teachers.
At some point, his muttering turned from ' If the mind doesn't accept reality easily, I'll force reality into the mind. ' to ' kill, kill, kill... '. This change made those following him begin to worry. Some even planned to leave the group but none made a move. They were afraid their actions might provoke him instead, most had the same ideology except for one girl.
She was the girl Adrian saved from the mutated white cat and the first person Adrian saved. She didn't recognize him at first, but after observing him for sometime, she recognized him.
Adrian figure had changed after leveling up many times. Though the change wasn't that much, if you didn't observe him closely, you might not recognize him.
The girl was excited after learning her saviour was someone she knew, infact Adrian was her number one idol.
Adrian didn't know he had a saved someone who idolized him, never would he have ever even thought there was someone in this world who idolize him. Currently, his thoughts had taken a drastic turn, he wanted to survive, he fought to survive. At some point, he started to hear a voice in his head telling him to kill over and over again. Not long after his mind got affected by the words that he started saying them out loud.
His body seem to have grown a mind of its own, frantically killing, fortunately his targets were zombies, oversized insects and mutated animals. Several messages flashed in his retina but he didn't pay any attention to them.
His stamina was slowly depleting and soon he stopped when ran out of stamina. He leaned against wall to catch his breath while keeping vigilance of his surroundings, just then, several white flashes entered his body from the distance.
Earlier he had relentlessly attacked zombies while on his killing spree he didn't wait to confirm whether they were dead. The group of followers finished the ones that were still moving, the soul essence is then distributed according to ones contribution. Adrian dealt higher damage, therefore he gets a higher percentage.
He felt a familiar warmth flow in his body washing away the exhaustion. His stamina got refilled though he still felt mentally fatigued. He wanted to check his current status, but then a group of students and teachers arrived.
They all stopped about nine feet from Adrian, observing him from a distance. Adrian felt weirded by the gazes focused on him. For a second he thought that maybe there was something behind him therefore he turned his head to the back, but there was only a wall there.
He turned back to them, with a frown he asked in a deep voice " Is there a problem?"
Adrian didn't notice his voice had changed, that coupled with bloodshot eyes and the savage aura around him made him look intimidating.
"Aaah!..."
Adrian wanted to say something, but as he was about to open his mouth, from his right a group of four students came running towards him screaming and crying for help. Behind them, ten zombies staggered running after them.
Adrian frowned, he was afraid their screams would attract more zombies and other monsters if they continued. The group composed of three boys and one girl. The girl was actually the one screaming and crying loudly for help.
Adrian's figure turned into shadow, in a second he had moved past the group of four , he appeared in front of the leading zombie and his swing the sword severing it's head. Within less than ten seconds all the zombies were decapitated lying on the ground. Adrian slowly walked back to the group.
" Schoolmate, thank you for saving me. If it were not because of you, we would have..." The girl in the group of four came towards Adrian, her name was Sasha. She looked quite pitiful, with a face full of tears with messy clothes and a charming face. She opened her arms seemingly wanting to hug him, in her heart, she thought no man could resist a woman like her in this apocalyptic world.
Unfortunately, Adrian moved directly evading her, leaving her to hug the air in a daze.
" Very smart. You realized you can survive by taking refuge under someone powerful!... In the current world situation no powerful person will be willing to protect you no matter how pretty you look. You need to of value if you want to be protected. " Adrian's cold voice sounded.
Sasha stood still on the spot in a daze, it was as if her brain could not comprehend the meaning of Adrian's words in a short period of time.
Adrian looked around paying attention to the other students. He had figured they must have been following him while he was killing the monsters.
" You guys... Come over" He said to them while beckoning with the sword.
They all got scared seeing the sword pointed at them that they froze on the spot, not daring to move a single muscle.
One girl took a step forward and stopped in front of Adrian. Adrian noticed that her body was trembling.
" No need to be afraid..." Adrian tried to make her calm down by forcing a smile but failed completely, everyone seeing that smile shrank back in fear. Infact that smile made them even more afraid of him.
With a savage aura surrounding him and his bloodshot eyes made him look terrifying, add a smile to that, he now looked like a charming demon smiling at a bunch of sheep.
_Am I that scary? _ Adrian wondered seeing them shrunk their necks. He cleared his throat and turned to the girl.
" What's your name?" Adrian was actually impressed she had the courage to stand infront of him even though she was afraid of him.
"...S-senior...m-my name is A-Anna..."
"... So Anna... Why are you guys following me?..." He asked the girl.
" A-about that..." She really didn't know what to say. She couldn't tell him they sought protection after remembering what he said to the girl he saved earlier. If there was one thing she learnt was not to offend a powerful person now that the world had descended into chaos.
Adrian noticed her tensed expression and assured her.
" Don't worry...you can tell me."
" Um... c-can senior p-please lead us to the G-Hall?..." the G-HALL refered to the biggest building in campus. It composed of the cafeteria on one side, the gymnasium and the gathering hall which was almost the size of three football fields.
Anna faced the ground while clenching her fists, only she knew it took all her willpower to say those words, she knew she had taken a gamble.
A minute passed and Adrian didn't utter a word. Anna could feel his gaze fixed on her.
Adrian turned to other students and asked with a smile
" Are you sure that's what you want? "
