Emily looked at the creature reaching for Maria, and she flinched once she noticed humanised features.
A pair of pupilless eyes looked at Emily from a blank face, and the creature attacked quite fast. Emily knew she could not avoid that attack and protect Maria at the same time.
So, Emily decided to take that attack and save Maria's life.

The rift creature was shot before it disappeared into the rift smoke. Emily breathed a sigh of relief once she noticed this.
"What are you both doing? Do you want to die out here? These creatures are not humans, and they are not your friends. You need to kill them as soon as you notice them."
