Chapter 18 - Claiming The Dungeon (2)

"With the authority given to the Dungeon Sovereign, hereby I, Maverick Kalle, command this dungeon to reveal itself!"

Right after saying those words, the staff began glowing as it released a wave of silvery blue mana all around it.

The amount of mana was quite similar to the amount that the silver staff gave off when Gilgamesh gave it to him, but it still lacked quite a significant amount.

But still, it was an amount of mana that could make Kalle stop and freeze as he looked at the silver staff that he had just stabbed into the ground.

Before long, the scenery all around Kalle began to change as the silver-blue glow from the staff spread everywhere.

From what used to be a goblin village in the middle of the forest, turned to a completely dark room that seemingly expanded infinitely.

With the silver staff still stuck in the ground, Kalle found himself standing in the empty dark space, similar to the place where he met Gilgamesh.

But he wasn't alone.

In front of him, a glowing ball of light as big as a basketball just floated calmly, doing nothing other than simply existing.

However, it didn't take long for a change to happen as two smaller balls of light came out of the glowing basketball and started moving.

The two balls of light, the size of the monster cores, floated on the left and right sides of the huge glowing ball before completely stopping.

Then what used to be two bundles of light suddenly popped, giving a bright shine of light before the light began shaping itself.

The one on the left side shaped into the goblin warrior, while the one on the right transformed into the goblin mage.

Even though made up of bundles of light, the two goblins looked exactly like they were when he met them inside the dungeon.

Their skin was still green and they still held their weapons in their hands. The twin bone axes were in the goblin warrior's hands while the pentagram staff was in the goblin mage's hand.

The only difference Kalle noticed was the fact that the look in the two goblins' eyes looked different from when he fought them in the village.

Their eyes showed intelligence just like any other human being. And the feral vibe that they gave off was nowhere to be seen.

From that fact alone, Kalle released the tension he had on the staff as he let his guard down a little bit, knowing that the two goblins didn't want to fight him.

Kalle was wondering what he should do next when images started popping up inside his mind again.

Of course, it was the images sent by the silver staff.

After being shown those images, Kalle instantly knew what to do.

Although he still didn't know the meaning behind some of the words he was about to say, Kalle decided to just follow the staff's instructions.

Kalle grabbed the staff back to his hand before walking up to the two goblins, stopping when he was right in front of them.

He then began reciting the script the staff gave him.

"You have been imprisoned by the gods in this eternal prison. Forced to fight until not a single part of your soul remained.

I have the authority to set you free of this curse. You just need to trust me and accept me."

Kalle then raised his staff and sent his mana towards it, making the staff release the familiar silvery blue glow.

Kalle waited until the glow enveloped his whole body before he continued speaking,

[With the authority given to the Dungeon Sovereign, hereby I, Maverick Kalle, offer you to be a part of my strength. Through thick and thin, we will never be apart even over life and death. Will you accept?]

The goblin warrior nodded its head and let out a low screech.

The goblin mage also nodded its head, but it succeeded in muttering a word in human language albeit with difficulty, "Y…Ye…Yes…"

As soon as the two answered, the silvery blue glow from Kalle's body moved and covered the two goblins.

As if their instincts told them what to do, the two goblins simultaneously kneeled as the silvery blue glow enveloped them whole.

They accepted the silvery blue glow to enter their bodies and silver streaks began appearing on their bodies the moment they did so.

The two goblins didn't know what had happened to them, but as if being freed from an invisible shackle that tied them tight, their bodies became lighter and full of energy the more the silvery blue light entered their bodies.

Different from Goblin A, B, and C who seemingly had random silvery streaks on their bodies, the goblin warrior and the goblin mage each had similar-looking streaks.

But one glaring difference between the three goblins was the fact that there was an unknown rune, a symbol that was imprinted in front of the goblin mage and the goblin warrior's chest, right where their hearts should be.

When the silver streaks stopped forming on their bodies, the silvery blue glow receded from them and returned back to Kalle.

Right when the process was finished, Kalle felt the connection he felt with Goblin A and B disappear, and another connection appeared.

He felt connected with the two goblins that he had just made a contract with.

He knew the process was over and he now had two new contracted monsters that replaced the first two that he had made a contract with.

'Shouldn't I get a skill from contracting them…?'

Kalle was asking himself when he thought about this, but the staff still answered him.

'Congratulations on sealing a willing contract with your first creature. You will be able to use all the skills of a contracted creature that entered your contract willingly.'

As if knowing what Kalle would be asking next, the staff sent more images inside Kalle's head.

Looking at the list of skills, Kalle stared at them for a few seconds before the realization came to his mind.

'I can really use all this skill…?'

A short reply came from the staff, 'Yes.'

As if to check whether the staff was lying or not, Kalle threw the staff up high and activated the skill,

"Recall Weapon"

Then as if there was an invisible string connecting his hand with the silver staff, the staff halted in mid-air before being pulled back straight towards Kalle's hand.

Kalle then easily caught the staff back in his hand as he stared at the staff with eyes full of amazement.

With his curiosity still not satisfied, Kalle aimed the silver staff onto an empty space and spoke, "Fireball"

Then mana began gathering right in front of his staff before materializing a fireball that shot itself into the seemingly infinite dark space.

Kalle took a deep breath, his eyes glued to the silver staff that was seemingly a gift from god.

'This dungeon sovereign thing is really a cheat…'

Riding his wave of excitement, Kalle cast a few more fireballs and he was about to cast one of the curses before stopping.

'I don't want to feel that dark mana again anytime soon…'

With the dark mana becoming a cold water bucket that calmed his excitement down, Kalle stared at the large glowing ball of light in front of him.

Without waiting for his question, the staff sent the instructions on what Kalle had to do next.

After seeing the images playing in his hand, Kalle muttered, "Oh? That's way more simpler than before."

Holding the staff with his right hand, Kalle put his left hand on top of the glowing ball of light.

'So this thing is called a dungeon core…' Kalle thought to himself when his left hand touched the glowing ball of light.

He then made the silver staff emit the silvery blue glow once again and covered the dungeon core with it.

Seeing the glowing dungeon core had been fully enveloped by the silvery blue light, Kalle spoke with a voice filled with confidence and conviction,

"I announce this dungeon as mine!"
