Right after Kalle finished saying the words needed to make a forced contract, silvery blue light began to ooze out of the silver staff and covered the wounded goblin whole.
The light slowly seeped into the goblin and changes began to appear in the goblin.
Its destroyed shoulder that Kalle bashed in healed right away as the goblin now became fully healthy once again.
And not only that, silvery blue streaks began appearing on the goblin's green skin.
'To increase your strength, make contracts with the goblins! (1/3)'
The notification popped up in Kalle's head once again when he finished making the contract with the first goblin.
'From your newly contracted monster, you acquired the skill, Leap,' The mechanical voice said once.
Curious about what the skill would do, Kalle thought about activating the skill.
Right away, Kalle felt mana in his own body move in a certain way towards his feet.
He could feel his bones and muscles were filled with mana and an urge to jump appeared in his heart.
Following the urge, Kalle kicked his feet against the ground and jumped.
Kalle was quite athletic considering his job consisted of daily menial labor.
But he was in no way close to being capable of jumping several meters up in the air.
However, after activating the skill, Kalle found himself way up in the air, putting American football and basketball players to shame as he jumped several times higher than them.
His jump was so high that he went past the two remaining incapacitated goblins and went straight into the batch of remaining goblins that came from the portal.
'I still have two goblins remaining to make a contract with, it wouldn't be a problem to finish the rest of them.'
With that thought, Kalle then began targeting the remaining goblins that wandered around the portal one by one.
The second he landed, Kalle dashed forward with the silver staff in hand as he charged toward the remaining dozen goblins.
With his strength and his new ability, Kalle easily broke apart the goblins' wooden clubs and their skulls by just swinging his silver staff semi-randomly.
He didn't need to aim that much and everything was resolved through brute force.
When Kalle had killed about 5 of the goblins, Kalle saw the goblin that he had made a contract with and ran in his direction.
But instead of trying to hit him, the goblins with the silvery blue streaks on his skin charged toward the other goblins instead.
Kalle wondered whether his contracted goblin could stand against the other goblin.
However, when he saw his goblin, Kalle nodded his head in approval.
The second his goblin went close enough to the other goblins, the other goblins raised their weapons right away, not even hesitating when facing their own kin.
But Kalle's goblin didn't back down when faced with multiple enemies.
After getting into hitting range, the silvery blue streaks in Kalle's goblin light up a little as Kalle could feel mana from them seeping into the goblin's wooden club.
The result of the clash of the two sides was an overwhelming victory for Kalle's goblin.
Although Kalle's goblin couldn't shatter the other goblin's wooden club like what he did with the silver staff, the blow that his goblin could exert was strong enough to send the wooden club in the other goblin's hand flying away.
With its weapon gone, Kalle's goblin easily defeated the other goblin with a swift strike to its skull.
Remembering the mana that went from the silvery blue streaks to the goblin's club, a question popped up in Kalle's mind.
'Is it the goblins' skill?'
Then an unexpected answer came to his mind.
'Using the data from your newly contracted monster, Enchant Weapon is indeed a goblin's innate ability. If you want to acquire it, then you need to make more forced contracts with the goblin and gain its ability.'
Hearing the answer from what he assumed to be the silver staff, Kalle contemplated.
'Do I really have to get them from the goblins? Can't I do it on my own?'
With that thought, Kalle then dashed to his 8th goblin with his weapon ready to attack.
Kalle had an extremely high mana sense.
From using the skill leap earlier, he could feel how exactly his mana moved.
The source of mana in his body, how it seeped into his bones and muscles, and how it acted when Kalle jumped up high, he could feel all of them vividly.
So, when he was right in front of the eighth goblin, Kalle pulled mana from the source, which was in the middle of his stomach, and moved it towards his right hand.
He tried injecting his mana into the silver staff, but the feeling was completely different from moving mana in his own body so he failed to do it.
But still, his right hand was now completely filled with mana.
The moment he swung the silver stuff with enhanced strength in his hand toward the goblin in front of him, both the goblin's wooden club and the goblin's head broke apart almost simultaneously.
The strength carried in his blow was simply too much for the goblin and the wooden club to handle and both were decimated right away the second they made contact with Kalle's silver staff.
'So it is possible to manipulate my own mana without using skills…'
He might have failed to replicate the goblin's skill to enhance his weapon, but he got other useful knowledge instead.
And with that newfound knowledge, Kalle quickly finished his remaining enemies.
'But can I do this?'
Using the leap skill, Kalle filled his feet with mana.
But instead of jumping right away, Kalle pulled some of the mana from his feet and moved them towards his hand, weakening the enhancement on his feet but strengthening his hand.
Kalle didn't need to jump so high. He used the weakened leap skill to dash forward instead and arrived at his next target in a second.
The enhancement on his hand then quickly finished the job after he arrived and Kalle quickly activated the skill once again to jump to another goblin.
With him and his goblin working together, the dozen remaining goblins were soon no more and only two goblins were left alive.
They were the ones that he had incapacitated before so that he could finish the quest given by the staff.
With no more threats of goblins in sight, Kalle leisurely walked towards the two incapacitated goblins and forced them into another contract.
'To increase your strength, make contracts with the goblins! (3/3)'
'From your newly contracted monster, you acquired the skill, Enchant Weapon,'
'From your newly contracted monster, you acquired the skill, Fertile Seeds,'
'Congratulations on finishing your first quest! Inventory feature has been unlocked!'
Kalle nodded in satisfaction when he saw the first skill that he got from the second goblin, but a huge question mark appeared in his head when he saw the second skill he got from the third goblin.
'Fertile Seeds? What does that skill do?'
Once again, the staff came in clutch and started explaining,
'Fertile Seeds are the most common skill all goblins have.
As a race with only males, they needed to make every chance of meeting a female count.
Using fertile seeds, the chance of a female being-'
"I understand! You don't need to explain further!"
Remembering a certain animation in his head, Kalle quickly shook his head and stopped any curiosity towards the skill.
Kalle checked the inventory feature the staff told him and soon a game-like inventory space appeared in his head.
All the slots were empty except for the first slot which had a silvery-blue egg in it.
Kalle focused on the egg and details about it showed up.
'Gilgamesh's gift.
Note : Can be hatched inside the legacy dungeon.'
'What's a legacy dungeon?'
Kalle expected an answer from the staff, but he got none.
'Well, I can find out about it later. For now though…'
Kalle then looked at the swirling red portal in the middle of the crossroad.
Kalle decided to wait for the two goblins who were now completely healed and also had silver streaks on their bodies to get up before leading them toward the red portal.
"I still need to take care of this to keep Vella safe…"
Knowing that the chance of more and more goblins would spawn from the red portal if he didn't do anything to it, Kalle gritted his teeth and took a step forward inside the red portal.
The 3 goblins behind him then followed and the four of them soon disappeared inside the red swirling portal.
