Chapter 6 - Goblin Village

Finding himself in a completely new environment, Kalle took several moments to observe his surroundings.

First of all, Kalle found himself surrounded by trees.

Everywhere around him, his back, his sides, even the top of his head, everywhere he could see, there were trees everywhere.

Well, everywhere except for his front.

Behind several trees that became like a wall, Kalle could find a large grassy clearing.

And it wasn't any ordinary clearing.

In the middle of it, huts made out of tree branches could be found filling the clearing.

There weren't any walls surrounding them, but Kalle recognized the gathering of huts as a small village.

Why? Because of all the goblins that walked all around the huts and seemed to be busy doing something.

Most of them seemed to patrol around the village, holding wooden clubs in their hands and constantly circling around the village.

A few of them were inside the village, walking here and there. Doing something that Kalle didn't know of.

All this time, he stayed behind the trees on the edge of the clearing, trying to understand what had happened so far.

He had gone inside the red portal to close it for good and he now found himself right in front of a small goblin village.

He already had a clue about what he should do, but just to make sure, he asked the staff since Gilgamesh told him that it would tell him how to do it.

'Staff, how do I close this dungeon?'

'To close a dungeon, you need to defeat the dungeon boss, conquer the dungeon, and claim it for yourself.'

Defeating the boss was as straightforward as it gets.

Conquering the dungeon? Then Kalle would assume that he needed to defeat the whole village.

However, claiming the dungeon. He didn't know how to do it.

'I will tell you how to do it once you defeat the dungeon boss and conquer this dungeon,' the staff said after the question appeared in Kalle's mind.

'Alright then, I will defeat the boss first.'

Seeing the same goblins that he had easily defeated before, Kalle didn't even have a shred of hesitation as he walked out in the open, followed by his three contracted goblins.

Barging in from the front of the village, Kalle walked nonchalantly with his silver staff in hand.

"Let's do it, boys," he talked to the three goblins behind him.

As if understanding what their master said, the three goblins nodded their heads and raised their wooden clubs.

Kalle then looked to the front as he got closer to the goblin village.

"All of you! Come here and give me your heads!"

"It will be first come first serve!"

The goblins in the village soon noticed him when he shouted those words.

They didn't understand what Kalle had shouted, but they all collectively could feel the mocking tone that laced Kalle's voice.

Starting from the goblins that were on patrol on the outskirts to the goblins inside, they all began screeching and raising their wooden clubs before running in Kalle's direction.

Kalle had seen a group of goblins consisting of a dozen of them. And he had even defeated them with ease.

Although their numbers looked quite intimidating, their individually weak prowess posed no problems to him.

However, that would only be the case if the number wasn't big enough.

This time, instead of a dozen of them, dozens, maybe close to a hundred green-skinned monsters charged out from the village, all of them had one target in mind.

The collective target of the goblin village, Kalle, realized that he had just possibly, fucked himself up.

'Goddamnit.'

"Get back boys! We need to think of this more thoroughly!"

Kalle turned away 180 degrees and started running back towards the forest.

The three goblins who saw what their master did, soon followed after him and also used all their might to escape from the pursuit of 100 goblins.

Kalle quickly dived into the wall of the trees, hoping his pursuer would give up once they lost sight of him and go back to the village.

However, to his dismay, the 100 goblins didn't stop their chase and instead went with him into the woods.

Kalle was prepared to run away as far as he needed to discourage the goblins from continuing to chase him.

But his resolve was soon destroyed into pieces when he crashed against an invisible wall in the middle of the forest.

He tried hitting it with his hands, kicking it, and even using the silver staff to smash it, but none of it worked as the invisible wall was unbudged and kept him and his three minions locked inside.

He could hear the 100 goblins closing in on him and he was running out of space to run away.

He scanned his surroundings, trying to find something to save him from his current predicament.

As if a lightbulb appeared above his head, Kalle looked upward with his eyebrows raised and his mouth slightly open.

'I got a brilliant idea!'

The 100 goblins were getting closer and closer and they soon reached the invisible wall that Kalle had run himself into.

Different from Kalle who had run headfirst into it, the goblins seemed to know the invisible wall and stopped before they crashed into it.

They all looked around everywhere, trying to find the human that had dared to mock them so brazenly right in front of their own village.

However, no matter how hard they searched around them, they couldn't find him.

"Shhh! Don't make any sounds."

Kalle whispered very quietly to his three contracted goblins that hid together with him above the tree trunks.

Each of them occupied one branch, they all kept their mouths tightly shut and kept their body as still as possible to make sure they didn't make a single noise that could expose themselves.

He had climbed the nearest and biggest tree he could find before the 100 goblins arrived and he had successfully hid himself and his three goblins away from the goblin army.

Now, all four of them looked downward and saw how all 100 goblins began separating and scattering away as they all searched for him.

Kalle had planned to wait it out until the ruckus went down. But after seeing a group of 3 goblins under him, he had another idea in mind.

After looking around and making sure that no other goblin group around the area was close enough to the three goblins, Kalle executed his new improvised plan.

Activating his leap skill, Kalle held back the skill from activating as he jumped down from the tree, aiming straight toward the three goblins.

Pulling some of the mana from his feet to his right hand, Kalle smashed his silver staff straight onto a goblin's head.

With the goblins not knowing Kalle's whereabouts and only hearing a slight rustling from above, the goblins didn't even get to defend themselves as Kalle smashed one of their heads into pieces.

The two remaining goblins were caught off guard and they tried to fight back and raise their weapons.

But with Kalle's enhanced right hand, the silver staff smashed through their wooden clubs with ease and made quick work of the two remaining skulls.

Kalle's feet then didn't touch the ground for longer than a second as he finally released his leap skill and jumped back up to the tree, landing on the same branch that he had jumped from.

The sound of wooden clubs breaking was certainly heard by the other goblin groups, but with Kalle returning back on the top of the tree in almost an instant, not a single goblin could find anything other than three goblin corpses on the ground.

Kalle had successfully killed the three goblins in a few moments without any other goblins noticing.

Realizing the potential of the stunt he just pulled, his mind came up with something to get himself out of his current predicament and he started whispering to his three minions.
