It is a dark place, far from civilization, and a place that challenges people's psychological endurance.
Shire knows that illusion is one of the devil's most powerful powers.
Etienne told Charles about a demonological manuscript that analyzed how demonic powers work.
Demons can easily see other people's souls, and the soul carries consciousness, thoughts and psychological activities, so long as the devil has a little influence on the human soul, it can change the human cognition of specific things. Mistaking day for night, justice for evil, life for death... The human mind is so small and fragile that it seems to demons to be full of omissions and open to manipulation.
Once this false perception is corrected, the devil's tricks will disappear. Shire now saw the truth, and the false shape of the demon's remains quickly faded, replaced by Dalton, stained with blood, pale skin, long dead, and sickening flesh mutilated, split from the chest to the hip bone.
"So you see it." Dalton turned to look at Shire, and his lips pressed together stiffly.
'Who's talking? Frederick heard the dead man speak and got up warily.
'Danger! Shire, with a shudder all over him, jumped backwards, subconsciously wanting to run away.
Varun's eyes lit with the green fire of the devil.
"Flowing shadows." His form, a shadow, slid across the floor and appeared behind Frederic. He grabbed Frederic by the throat with one hand, took out the sword with the other, and stabbed Frederic in the back through the heart, the tip of the sword dripping with blood.
Char was stunned when he saw this. Master Frederic?
"It was a mistake." Warren pulled out his sword and kicked Frederic's slumped body to one side. "You're a real pain in the ass, by the way."
Char turned and fled, burrowing into the forest.
"You know I can easily catch up with you with a teleportation charm." Warren laughed.
"He looks scared." A dry, hoarse voice echoed through Warren's body. Is it the devil? Is that the devil speaking inside of Warren?
"He'll pee his pants." Warren laughed. "My God, the poor recruit!"
Char ran frantically through the dark forest, stepping on leaves and mud, it was too dark for him to see anything, and he could not see anything in front of him, under such conditions he could not run at all, but he had to run away, and the result was that he fell. Char stepped on a stone, the gravel slipped under his feet, he was confused, his body unbalanced, fell to the ground, his arm hit the ground hard, immediately began to bleed, the body touched the ground dull pain, burning pain.
Dammit -- dammit -- Shire scrambled to his feet, and after the sound of Warren's curse, a deeper shadow of the night moved across the ground and appeared to be close to Shire.
"Save your energy." Warren advised him, then drew his sword and struck the Shire.
Char clutched his sword, unable to see anything in the gloom, and Warren's sword flickered and dimmed. Where will it come from? Left or right?
There was a sound of wind in the air, and Warren's arm suddenly stiffened. A rope wrapped around his arm and held it firmly in place.
"You're not dead?" Warren looked sideways. "The devil left you four knives."
"When did you hide inside Varun?" Char heard a familiar voice.
Etienne looked ten years older than before, his white beard stained with dried blood, his eyes tired, his hair disheveled, and his hunter's cloak cut off in half.
"I'm half a demon, and now I just choose to work with my kind. Dalton is the only one of you who is right, so why won't you listen to him?" Warren shrugged.
"Come to me quickly." Etienne told him, "Be careful not to get hurt."
Shire, get away from Wallen! Heart pounding, demon! The Blade Demon is alive! It's in Varun's body!
"Oh - I see, you think you can master the situation, you think you are the elder of all hunters, so everything is easy." You don't speak because you know Frederic doesn't trust you. But why won't you go with the others? You have to go to Char? If you had followed from the beginning, you would have seen the clues."
Because of me? That's when everyone dies? Charles was distracted, because Maester Etienne had to stay behind to teach me, so he started a little late. If he had been determined from the start, Etienne would have been able to go straight to the devil hunt with the others, then...
"Fight, don't doubt yourself." Etienne held his sword and stared at the demon, "Think of nothing but defeating the demon."
There was a buzz from the direction of the camp as Valen raised his hand, and the fallen sword flew from a distance and then struck Etienne.
"Say good night to the old man."
Etienne frowned and struck the knife with all his might. The two weapons collided in the air with a startling noise, and the fallen blade was knocked to the ground. The evil weapon was silenced and its evil power dissipated.
"Bahumum. I don't think so." Warren looked displeased.
The knife flew out of Dalton's body, and the more Shire thought about it, the more he hated Dalton's dead body. This is how the devil desecrated the hunters' bodies, before hanging Julius upside down from a tree and killing Denver... He even killed Master Frederic... .
"Valen... I will kill you!" Shire gritted his teeth.
"Peace of mind." Etienne and Charles stood side by side, facing this dangerous forest, "always be cautious, humble, do not rush, do not fight for victory."
"In this case, is there any mind education apprentice?" Warren scoffed, "Shire, be smart and surrender. I told you, life comes first."
"Generation after generation of demon hunters, what do you know?" Etienne shouted in response, "Okay, stop trying to divide us, try to hurt our morale or hurt our confidence, demon, show up for a fair fight."
"As you wish." An ethereal voice sounded from inside Warren, his eyes darkened, his wide cloak wrapped around his body, without any external support, no wings on the back, but can walk in the air, all signs that he has accepted the evil forces.
Etienne spat and pointed his sword at Valen. "Nuin!"
The spell created a flash of sword light and fired at the demon Varun.
"Trying to use sharp weapons against me, that's what demon hunters have been taught." Valen sneered, his right hand wrung, Etienne's sword made a sharp sound as it landed, bent, rusted and blunted beyond use, and the shape of the spell changed from a sharp crescent to a disc-shaped scattering ripple, leaving only a few insignificant folds in Valen's cloak.
Etienne threw the rusty sword to the ground. "If Frederic had used it, you would have been shattered."
"Frederick Wei 'an! Frederick is strong! What a good Frederick! Frederick is dead! ' Warren laughed raucously, and the laughter made Shire feel sad, "The most threatening person among you is now a corpse... And you, you know nothing about sharpness."
He stretched out his hand and pointed, and the stone walls around the ruins made a harsh grinding sound, and the shape of the rocks changed dramatically, stretched and lengthened by strange forces, and turned into stone spikes like sharp ridges on the edge of a crown.
"Flee! Etienne! Run away like animals." Valen pointed to Etienne, and one of the thorns struck the old hunter so fast that Etienne heard the wind and tried to avoid it.
Seeing the old hunter look distressed, Valen smiled with satisfaction.
"And you." Warren looked at Charles. "Well..."
He found Char staring at him.
"Little Hunter, are you also --"
"Phantom powers!
Baaaah!
A tremendous force tore through the air, from top to bottom, toward the sky of Valen, smashing his body to the ground, armor against the earth, striking. Etienne turned to see the scene and was stunned.
"Char, you..."
"That's the spell Tiffany taught me today." Shire did not expect the spell to have such a powerful effect, he quickly took out the crossbow and loaded it.
"... Pity, pity..." Etienne's voice sounded very sorry.
Pity for what? Shire did not understand his meaning.
Valen's body stood up in a strange posture, as if some force had pulled him by the back and picked him up from the ground, in a rigid posture that did not seem to be his own action.
"It's disgusting." Warren's dark eyes gradually returned to clarity, and over his head, a tall black apparition gradually appeared.
"Exile from heaven!" Etienne would never miss this opportunity to cast a spell on the demon.
"Let me tell you straight, all these so-called spells you inherited are rubbish." The demonic image shows a ripple that doesn't seem to matter much.
It sped toward the campfire, and Shire saw in the distance that out of Frederick's body floated an amorphous soul that looked like it had suffered. The demon pointed at the soul, and the whole soul quickly collapsed, darkened, degraded, solidified, decayed into a demonic substance with reality, adhered to the demonic image, and formed a new demonic body. The Hunter master's soul was desecrated and became the demon's new body.
"I have work to do." The Blade Demon has fully recovered.
Etienne fell to the ground with a blade of light, leaving the mighty old hunter vulnerable to the true demon.
A great horror had descended upon Char, a true, powerful, and unmatched demon. All the hunting plans failed, and the hunters quickly lost their lives, killed one by one, and soon all would be buried in the twilight forest.
"Whew, leaving at last. The old hunter died in a moment." Warren stood where he was and pressed his temple, "Blade is a vicious, vicious fellow, hee, and now the silver key is my turn -"
Seizing the moment when Valen was least prepared, Charles raised his crossbow and quickly pulled the trigger, striking Valen in the face, between his eyeballs, piercing the bridge of his nose, and entering his brain.
He had wondered whether it was faster to chant a mantra than to fire a crossbow, and now he knew the answer.
