Chereads / The Blade of the Hunter / Chapter 15 - Demon insight

Chapter 15 - Demon insight

Shire will hand a gray knife turned over, the blade surface reflected a flare.

"Ow -" the river troll looked at the sword in Shire's hand and winced. "Then you go."

Shire kept a close eye on the river troll as he slowly made his way to the stone bridge. The troll was, frankly, a very powerful threat to him. It was much taller than Shire, two or three times larger than he was, a real monster.

As the Shire approached, the river trolls suddenly erupted.

It swung the stick with great force and, using the advantage of its long arm, swung far toward the Shire, streaking through the air and whistling loudly.

Shire quickly swung the knife, the stick hit the blade, the stick itself knocked a gap, but the incredible force of the river troll sent Shire nearly flying, he struggled to stay in shape, trying to grip the weapon, legs tight and steady, heart pounding.

"Your strength is weak! A shame to my sword!" Graddiu complained.

"Stop complaining. If you know how to fight, teach me." 'said Shire.

With a roar, the river troll moved furiously toward the Shire.

Am I too weak? The Shire met calmly. Demon hunters don't fight by strength alone.

"Phantom powers!

The Power spell summons the air, and the thrust emerges from the air, slamming into the river troll's face. As the impact hits the troll's face, it instinctively closes its eyes and shields its face with its hands, thwarting its charge. Char rushed forward, stabbed it in the stomach, turned quickly, and then pulled it out.

Shilla - Shire heard the sound of the blade cutting through the muscles and scales, and felt the pleasure of the blade in his hand unimpeded in his stomach.

The knife is so sharp that it cuts almost unimpeded.

The river troll was cut to pieces, full of blood, he howled violently, and at once opened his bloody mouth, vomited violently, and sprayed a huge gulp of disgusting, sticky acid at the Shire.

Shire was shocked, and quickly rolled on the ground in a panic, the acid splashed on the place where he stood before, and the blades of grass quickly burned and shriveled, making a hissing sound.

"I'll kill you!" The river troll got up in anger and continued to swing his stick at the Shire.

Shire gasped and set up a defensive position to meet the stick.

The force of this stick is heavy, is to smash the Shire with men and knives.

Baaaah! The stick and the blade collide in the air.

There was a sharp crack, and the river troll's entire stick broke in two with so much force that he stumbled forward a few steps, dripping acid saliva. Shire, on the other hand, was thrown to the ground by the force of the impact, clutching the knife, his arm painful, the troll spit on Shire's body, immediately began to burn the skin, painful.

'Die! Taking advantage of the troll's loss of balance, Char thrust the blade up into the river troll's ugly chin, cutting through its scales like butter into its mouth.

"Ow! The river troll swung his big hand to the ground and grasped the Shire's whole body.

Char felt a strong sense of weightlessness, and his body was no longer in his control. With a burst of force, the river troll grabbed Shire directly around the waist, hurled him into the distance, and threw him out like a ball.

Thump, Shire hit the ground, hit a few rolls, elbow, leg and foot on the ground rolled, leaving a fiery scratch.

"Whew... baaaah Whew..." Char struggled to get up.

The river troll still had the knife in his chin and was trembling as he groped to pull it out from under his head. The troll's eyes were bloodshot and most of its body was covered in blood. After a struggle, it let out a whoosh of blood from its mouth and collapsed.

"It's over." Char trudged toward the river troll, took hold of the knife, and pulled it out briskly, the whole blade stained with blood and acid, but no loss of hardness or texture.

Char looked down at the troll's enormous body, its eyes glazed, its mouth open, and pools of blood dripping from beneath it.

He raised the sword in his hand and felt a strong sense of confidence.

With this blade, I can do anything.

From the troll comes the soul, looming, flying into the Shire, and it's Graddius devouring the soul again. Char suspects that it is taking the opportunity to regain its strength; demons are monsters addicted to souls, and the more souls they eat, the more powerful they become.

"Now that's a good meal... It's delicious... It's rich... What a nice place... There are shells of souls everywhere..." Graddius made a joyful sound.

"Is there no soul in hell?" 'asked Shire.

"How can you think that demons are full of souls, and that fragments of souls from other worlds keep pouring into hell? Hell is a good place to kill and plunder each other."

"Then why don't you stay in hell and devour your kind? To invade our world."

"Because it's not fair... If we were allowed to fight each other without restriction, it would evolve into a winner-takes-all situation where only one of the most powerful demons would survive, and it would eat all the others. So you need rules."

"But you were banished for breaking the rules." Char touched the place on his body that was burned by acid, the skin was melted away a thin layer, but it was slowly recovering with the naked eye, which is also the effect of witch's potion? Those drugs seemed to change his constitution forever.

"I didn't think that much when I was hungry."

"You said you would die if you didn't have a soul to burn, and that's why you keep attacking Earth? That's why they plunder souls."

"Yes... The soul is the source of our strength, and the more powerful the demon, the more souls burn inside. That's why we try to find every opportunity to go into Earth and harvest, or to stay in hell and entice people to perform sacrifices for us..."

Char could not help thinking back to when he had been sold to a coven.

The witches had followed a terrible demon of hell, offering a dozen pitiful offerings in exchange for power, and the Shire was among them. Had Etienne not breached the marketplace and rescued Charles, he would have been living in the belly of some unknown demon.

"Yes, if you had not been saved by that old hunter, it would have been your fate to be absorbed and burned." The bigger the devil, the more voracious the appetite, and we will never stop, and if we are not strong enough, we will be crowded out by other demons."

"But don't you have 'rules' to stop killing each other? Even weak demons don't get killed."

"The lives of the lower demons are insignificant, but the demons fight each other, and each demon represents a concept... My enemy, the Metal Lord, has been trying to fuse me, because metal includes Blade, and if I am too weak, I cannot guarantee my independence. After I'm eaten by metal, I turn into a 'cutting' or 'cutting' demon, and the 'knife' part is fused away... It's a complicated process..."

"Can you eat any other demons?"

"A nasty story, I vaguely remember that Prince Blade and I were often at war, and we devoured each other many times, and he was a little weaker than I was, so in the end I completely defeated him and ate him." That's why we have to stay strong..."

"Then the number of demons should be less and less, and if one 'demon' demon appears among you, can't it eat all the others?" Shire was becoming more and more interested in demonic learning, and there was nothing more reliable than a demon telling the rules of hell from his own mouth.

"Demons are not eternal. Once a demon dies, it spits out all that it has swallowed before, and is reborn in hell into an infinite number of new, smaller, weaker demons." Graddiu explained, "... If I am destroyed, maybe there will be new demons born in hell, such as knives, swords, sharp blades, and swords, and then they will fight with each other, and finally form... Bah, why am I telling you so much? These are the entanglements between superior demons, and you third-rate hunters spend most of your time dealing with lower and middle order demons, and don't need to know. I tell you this because we share the same body."

"It's always good to know something."

"Demons like me are very powerful! Can easily destroy reason, take power! The power I once had was boundless!" Graddiu bragged.

"But you were overthrown and sent here by Kings. Who are these Kings?"

To Charles's surprise, this seemed to touch on a subject very sensitive to Claudius, and it quickly fell silent, and Charles could sense that Claudius was passive in Charles's soul, neither responding to Charles's psychology nor acting on it.

This feeling, as if Gladius had suddenly died or disappeared, felt strange to Charles.

Blade Demon doesn't want to talk about the Kings of hell? Shire thought. On the other hand, can be strong enough to rule the realm of demons, honored as the Kings of hell, such a demon god in the end how terrible power?

Now Char understood more clearly that the demons were strange, but they had one thing in common. If they came into this world, they did not travel in peace.

They're here to kill people, to devour souls...

If there were a demon with a large enough appetite and a terrible enough ambition, such as those demonic princes mentioned by Graddius, if they succeeded in coming to this world, how many countries would they have to eat, and tens of millions of people, before they would stop? No, the more they eat, the stronger the demons get, and if no one succeeds in stopping them, their ultimate goal is to wipe this place clean.

That is, to destroy the world, to end everything.

The word sounded far away, but Shire knew it could happen at any moment. In that place called Hell, demons live in a very different way from humans, constantly thinking about how to get their hands on this world.

Char walked down to the river, washed the troll blood and acid slime off his sword with the water, and stared down the bridge.

Under the bridge was the lair of the river trolls, and he saw a great mass of clay and thatch, piled up in a random sort of nest, in which the water whirled but could not carry its contents, and he saw that there were many things in the nest that were yellow and seemed very valuable.

Bridge toll

How many treasures would the river trolls have accumulated over the years, when they ran amok on this bridge undefeated until Charles killed them today? How many people pay it valuable things to cross the bridge safely?

An unprecedented treasure is in front of you! Shire has some expectations.

He untied the black cloak around his waist, put it on the shore with his knapsack, and went into the water naked.
