Chapter 37 - Chapter 37: Heavenly Music

  "Lenka? What happened?"

Edward was head over heels, but seeing that the elfin girl had created such a big scene, he had to step forward and strike up a conversation.

  "Huh? Mr. Kayne, hello again."

"Shouldn't you be resting at Leonardo's house?"

"Uh, I don't think it's a good idea to intrude more in their home when I've already rested over."

"Well, what's gotten into you with the Heretic Inquisition?"

Lenka pouted and said, "I was just walking down the street fine, and just because I wasn't wearing a hood, those vultures surrounded me and called me a heretic."

"The Elves believe in the Goddess of Nature, Tiana, and the Goddess Tiana is a heretic in the eyes of the Church." The bookstore owner said.

Generally speaking, when the elves came to human countries that believed in the Holy Cross religion, they would wear a hood to hide their identity or put on a cross or something like that, claiming that they had converted. That way, they wouldn't run into trouble.

But Lenka apparently didn't know any of this, except that when she left the clan told her to wear her hood, and she did.

After resting at the Countess's house, she forgot to put on her hood and stepped out, not expecting to run into the Heretic Inquisition guys.

"So you put out these vines?"

"Yes, they're out to get me, so of course I can't just fold my arms."

Lenka used Nature Magic [Growth Magic] to get rid of the Heresy Judgement's clerics, making giant vines grow out of the ground and blocking the street.

The bookstore owner nodded and said, "I hate the Heretic Inquisition guys too, and won't take their side, but the front door of my humble store was damaged by your vines, so please pay the price."

  "Huh?"

As they were talking, several other store owners came running out, demanding that Lianca compensate them for the damage the vines had caused to their stores.

"It's, I don't have any money right now." The elfin girl looked embarrassed, and suddenly, she locked her eyes on Edward.

"So, Mr. Kayne, can you lend me some money first?"

Edward was slightly helpless, the girl was clearly eating herself up.

However, looking at the pure and simple eyes of the elfin girl, and thinking that this stupid girl had no relatives in Constantine, and had even starved herself into shock, Edward really couldn't leave her alone.

He sighed and pulled out a large gold coin from his body and handed it to the bookstore owner, then said, "Your store has other store maintenance fees, please count them up and deduct them from this money, or put it on my account if it's not enough."

Since Edward was an old customer of the bookstore, the store owner took on the job. In fact, the damage to the stores was only a little bit of damage to the front door, and 200 Constantine gold coins should be more than enough to cover the repair costs.

By this time, the vultures of the Heretic Inquisition were already trying to destroy the wall of vines, shouting things like "Get the witch!

"Let's go, avoid these guys for now."

Edward took Lenka with him and left the shopping street.

Walking down the road, he asked, "What are you going to do now, leave Constantine?"

After thinking for a while, Lenka said, "Originally, I had eaten the butter muffin, and my sister's last wish had been considered fulfilled, so I was planning to go back to my hometown. However, the money Mr. Kayne lent me should be a considerable amount, right?"

"Well, it's not much to say."

It's not a bad thing to say less.

"Where I come from, there is no such metal currency, and I will have to stay here to earn enough money to pay you back."

Saying that, Rinka's face reddened a bit, "But I don't have any skills, so if I really can't do it, I can only... Part-time job..."

"It doesn't matter! You just pay it back slowly."

Edward's head was full of black lines when he heard that, he didn't want to force himself into prostitution.

"Actually, that magic you just did was pretty impressive, what kind of work did you do back home?"

  "Planting."

  "Uh..."

Edward surveyed Lenka, her hands were not the least bit calloused, the skin on her body was fine and smooth, not the slightest bit peasant womanish.

But it wasn't like she was lying when she had a sincere look on her face.

It seems that the elves are indeed a race that specializes in magic, even the little girl who farms knows powerful nature magic.

"Tell you what, you don't have a place to stay anyway, so I'll go ahead and bring you to the guild. You don't mind doing some chores or something, do you?"

"Well, as long as it makes money."

Edward thought that for the time being, he'd just have to have Lenka do some odd jobs or something like that.

The good thing was that the girl was very sweet and cute looking, and the group of single guys in the guild should be very happy.

After bringing Lenka to the guild, the girl passed the Sister's test with flying colors.

Even the Sister's wicked third question, "Would you like to touch Kayne's abs?" Lenkadu answered honestly, "I might want to touch them if I saw them, but Mr. Kayne looks skinny, so I don't think he has any, right?"

That got a laugh from the Sisters and the hunters guarding the gate, and Edward was more than a little embarrassed.

He was tempted to lift up his blouse and say, "Yes there is! And there's eight of them!"

But if they did, Lenka might be flung up by the Sisters to touch them.

After entering the guild, Edward told Chief Steward Hite about Lianca, and the Chief Steward quickly arranged a place for Lianca to stay. The guild was actually not short of handymen, but pretty girls were very scarce.

"Anyway, let's take a day off today and familiarize ourselves with the guild's environment."

Edward returned to his room after bringing Lianca to the chief steward. But everyone else in the guild ran to gather around after hearing that a beautiful elven girl had come.

  This also includes Evelyn.

Learning that the girl was brought back by Kayne caused her inexplicable stress.

And seeing with her own eyes that the elfin girl had big, beautiful eyes that were no less than her own made Evely stress out even more.

So much so that she completely overlooked that she had an overwhelming advantage on the other hand.

I'm afraid it's going to be hard for Lenka to shake her D position.

However, the innocent elven girl didn't care about such things, she was still a bit nervous about this strange environment.

  This tension lasted until dinner.

Faced with the bounty of food provided by the guild, the elfin girl fell.

After nightfall, Stigmata's Skin was gradually surrounded by silence. Most of the hunters had already gone to bed, but only Edward's room still had a light on.

At that moment, a clear and melodious song came out, and although it broke the original silence, the hunters were all moved by it, and even if some people woke up from their sleep because of it, no one complained.

The song was like a sob, soothing to the ear, almost like heavenly music.

Edward also put down the book he was holding and listened with his ears.

He realized at this moment that he had picked up a treasure girl.
