Chapter 24 - eating like a royal

"Please don't do this." She pleaded.

"I am trying not to, my sweet, but with you so close to me, I don't know how long will I be able to control myself." He was now hovering over her. Holding her captive as his eyes continued to roam around her beautiful face. "Then don't." Her words were a mere whisper and for the first time, he did what she wanted whereby she scrumbled her way out of the bed immediately he freed her.

"You should eat." She heard him say. He was still sitting on the bed and when she was about to leave the room, he added, "I said eat. I didn't tell you to leave."

For a second she did not understand what he meant and the minute she did, she saw him walking towards the table in which the food was placed. "Once you are done, take the plate to the kitchen." Saying that, he took the glass that was filled with blood and emptied it in his stomach.

Rose stood near the door as she watched him getting a maroon shirt from the closet and once he was done getting dressed, he started making his way towards the door whereby Rose stepped aside for him to leave. The moment he stepped out of the room, Rose whose stomach had been growling walked towards the table that was at the furthest corner of the room and took a seat. She would be lying if she said that she had not been internally drooling over the food that had been brought minutes ago.

She did not bother with all the Cutlery and instead chose to start by eating the green apple fruit which was juicy and crunchy followed by the soft bread that she had never had the pleasure of tasting.

Done with the delicious breakfast, she took the used utensils and headed to the kitchen. With her stomach full, she had started to regain her lost energy and as she walked through the corridors, she absentmindedly started to search for the king but she did not spot him anywhere.

"Rose, you are back." Stella who met her halfway through the corridors stated with relief while hugging her. "Thank God you are fine." Stella muttered as she withdrew from the hug. This was the second time that she was left worried sick about her. "What did lady Victoria want from you?" Stella asked as they started to make their way towards the kitchen. She had been told that lady Victoria had commanded her presence after they went out of the palace which was why she asked.

"That woman sent me to the cooler for some mistake I don't even know about." When the were near the kitchen, Stella stopped to say.

"She is nice to all of us. I wonder why she did that because no one makes out of that room alive." With that, both girls walked into the kitchen.

Of course the whispers about her having an affair with the king had not reduced and instead they had increased whereby some of the servants gave her a disgusting look but Stella nudged her to ignore them. Even though she had grown up in a poor background, she never allowed someone of the same status as her to step on her which was why she wanted to give those servants a piece of her mind.

"Did you manage to leave the letter at the delivery box?" She asked while placing the plate and glass that she had been holding on the kitchen table. "I did." Stella nodded and her words brought a smile on Rose's face. With every passing day, she continued to miss her family and now she was somehow relieved that they would get to know that she was safe.

"Stella, sir Lincoln is calling for you. He is at the loundry area." A boy said. His emerald green eyes looked tired and his blond hair was disheveled but that did not erase the fact that he was attractive but not as attractive as the king. Rose who found herself comparing the looks of the two internally scolded herself.

"So, you must be the new girl that everyone is talking about. My name is Brian." The boy introduced himself while giving out his hand for Rose to shake. "Roselyne." She stated while looking at the boy's hand as if she was contemplating on whether she would shake it to which she did.

She had not even uttered another word when she heard on of the maids say, "Her innocent looks can deceive you. She's now flirting with Brian."

"Don't mind them." Brian who also heard them said to Rose who pursed her lips. "I should get back to my work." Rose said without particularly knowing what she was supposed to do. Sparing her one more look, Brian walked out of the kitchen.

She always felt much better when Stella was around but with her out of the kitchen, she had the urge to leave.
