In one of the underground dungeons, the king sat on his heels while staring at this guest who had been tortured for days. "I'm here to listen. I didn't come to admire your ugly bruises." He said with a mirthless grin while tipping the man's chin with a dagger.
When the man didn't speak, Lucas ran his sword across his cheek causing him to give out a restrained groan. "You are not going to get anything from me." The man said while wiping off the blood on his cheek with the help of his fingers. The pain on his body was still sharp and persistent and with every single movement that he made, he could feel as if his skin was being torned away from his body.
"I really admire your loyalty to old Vicky." His words were tinted with mockery as he leaned closer to the man who was sitting on the rough floor while playing with the dagger. "Why do you act so oblivious when you know it all bastard... ahh!!" By the time he was done saying those words, Lucas had stabbed his foot effortlessly.
Lucas' mouth tilted upwards slightly at the corners only to give a bored smile. "What can I say, I like it when they fly higher so that their fall will result to their deaths. I will give you a chance that I don't give to many. You'll get to live so that I can get to know what that old bitch is planning." Saying that, he pulled out the dagger from his foot that caused the man to groan.
"And you think that that will make me bow down to you. I will tell you nothing, King Lucas." Though the pain was still there, the man tried to conceal it behind a smile that didn't quite reach his face. He looked tired and weak from all the tormentations but he was still trying to act strong.
"Then I guess you are of no use to me. I thought of sparing you, your wife and daughter but since you have already made your decision, who am I to force you into something that you don't want." His dagger that was bloody at the tip lengthened and in an unnatural speed, he got up and came to stand behind him.
"Okay!. I will do whatever you want, just don't hurt my family." His voice was shaky as he looked up over his shoulder at the king who was ready to stub him. "Time is ticking and you have said nothing of importance to me. Speak!" Though his words were calm and patient, the same couldn't be told about his actions. The tip of his blade was on the man's nape of the neck and with the room that was eerily quiet, Lucas could hear the thudding of his captive's heartbeat.
"She knows who your soulmate is and she will stop at nothing until she kills her. She probably has her right now." For the first time in years, Lucas felt fear creeping in his corrupt heart. It was fear of losing that one person that he truly cared for and the thought that someone would take her away from him brought an inexplicable pang that disappeared as quickly as it had appeared.
He had grown up killing and torturing people and he found satisfaction in doing so but when it came to Rose, that satisfaction skyrocketed and being close to her, all he wanted was to keep her safe, in his arms so that she could also feel the intensity of his feelings for her. Having a soulmate was something that came rarely. A gift that so many did not have a pleasure of having but everything had it's drawbacks. He had developed a weakness and anyone who knew about it would use it against him.
"She's waging war against you and she has support from the faes." The man added and just as he had finished saying that, Lucas walked out of the room. His footsteps barely made a sound and the man who was left in the dungeon lowly cursed, "Damn this royals." He was doing all these for money but right now, his life was hanging on a string that would snap any second.
Lucas walked on the dark stairs with his usual aloof expression as his hawk like eyes focused on the space ahead of him. All that was in his mind at that moment was how he had seen her in unconscious state the previous day and he could tell that death was looming more closely than before which caused his eyes to darken. Out of the small hidden pathway, he took a path that led to his sister's room.
"Come in brother." Lady Clara stated sarcastically as Lucas had already made his way inside the room. Locking the door, he went on to stand in front of the large window, his back facing Clara who was braiding her long black hair. "Planning to go out?" Lucas asked in a half curious tone and Lady Clara answered with a hum.
"It is time for us to have a family conversation Clara." With that, he turned around and walked to the other side of the room and took a seat on the two seaters plush chair.
