Anton looks uncomfortable, almost unbalanced on top of a stool. "You don't look like you're from around here?" says Edward.
Anton wearing his usual formal attire which is now completely dirty and torn says, " I suppose I wouldn't." "I'm actually from Cantmorune."
Edward is surprised to hear this as he is also from the city. After his initial shock he is quickly angered as he realizes that he is from a wealthy family. "So, what are you doing out all the way out here" Edward says with a bit of spite in his voice. Anton does not recognize the spite and answers in kind.
"Well…I don't love to tell this story, no one loves to be kicked out of their home by force." "I was trying to help a young woman out from being a slave…but as I'm sure you know; slavery is completely legal in Cantmourne." Edward is now listening with less hate hoping to hear a story of a momma's boy who spent too much money and got kicked out. "Because I tried to help her, she was killed…I started protest for slavery and was vocal as I could possibly, I don't think anyone should deserve that cruel fate."
The sentence resonated with edward as he remembered is mother and how he felt. "Because of my actions, my family disowned me and banished me from the city. Ever since I have been looking for a place to call home.
"Sometimes life is like that…but it doesn't half to be I'll make it so." Edward said somewhat under his breath. Anton couldn't quite hear what edward said but before he could ask a young lady came by and asked what they wanted to drink, "Two beers" said edward now looking at anton. "Oh of course" Anton gave the lady change and she left to get the drinks.
"So, why did you leave Cantmourne?" Anton asked. "I just don't have anything left for me there." Edward spoke his words with disdain and hate behind them, enough so Anton noticed. "I'm sorry. How about names, I'm Anton Bakir." Anton gave his hand to Edward for a handshake who looked at Anton and paused. "Edward…Edward Nil." The lady comes back with their drinks " "Do you want anything else sir?"
Before Edward can answer, Anton reaches his hand toward the lady in an effort to show Edward how to shake hands thinking he doesn't know. "Hi, I'm Anton!" The young lady is surprised but shakes his hand, "I'm Selene nice to meet you sir." Selene confused asks again "Do you gentlemen need anything else?" Edward says, "Do you know where the next town is?"
Selene says, "Yes, if you follow the trail, you should find the next town." Anton orders another round of drinks. "So?" anton says, "Where are you going?" Edward says, "I'm not sure, I'm looking for a place that's better than here, and better than Cantmourne." Anton ponders this, "and what if you can't find this place?"
Edward takes a long pause as Selene comes back with the drinks. "I'll make it, I want to make a place where no-one has to worry, a place where every person there is free from the tyranny of other places." Anton is taken aback by this. He hasn't heard the term tyranny used to many times, he hadn't thought that people would consider the way Cantmourne, or other towns were run as tyranny. "That's a good idea..." anton said thinking about some of the things his family had done, wondering if they were actions for the city or for their own gain.
While edward and anton were lost in thought Selene spoke without really thinking, "I don't know if a place like that exists…but if It did, I'd want to go there." Suddenly both anton and edward were looking at Selene. "I'm sorry! It wasn't my place to speak." Selene moved to take the empty mugs when edward spoke, "It's alright, I was wondering if it was -+even a real idea, if people would like the idea." Anton spoke. " I for one think it is a marvelous Idea." "Do you always talk like that?" Said edward through a half-baked smile, Selene laughed as anton asked confused "Like what" "Don't worry about it" Edward said chuckling.
"Anyways" anton began, "Running a city is difficult, I was learning and helped my family a little with it in Cantmourne." "I would never be able to do it alone, you must know a large amount about it!"
Edward hadn't considered yet that he had no idea how to run a city. "Um…Is there a lot that one needs to know about running a city?" Selene comes back with another round in time to hear this and looks with astonishment at edward. "You don't know anything about running a city?" Anton says dumbfounded. "No…" Edward says timidly.
"You can't just make a city from scratch and expect to make everything to go off without a hitch if you don't even know how to run it." Anton spoke almost insulted. "Well…We didn't all get to have some fancy upbringing and go to school." Then edward had an idea, "he you thought the city was a good idea, right?" Edward asks eager with a follow up. "Yes, I think it's a great idea. Why?" anton asked with caution.
"Well, why don't you help me make it !?" Anton was completely shocked to hear the question. "What I couldn't, I haven't done and type of things like that extensive I barely helped with Cantmourne. I can't run a city; I might just make things worse!"
"Anton, I'm gonna need help. You know how to do it; I'll be in the public eye, so you don't have to worry about people hating you. Will you help me?" Anton paused and thought about what Edward asked. "Alright, I'll help, I think this place you talk about would be a really good place." Selene Said, "If you don't mind…I would like to come as well." Edward and Anton looked at Selene and agreed.
The party drank into the night, save for Selene who was still working.
