Edward woke up in the morning to his companions already downstairs in conversation with the young man.
"Hey, what'd I miss?" Edward said shaking off his groggy slumber.
"Our dear Innkeeper here, is named Arnulf Pesti. He has been giving us information on the going on of the town and sorts." Anton said.
"Nice to meet you, I'm edward."
"A pleasure " said Arnulf.
Edward sat down at the table with the others. "Here." Said selene giving edward a plate of eggs and toast.
"Thanks, so what is the deal with this place?" said edward who began eating.
"Well, the reason no one comes here, is because most are always working in the mines and there aren't really any people who want to stay here. The mayor of the city has been taxing the people harshly, so much that if they don't work as much as they can. Then some can't afford food for their families."
Edward paused and thought for a moment. "it's the same everywhere isn't it…" "All this suffering and pain, for what, greed." Edward said, disgusted.
"Places like this is why I wanted to create my own way. My own place in the world where people can come from where, anyone experiencing hardships can come and be free from tyranny… Maybe it just isn't possible." Edward sat back in his chair, resigned, and lost in thought.
Anton spoke, " What about inspiring the people here to revolt?" Edward shot anton a skeptical look. "That would never work." He spoke.
"Why not, these people obviously hate it here, all they need is something to get them together, they need to know that they are all in it together and that they all want things to change. After that they will only need a catalyst, a spark if you will." Said anton a little excited.
Edward pondered over the thought…"but how do we do this?"
"Well first you need to really be a man of the people. You need to become one of them and live their lives, endure their hardships as your own. Or at least show that you have a real true understanding of their suffering." Anton spoke in a matter-of-fact way, Edward thought that if he was going to do this then he was glad to have anton to help him.
The following days and weeks began to blend together as Edward and Anton worked on engraining themselves into the towns people.
Edward was out those who were working and going to bars to speak with the people of the town, telling stories of how his life was always suffering before he decided to leave.
In a bar in the middle of the night a man tells a story, the story of his life. "Once I had finally gotten back home… I learned that I had been not only robbed of my pay that I'd earned, but also of my mother.
For some time, I blamed my circumstances but as time went on, my anger shifted, to those who allowed this type of society to continue to exist. So, I have dedicated my time to stopping other tyrants from doing the same and creating such terrible hardships for their people. I want to make a place for all." Edward pauses after he finishes his story and gauges the reaction.
"I reckon that you'd make a good place. The old man finished speaking and the others sitting at the table agreed. The rest of the night fell into a night of drinking and camaraderie.
It seemed that Edward was a respected member of the town.
