Chapter 8 - The fight

The classes were as boring as the ones on Earth. They were given a couple of books from a few classes to read and practice magic after being taught the basic principles of magic.

Levi and Eliot stuck together throughout all the classes but they were going to be separated soon. As the students began to learn magic, some would begin to show extraordinary talent and strength.

Those were going to be favored over others. Levi wasn't the type to lead. Not only did magic require mental strength--it also required physical strength.

The better your physique the better your body could handle the energy that came with doing magic.

Augustine Scar, the physical activity professor could already tell the students that would become masters of the craft and he could tell the ones that would fail.

"I can already tell that this class will be tough. " Levi grumbled when he saw what the class looked like.

An entire class of forty students was gathered in the physical activity room. It was more of a gym but it had a boxing arena.

There was equipment everywhere for bodybuilding and increasing strength. It was what every gym bro hoped to find in their gym.

"Welcome. This is the room I would like you to spend most of your free time trying to build yourself so that magic does not destroy you from the inside out. "

The professor standing in front of them had muscles and looked intimidating. When he asked everyone to get to work, the students scurried away and grabbed any equipment they could see.

As Levi was figuring out how he was going to lift those weights, a system notification appeared.

[You have 8 hrs 49 mins 16 secs to win a fight against Dickie. The clock is ticking]

"Fuck! " Levi muttered under his breath. His eyes immediately went to Dickie who was showing off his muscles.

Dickie chose that exact moment to look behind and spot Levi. He stopped what he was doing and walked towards his victim. Eliot wouldn't be able to defend the fellow here.

"Wanna fight? " Dickie asked but Levi understood it wasn't really a question but a command. Dickie had already started walking towards the boxing ring.

Levi put down the weights and followed Dickie. He could have refused but that would only add to his embarrassment. He had a task to complete. Maybe he would get lucky and beat Dickie. The two wore boxing gloves and climbed in. They stood on opposite sides of the ring waiting for the referee to blow the whistle.

"Are you ready to get beaten?" Dickie asked and spit in Levi's direction.

Dickie threw punches in the air and urged Levi to charge first. Wanting to get the fight over and done with, Levi charged.

Dickie ducked and pushed Levi to the ground from behind him. Before Levi could get up, Dickie was on top of him relentlessly punching his face and stomach.

The referee stopped the assault by pulling Dickie off of Levi. Levi coughed up blood as he struggled to get up and finish the fight.

Despite not seeing properly, he was also losing balance. He could barely stand without stumbling a little bit.

"Come fight me, you pussy! Can't do it, huh? You are nothing but a weak bum who deserves to die. "

Levi growled and charged for Dickie before he had the chance to prepare for it. He was tackled to the ground where he was beaten by Levi.

Dickie threw stray punches that hit Levi but Levi didn't stop the assault. It was like his anger had taken over and the adrenaline rush was guiding him.

System notifications of lowered stats flashed in front of him but he didn't read any of them. He was too concerned with beating his opponent.

He knew exactly where to punch to do real damage. Dickie wasn't able to block any of these attacks because he was more concerned with incapacitating Levi.

Two more punches from Levi and Dickie tapped out. For a small guy, Levi was strong.

He stood up from the ground and tried to steady himself. He felt like collapsing but he held on to the last of his strength.

The referee took his arm and raised it in the air to show everyone that he was a winner. For the first time in a long time, Levi smiled.

[Congratulations! You have earned +20 exp, +5 regeneration, and +5 chance to increase any of your stats. Which do you want to increase?]

"Strength. "

[Congratulations! +5 added to strength. ]

"System interface, " Levi said and his stats appeared before him.

Levi frowned at his stats. They had lowered more than he thought. He needed to find a way to raise them somehow.

He would be beaten to a pulp if Dickie chose to go after him for revenge. The fight had really taken a lot of effort.

It went to show how weak he was. As he was leaving the ring, he saw that his wrist tattoo was glowing red.

He clutched it to hide it from other people. It explained why he had won. Maybe there was a power that came with the tattoo that aided him.

"Did you really beat Dickie in a fight? " Eliot asked as he pulled his friend in a corner.

"Yes," Levi said a little more enthusiastically than Eliot liked.

"If he had a target on your head then it had just gotten larger. "

"What did you want me to do? Let him beat me to death? Look at me. These bruises will take weeks to heal."

But they had already started healing by themselves. Without Levi knowing, his own body was nursing him back to life.

Levi walked away from Eliot and went back to where his weights lay untouched. On his way there, a system notification appeared.

[-3 Regeneration used to heal your wounds. Now you have been fully nursed back to normal health]

[Regeneration: 3/10]

"Fuck! How am I going to explain my body healing in minutes? "

It was no secret that Eliot was a very curious person. He looked like the type to dive into Levi's business to try and figure out what he was planning.
