Chapter 26 - Mother of Demons

"Who was that? "Levi asked as soon as the angelic voice was gone and his trance was broken. He looked around looking for the woman who had spoken before but there was no one around.

[Mother of demons and she is coming for you]

"But…why? "

[You're a demon. I warned you not to give in to her voice but you did so she has a location]

"You should have used the resistance to help me! " He was yelling at the system because he was angry. His tattoo was glowing brightly and he felt like he wanted to hit something.

Had the system been physical, he would have already hit it.

[You are a demon. Your powers don't work on her. She will own you now that she has your location. I have warned you.]

[Instead of blaming the system you could evaluate your obsession with girls]

His nostrils were flaring and he was having a hard time controlling himself. He wanted to punch something or scream. There was no way things were going sideways in every turn he took.

"What does she even want from me?"

The system neglected to answer. It was boycotting Levi yelling at it for his stupid mistake. It had warned Levi not to give in to the voice. If he hadn't been so obsessed with girls, maybe he would have been able to resist it.

"Are you okay? " A girl asked from behind Levi. When he turned towards her, he felt his anger disappearing.

She was a very beautiful girl. She had long braided hair that was a mixture of metallic blue, gray, and pink. She was much shorter than Levi and she had the deepest blue eyes he had ever seen.

She had curves in all the right places and she was shy.

"I'm sorry for intruding in your personal time. You looked agitated and angry so I thought I might check if you were okay. "

Levi didn't hear what she was saying. He was busy ogling her from head to toe. When she saw that her questions were not being answered, she stepped away from Levi and walked away.

He wanted to call her back so he could talk to her but his words wouldn't come out of his mouth. He stared at the sway of her hips when she walked. He couldn't help but wonder what those long slender legs would look wrapped around his waist.

"Jesus! " He exclaimed. He had let her get away because he was too busy ogling her. Since she was wearing a black uniform, he knew she was a 1st year student.

He groaned when he registered the obsession he had with women. Maybe the system had been right and he needed to lay off girls for a while. Maybe if the Mother of Demons had appeared weeks ago when he had no girls giving him attention.

The more he thought about it, the more he realized that it was because of a girl that he had landed himself in so much trouble. It was a good idea to stay away from them. They were nothing but trouble.

He went back to his room and relaxed there wondering what he was going to do about the mother of demons. She was powerful and his powers didn't work on her. If only there were reading supplements he could look for to tell him more about her.

There was a library! He got up from his bed quickly and wore his shoes to go to the library to do some reading. As soon as he opened his door, he realized he didn't know where the library was.

"Where are you going? " Eliot asked as he came out of his own room. He was just coming to talk to Levi.

"The library. Do you know where that is? "

Eliot nodded his head and started walking. Levi followed behind him with his hands in his pockets. What were they even going to talk about? They hadn't been friends for two weeks straight.

"So…"

"I'm sorry for everything I've done, man. I wanted to fit in and be part of this world when instead I was only trying to be someone else. "

Levi wondered what brought on the change but he was happy that his friend had finally come to his senses about those fake friends of his.

He didn't tell Levi but he had discovered that his four friends were told by Roman to deliver Levi at double the price he was offering for the bounty. He had been so disgusted with their behavior that he hadn't even confronted them.

"It's okay. "

"What are you going to the library to do anyway? "

Levi wondered what he was going to say. If he said he was researching demons, then that would raise suspicion. The only thing he could do was lie.

"They want me to learn magic in two weeks or I'm out. Warren personally told me he was going to ship me to manual labor. "

"What?! " Eliot asked and halted. This was big news. "You have to start taking the red pill. Imagine the working conditions in that place."

"No way!"

"This is not the time to be stubborn! You either take the pill or become a slave. That sounds like an easy choice to me. Come on. "
