"Let's not talk about this now. I want this to be a last resort. If I can't find anything to help me then I will resort to taking the pill. " Levi lied to end the argument.
If only Eliot knew the truth. Levi's body couldn't even digest the pill. Whenever he swallowed it, it was spit right back out.
The two walked to the library in silence. Eliot had a lot he wanted to say but reserved it for when they lacked a solution in the library. He knew they weren't going to find anywhere in there.
There was no way the school would allow students to discover how to perform magic without the pill. Even though none of the students knew they were taking the pill in the first place.
They entered the library and stared at the many floors that each had isles containing books. There had to be like a million books in there. How were they going to find the ones they wanted?
It felt as though Levi had given up when he had just arrived. There was no way he would find a book on demons without asking around and looking suspicious to Eliot. He wanted to go back to his dorm and sulk but he was with Eliot.
If he said he was giving up, Eliot would start bringing up the conversation about the red pill. A conversation he was not prepared to have.
"How about we ask at the reception where we can find books on magic? " Eliot asked.
Not only did he not want to be there. He was also forced to look for books he did not want or require. He needed to find a way to shake off Levi somehow.
The lady at the reception gave them directions. She said the books they were looking for were on the first two floors. At least Levi knew where not to look. But that wasn't beneficial at all.
There were like ten other floors. Levi knew they were even more than that. You had to crane your neck to look at the books at the very top because they were like a tower.
"We should go to that floor. It should be no problem finding the books we want. I take back my words. It seems like there is hope after all. With this many books, they can't monitor what is inside all of them. "
They walked to the elevator as Eliot went on and on about books. Levi wasn't even listening to him. He was busy trying to figure out a way in which he would get rid of his friend. Maybe lying hadn't been such a good idea.
He should have just said that was fascinated with demons and he wanted to research them. A part of him also hated that Eliot was ready to help with his problems.
He wanted to deal with those on his own.
"Are you even listening to me? You look stressed. "
"I am listening to you and I am stressed. I just want to figure out what to do. "
They got off the first floor like Eliot had suggested. Just as they were walking to the rows of books, Levi bumped into someone and they dropped all their books.
"I'm sorry. I should have looked where I was going. " Levi said as he helped the girl pick up her books. One book in particular caught his attention.
"No, it's my fault, " she said.
Levi knew that voice. How could he forget? It was the girl who had seen him earlier when he was in an angry state. His cheeks tinted pink in embarrassment because of how he had handled the situation.
"It is you."
"You mean the girl you ignored earlier. Yes. That would be me. "
Levi laughed nervously thinking of an excuse as to why he hadn't spoken to her. Since lying was getting him in a lot of trouble of late, he decided to tell the truth for a change.
"It is not every day that a gorgeous girl stops and talks to you. I apologize for the meeting earlier and for now. My name is Levi and you? "
"Kylie. Nice to meet you. Although I have seen you before. You are famous for your whole disagreement with Roman. "
"I hope that doesn't take away any points. "
Kylie responded by giggling and blushing.
Eliot rolled his eyes at their interaction and left to go look for those books they had gone to find. If this was going to be the new normal every time he hung out with Levi, then he was going to reconsider.
Being ditched every time your friend talked to a girl was not fun at all. Especially if no girls were talking to you.
Levi looked at the book in Kylie's hand and thanked the heavens for dropping the answers on his lap. What were the odds that a pretty girl carried the very book you wanted from a library full of a million books?
"I happen to be interested in a book you're holding. Would you mind if I took a look at it? " Levi asked as he pointed to the big black book she was holding that had many symbols on it and the word 'demon' in caps.
Kylie took it from her bunch and gave it to him.
"Have you read it?" Levi asked as he perused the pages.
"No, but I have read others like it. I love reading all about supernatural creatures. Some of them are fictitious and others are real. They fascinate me a lot. Especially vampires, demons, werewolves, dragons, etc. "
Levi wanted to hear more about demons. He had a limited amount of time left to read all the books on demons. For all he knew, the mother of demons had arrived and was going to take him with her any time soon.
He needed someone who had all the knowledge he could use. She was perfect for the task. If he got her talking, she would ramble and spill all she knew.
He handed the book back to Kylie and smiled.
"It would be rude if I didn't walk you downstairs. Let me inform my friend and we can be on our way. Is that okay? "
Kylie nodded her head and watched Levi go and talk to Eliot. She couldn't wait to spend time with the famous Levi Jackson.
