Chapter 30 - No deal!

Levi was determined not to go down without a fight. He had fought to acquire those teeth and he wasn't going to give them away for free.

"I risked my life to get those teeth and you want them for free? Just be fucking fair. "

He hoped to get through to her. When he first saw her, he didn't peg her as the kind to steal from those she thought were weaker than her.

"Life isn't fair. Give me the canines. I have a professor Crystal on speed dial. You wouldn't believe the stories she has been telling me about the monsters they keep locked in their dungeon. "

Levi started panicking. There was no way she knew what happened to the monsters if she didn't know Professor Crystal.

[The canines are still in storage. Don't be stupid. Is your brain even working? If it's still alive then use it to leave here with money]

Levi was quick to anger. He clenched his fists at his sides. He didn't like the system insulting him and it wasn't like it was a person he could punch.

As much as he hated to admit it, the system was right. What he needed to do was be smart about the situation. She hadn't seen the canines yet so how could she be sure that he even had them?

Even if she called Crystal, there was no proof that he had canines.

"Call her. Tell her about the canines I have. "

The girl behind the counter raised her eyebrows at the boy wondering what he was getting at.

"I'm not bluffing–"

"Neither am I. Where are those canines that you want to report me for? Have you seen them? Call her and all I will say is that it was a trick I was playing on you because I had nothing better to do. "

The girl gritted her teeth and closed her eyes to calm down. She hated being outwitted by people who didn't look smart.

"Where are the teeth? "

"How much am I getting for them? "

"Ten gold coins. "

"Thirty! "

"You have to be kidding me. Those teeth are not even worth that much! Not to mention you don't even have them here."

"I want twice the amount they are worth because of all your threats. You have bad customer service and even worse hospitality. "

The girl laughed at the absurdity of the guy in front of her. She was not going to give him that much. She was not even going to give him the money they were worth.

"Eleven. "

"Thirty. If you won't give me that money then tell me now so that I can take my business elsewhere, " Levi demanded. He was too tired to go back and forth with her about the amount she was going to give him.

It was his teeth and he was going to decide how much they were worth. Not her.

He didn't see a reason for her not to give him the money he wanted. She was going to sell the teeth at a much higher price than thirty coins. Either way, she was going to make a profit.

He only wanted a portion of that profit.

The girl weighed her options. Those teeth were rare to find because that kind of panther was about to go extinct. There was a customer who had already offered to pay a lot of money for one of those teeth if she found them.

It would be beneficial for her if she gave the boy a small amount and sent him on his way. Thirty gold coins were not even three percent of the amount people were offering for the canines.

"Fine, I'll give you the money. Now tell me where the teeth are. "

"No. I will give you those teeth when I have the money in my hands. "

"But you're not carrying the canines with you. They're too large to fit in your pockets. "

"Give me the money and I will produce them. I have no reason to lie to you. You have something I want. "

She relented and took out thirty gold coins from the counter and handed them to Levi. She was confident he wasn't going to run. He would risk going to jail because she already knew where he went to school.

"These are only thirty gold coins. "

"Yes. Isn't that what we agreed on? "

Levi shook his head and gave her back the money. He knew she was desperate for what he had to sell so the stakes were now high. Her desperation was showing in her features.

"No. I have two canines. The thirty gold coins were for one of those teeth. "

The girl remained quiet as she weighed her options. She really wanted those teeth and by the looks of it, he was the only one who had them.

"Fine. "

She took out sixty gold coins, put them in a tiny bag, and gave them to Levi. He counted to make sure all the money was there before turning around.

She waited to see where he was going to get them from but he showed her his back.

"Give me the canines in the storage, " Levi whispered so that the girl wouldn't hear him.

When the canines appeared in his hands, he turned around and gave them to the girl behind the counter. Her eyes sparkled when she touched them.

She had mistaken Levi for a weak student who wasn't smart enough to sell anything. After their exchange, she knew better.

"You did have them. "

Levi turned around and started leaving.

[That wasn't hard, now was it? What would you do without me?]

"Nice doing business with you. I look forward to trading with you again. That is if you do not call Crystal as soon as I leave. "

"Wait! " She called before Levi could leave. He halted and turned a little to look at her.

"My name is Takana. What is yours?"

"Havoc. "

He opened the door and left. As soon as he was out, he smiled widely and looked around for Eliot. He spotted him leaning on a wall across the street. He ran towards him, unable to hide his excitement.

"What took you so long? " Eliot asked.

"She wanted to rip me off. "

"Did she buy what you were selling? "

"Yes, for a lot of money. "

"What were you selling anyway? "

"Something very valuable. Come on, let's go play some games. The bill is on me. "

Eliot smiled and followed his friend. He was curious about what Levi had sold but he decided not to ask because he wasn't going to get an answer.

He would just add that to the list of secrets Levi kept. He had a feeling that he didn't want to know Levi's secrets. From experience, he had learned Levi's secrets were nothing but trouble.

The last thing he wanted was problems. What he didn't know, however, was that he was a part of Levi's problems by association. He was going to learn that the hard way.
