Chapter 157 - Fighting in the sea (3)

'Ugh...'

Shaking my head, I quickly sobered up when the salt water sprayed onto my newly opened wounds.

"Baargh!"

Bubbles exiting my mouth as I screamed at the sudden spike of pain which infiltrated my nervous systems I quickly froze my surroundings and focused malaise right back into my eyes and assessed my situation.

'Whatever that guy's job is, he just slapped me back into the sea so he's moderately strong.'

'Guardians are still assaulting me like crazy.'

Balancing myself on the frozen surface of the rough sphere I just created, I turned myself so that I wasn't hanging upside down underneath the water.

'Bigger more strong guardian just unleashed a curse onto me somehow so that's a problem.'

Feeling the subtle stiffness restraining my movements and making it all around harder to attack the monsters looking at me through the ice sphere.

I grabbed the item I had just crafted and hurriedly looked over its stats.

And I must say, I really like what I'm seeing.

Grinning subtly, I equipped the Frozen Flame Amulet and brought out the good old blood sword.

Red soon spreading itself in the water and making itself significantly more brown looking, I activated the power of the Frozen Flame and watched it do its magic.

'Grrr...' Growling and gritting his teeth, Gunpowder Gary angrily jumped into the sea from the brand new hole in the ship that was roughly human sized.

And watching it all happen with tired eyes was the first mate.

Pot bellied man letting out a sigh, he turned to look at the cannon where the man who suddenly barged into the ship had dented right before being sent straight back into the sea.

Running his hands over the metal cannon that had been deformed so badly that it was no better than scrap metal, the First Mate shook his head as he kicked the broken booze bottle into the swirling currents.

"One day captain, your love for booze will be the death of us all."

Sniffling upon smelling the rancid scent of cheap booze on the verge of spoiling tickling his senses the first mate grimaced.

"I really don't know how you endure it cap."

Looking behind him the First Mate cleared his throat once he realized that a variety of eyes were staring at him in the middle deck.

"What are you looking at you Lillies!" Snapping at the crew members who were just standing there, he shouted.

"Y'ere Captain has jumped ship to bite the damned fishes attacking us! Are ye just going to stay here where he can't see his crew fight!?"

Unsheathing a short sword that had been curved into the shape of a crescent moon, the crew members who were nothing short of battle hungry sharks howled out as they started surging towards the hole in the ship.

Diving into the sea with outstretched hands, sea worn faces eyed the surging sea beneath them as the elite crew made out of people the captain could trust with his life rushed out like sharks that had smelt blood.

And honestly? It wasn't so far from the truth.

Because in the seas where making a name for oneself in a place where people were separated by leagues of sea water was as hard as learning a new trade to a masters standard.

The name of the Bloody Sharks led by Gunpowder Garry had made itself a name.

And soon the Guardians guarding the ocean monument would learn why that despite beings human beings who were land based animals could proudly take the title of an aquatic beast.

Blue and orange light briefly engulfing their bodies as they collided against the salt spray, they sunk like stones into the water.

Eyes enduring the test of sea water infiltrating the systems and purifying any diseases that may or may not have been carried in the sea water, the crew members showed teeth of white that took in deep gulpfuls of water.

And seeing as they suddenly gained slits on the sides of their neck that was similar in function and appearance to gills, the bloody sharks brought out guns that had a special gunpowder in them.

Gunpowder that was personally manufactured by Gunpowder Garry to work underneath the water alongside specially made guns.

*Swish Swish swish!

Columns of displaced water manifesting in the water as it made a bee line to the monsters of the deep, blood burst out from the center point of the shots.

White lines drawing blood with every shot, the Bloody Sharks instantly changed targets from the ones closest to them to the ones who were the weakest.

And in this case, like sharks in the water, they circled towards the weakened and wounded prey and shot round after round into their bodies.

That wasn't to say that the Guardians weren't reacting in the slightest as they turned to face the new enemies that wasn't so annoying.

Eyes glowing as bubble columns manifested and locked onto the Crew members, the Guardians eyes heated as they prepared to send out concentrated blasts of energy that would cook the average human alive.

Not if the First Mate had anything to say about it however.

[Nautilus's Shield]

Swirl shaped shell appearing around the crewmates where the white rays of heat death were located they briefly heated up as they absorbed the heat that the Guardians unleashed.

"And just like every day, I get to save your asses."

Voce echoing in the water the pot bellied man scratched his chin as the sea currents swriled around his body as an underwater flame lit up on his finger.

Placing a piece of weed into his mouth, the flame lit up in the water as the Sea Farers Kelp slowly cleared out his mind and surroundings.

Surroundings getting significantly brighter, the Crew members laughed boisterously in the water before conveying their intentions through the means of sign language.

"And just like everyday, we'll pay you back you old coot."

Rolling his eyes, the First Mate instead made his voice echo out in the water as he watched the captain get swarmed by a series of Guardians all the while columns upon columns of bubbles surrounded the captain.

Some his own, some not.

"Well if you got the time to argue with me, help me save the cap'n, he's gettin swarmed to death over there."

Thumbs up allaround, they agiley swam towards the captain and fired their bullets at the captain.

Leaving the First Mate behind, he curiously looked at the frozen sphere right before he shook his head and took the metaphorical air superiority and swam upwards before unleashing the sea currents visibly thrashing behind him.

Now moving at a speed that was now visible to the eye, the First Mate unleashed the condensed magic and burnt a path straight towards the Guardians in the form of water spears.

Right before his and the crew members movements suddenly dulled when a manifestation of a large grey skinned purple spiked Guardian much unlike the ones they currently faced circled their vision.

'!?'

Water spears arcing towards who knows where now that the First Mates focus had been disrupted, the First mate hurriedly tried to take back control of the water spears to no avail as a certain Ice sphere suddenly burst out with incredibly aggressive intent.

---

In the sea there were more than two dimensions that a fighter had to take note of.

Of course since two dimensional fights were much less taxing then that of the three dimensional ones they still mostly consisted of two dimensions.

But otherwise, inhabitants of the sea all knew the importance of the three dimensions.

And they all vied for 'air superiority'

Due to the nature of gravity, any attacks that consisted of throwing anything was feasible from up above to disrupt the enemies were effective.

This made things very easy for any magic caster of any school (Except the fire school save for a niche branch of boiling magic) to attack other species as the brainpower mostly saved for proppeling the spells through the air was now saved in just controlling the descent.

However, since this was the case for all magic casters, it was a no brainer to take the high ground in every fight.

This made it so that every being that took the 'air' was targeted almost immediately.

And that was the same case for the Elder Guardian which was previously content in just watching from behind like the old creep that it was.

Once idly watching a fight occur between the young ones and the intruders, the Elder Guardian finally couldn't hold back when it was made known that a magic caster of the Water school specifically of the sea branch had appeared.

Well, it tried to go up and attack until it was blocked by an explosion of ice which struck at its wounds right before drawing blood which suddenly burnt inside its body causing it to thrash around.

Forcibly turning its body to the source of the explosion, bloodshot eyes tinged with the color of fire glared at the source which stared back with glowing orange eyes.
