It felt cold and wet; when I awoke I found myself laying in a shallow pond. It was bright, the sun pressed up against my skin warming it up from the bitter cold of the water. It looked as though I was in the middle of a fairy tale forest. Yet there was no prince. I was alone.
"What is this place?" I said to myself getting on my feet.
I began walking around in hopes that I would find an exit. There were no people or animals not even bugs could be seen. There was however a small home, it looked like it was randomly place there a long time ago. There was greenery covering the entire place and it looked as though it could fall over with a gust of wind. It looked like a place you would normally stay away from, so of course, I went inside.
It was warm inside and the entire place was filled with a thick layer of dust covering everything within plain sight. It seemed like nobody had been here in several years.
While looking around I discovered an oddly familiar painting. There wasn't a specific image it was supposed to be, there was just a mesh of several dark colors and patterns. It had an eerie feel to it, I wanted to look away but as if I was in a trance my feet refused to leave. My eyes glued onto the painting, a sense of dread and mystery spread through my body. Where had I seen this before? My surroundings began to fade into the background, all of my senses were directed at the painting. My eyelids felt heavy yet they didn't close, my body felt hot yet the cold breeze could be felt, the smell of wet wood permeated my nose yet that too faded away. Everything was silent. I couldn't even hear my own heart beat. Then something, maybe a thought or a memory quickly passed through my head. I couldn't quite recall what it was but I remember hearing a faint female voice. Once again I was shrouded in complete darkness.
The faint female voice got louder but I was unable to understand what she was saying. She was speaking in a language I didn't understand. She sounded distressed, like she was trying to relay an important but didn't have enough time. Towards the end of her seemingly long message she said in clear english, "I promise that when the time is right you and I will be together again, this time forever. But I must go for now. I know you're too young to understand now but even if you forget my face and my voice just remember that I…" she faded out.
Remember what? Don't go! Who are you? What were you trying to tell me? I tried calling out yet my voice never left my body. And just like that she was gone. I wasn't able to see her face, all I have is her voice and her wish for me to remember something.
