Chapter 15 - Goblin Leader's Orb

Amidst the eerie, blood-soaked scene, Avi surveyed the monstrous goblins and their shamanic leader with a mix of horror and determination. The pungent odour of freshly pounded flesh lingered in the air as the grotesque leader received the macabre offering.

Grimacing, Avi's eyes narrowed, his mind racing to formulate a strategy. He turned to the system, seeking information to exploit the creatures' weaknesses.

"Ding!"

With the goblins relentlessly pounding flesh in the background, Avi knew he had to act swiftly. His gaze focused on the orb-wielding shaman, determined to neutralize the magical threat.

In a fluid motion, Avi activated his Cursed Touch (G) ability, feeling an ethereal energy coursing through him. Armed with the power to inflict curses upon his foes, he approached the grotesque leader. The leader, sensing an impending threat, barked orders to the goblins.

Avi, undeterred, lunged forward, aiming to strike the shaman with his enhanced melee abilities. His hand, infused with the power of Cursed Touch (G), connected with the shaman's tattered robe. A surge of dark energy enveloped the shaman as a curse took hold.

Yet, the goblins weren't idle. With surprising agility, they closed in on Avi, their massive size making them formidable adversaries. Avi relied on his agility and the assistance of his three undead skeletons to keep the goblins at bay.

The shaman, unaffected by the initial curse, retaliated with a burst of magical energy. Avi, using his Shadow Step (G), dodged the incoming attack, vanishing into the shadows and reappearing behind the goblins. The cursed touch had already weakened the leader's defences, allowing Avi to strike with precision.

His undead skeletons, armed with makeshift weapons, engaged the goblins, diverting their attention. Avi, seizing the opportunity, utilized his cursed abilities to strike at the heart of the shaman's power.

As the battle raged on, Avi's strategic brilliance came to the forefront. He danced between shadows, inflicting curses and coordinating attacks with his undead allies. The grotesque leader, now vulnerable, succumbed to the relentless onslaught.

However, the remaining goblins, fueled by rage, intensified their assault. Avi's undead skeletons fought valiantly, providing him with crucial moments to unleash his cursed touch on the relentless horde.

Amid the chaos, the shaman, weakened by curses, attempted a desperate magical assault. Avi, anticipating the move, executed another Shadow Step (G), evading the magical onslaught.

With a final, calculated strike, Avi delivered a curse-infused blow to the shaman. The leader crumbled, the magical energy dissipating into the air. The goblins, now leaderless, faltered in their aggression.

Breathing heavily, Avi surveyed the aftermath of the intense battle. His cunning strategy, combined with cursed abilities and undead companions, had prevailed against the grotesque creatures. Yet, as the echoes of victory subsided, Avi knew that darker challenges lay ahead in this otherworldly survival odyssey.

[You've earned two hundred gold by killing a goblin!]

[You've earned two Hundred gold by killing a goblin!]

[You've earned five hundred gold by killing a goblin!]

Notification after notification appeared in front of me but I didn't pay any attention to them.

-Thud!

"Huff...Huff...Huff."

Dropping on my knees I took a deep breath. I don't know why but I'm feeling very weak...

I didn't get hit by goblin shams either, so why?

As I was thinking about the cause of this a system window appeared in front of me.

Ding!

[You have a low amount of mana left.]

Ding!

[Your health is dripping.]

Ding!

[Mana: 30 / 270] [Health: 170 / 210]

I stared at the system notifications, my breaths coming in ragged gasps. The aftermath of the intense battle with the goblin horde left me physically drained, but the inexplicable drop in my mana and health bewildered me.

"Hey, system, explain why my mana and health are dropping," I demanded, my voice strained.

Ding!

[Your cursed abilities drained a significant amount of mana during the battle. Prolonged use without sufficient rest has led to mana depletion.]

Ding!

[The strain on your physical body, combined with curses and intense combat, resulted in decreased health.]

A wave of realization washed over me. The curses, the relentless melee combat, and the constant use of my cursed abilities had taken a toll on both my magical reserves and physical well-being.

"Huff... makes sense," I muttered, my body feeling heavier than before. I glanced around, taking stock of my surroundings. The eerie scene of the goblin massacre reminded me that survival in this new world came at a cost.

Ignoring the continuous stream of notifications, I assessed the situation. My undead skeletons stood vigilantly, having played a crucial role in the battle. The grotesque leader and its goblin minions lay defeated, their once menacing presence reduced to lifeless forms.

Scanning his surroundings, I sought any signs of potential resources. The grotesque remains of the goblin leader caught my eye, and a surge of hope filled me as I recalled the rewards he had earned from defeating the creatures.

"Let's see what I got," I mumbled, examining the goblin leader's remnants for any items that could aid his recovery.

[Obtained Goblin Leader's Orb]

The mysterious orb in the shaman's possession now lay in Avi's hands. Intrigued, he turned to the system once more.

"Ding!"

[The Goblin Leader's Orb possesses latent mana-restoring properties. When activated, it can replenish a portion of the user's mana.

Can be used only one time.]
