The evening after—loosening the engaged arms, Neva stretches them out.
"Finally..." Grateful she breathes out. She had just finished the assignment due the day after tomorrow. Saturday, a pretty rest from hectic lectures this day.
She yawns dizzily, a hand covering her mouth—the other hand wandering off in search of her phone. She glances at the screen, it was already six in the evening. Just at that brief moment her phone rings.
"Hello?!" Emma's loud, eager voice—through the phone reverbs around.
"Hi," Neva answers, keeping it two little letters.
"Wanna hang out?" Emma applies. "Tomorrow?"
"Where?" Neva asks.
"To the movies... To watch the Everlasting love!" She giggles in the end of the sentence.
"And? Just the movies?" Neva calmly inquires, resting her head on the palm propped up on the desk.
"We gonna party hard darling... best nightclub in Vernilla!" Enthusiasm filled in her resonance, Neva could make out her eyes sparkling in fancy.
Neva exhales deeply. "I can't Emma, I'll pass."
"What? Why?" Dissapointed whines storms out Emma's small mouth.
A small smile lines Neva's lips. "Nightclubs, they ain't my thing." She purses her lips, feeling upset she had to turn Emma's offer down.
She hardly ever even goes out, and morally did not enjoy such things.
"But why?" Persistent to good around with her new friend she insists.
"I'm sorry Emma. I'd rather be home." She smiles.
"You're really stubborn you know?" Emma huffs.
"Umm, I do." Droopy eyes closed, Neva almost slips to slumber.
"What about only the movies, and shopping. Is that fine?" Emma appeals once more.
"You don't have to miss out fun for me." Neva returns, straightening her back.
"Oh come on Neva. Please go with me. Okay? Pretty please..." Emma begs, hope brimming in her dulcet voice.
"Alright. I'll think about it," she chuckles, but an abrupt return from Emma prompts.
"You are not allowed to refuse!" She strongly states.
Before Neva could form another word, the ring on her doorbell informs her about a visitor.
"I'll call you later. There's someone on the door." She says standing up, heading towards the source of interruption.
"Good evening Angel." A handsome smiley Rhett like always appears in her doorway.
Neva nods at him, and scans his wellness throughout. She nods to herself again. He seems to be in a better health.
"For you." Rhett presents a bouquet of roses previously hidden in the back.
Neva was bewildered, her brows arched at his gesture. Little hesitation in her heart, she glances up from the roses to his eyes. His grin like a child.
Her favourite lucious red roses compares nothing to the man who held them. She fails to veil her smile, gladly accepting the flowers with rosy cheeks warming up.
It's new for her, this sudden feeling.
Flustered she clears her throat. "Is your wound okay?"
He flexes his biceps, his arms fisted. "Yep, I'm healthier than ever."
Neva smiles at him. Of course he was fine, look at his giddy vaunting.
"Come in." She let's the gap within the door widen—trudging inside the warmth of her living room.
He happily marches inside with Neva reminding him to close the door behind.
Neva places the bouquet of red roses on the table of her living room. "Did you get stitches?" She inquires.
"I did, just this morning." He says and Neva nods.
"But the doctor said I need to change the dressing couple of times a day." He pauses.
"But I don't know how to." He looks at her with such; innocent glowing eyes.
"I'll teach you.'' She calmly states.
"No! I'm scared. The stitches makes my mind blue." Big man was anxious of those stinky threads.
"Alright, I'll look after you, until the stitches are removed." Neva easily responds.
"Okay, I'll bring the equipments and come over here." He beams in happiness. More time with Neva, he looks forward to her care and the approaching treatments.
"No." Firmly she reacts.
"Then you come over." He suggests with a tilt of his head.
"He'll no." Firmly she returns.
"Then?" Asks the defeated guy, frowning, his shoulders slouching.
Neva bites her lips, he had to be settled for her care, but visiting his apartment was kind of weird.
"Alright you come over." What's worse, he comes over most of the time anyways.
Rhett grins like a child. And it makes her chuckle.
"I'll change the dressing then, wait here." She says.
Comfortable moments elapsed, Neva gets her job done. A happy jolly Rhett before her, tended to by his half girlfriend.
"Have you had dinner?" Neva suddenly asks him.
"Nuh-uh." Rhett shakes his head in refusal.
"Then I'll make something for us." She says, hopping towards her kitchen, leaving the silly boy behind.
