Chapter 11 - Double date

This night: Neva had send the unwilling Rhett back to his place—and now she's seated on her couch.

Phone in her hands, her finger swipes and taps. She looks for Emma's number to dial; for she had yet to close her hesitation.

"So you're going right?" As early as Neva had called her, Emma's enthusiastic voice curiously reverbs through the phone.

"What time did you say?" Asks Neva, dodging her question.

"4 pm!" Emma responds, she had been waiting to hear from her.

"Alright, but I won't wander around for long." Neva declares, clearing it up to her, she doesn't plan to roam about as late as the dark.

"Completely fine by me, we won't be out long anyway." Emma breathes a sigh of relief. She liked being around Neva, they had not yet bonded enough. She wished to take a pleasurable outing in the city with her new friend.

"And another thing, my boyfriend's tagging along.'' Emma adds, this one information had slipped her mind before. Hopefully Neva doesn't change her mind.

"Oh is it? Won't I be third wheeling you guys?" Neva frowns, not a great concept to be an extra wheel peeking through the two lovers on a date.

She thought Emma would be alone, how would she have known, the lover girl had preserved her boyfriend for the day.

"Goodness Neva, don't worry about it. You'll be fine, it'll be perfect." Emma assures her, she would never let Neva feel left out.

"I won't be a bother for you?" Neva hesitates, truly wishing to not tangle herself with the lovebirds on a date.

"No of course not. Say, why don't you bring your man along." Emma finds her lips forming a smirk. A strategy popping in her head.

"My man? Who might that be?" Neva crosses her arms, curious of Emma's sneaky mind.

"Rhett of course...come on it'll be a lot of fun. A double date—Ahhh I've always wanted that!" Excitedly she squeals.

Neva shakes her head, "Tsk Emma. Stop with your scheme. He won't be invited." Neva rolls her eyes, still uncomfortable with the word 'date' including Rhett.

"Why? Shy? I still don't get it! Why haven't you dated yet! You're a pair made in heaven." Emma giggles, mischieve in her heart, longing for her ship to sail.

"Shut up Emma. Either he goes or I go." Neva sternly warns her friend.

"What?! You can't do that!" Emma raises her voice, having Neva far the phone away from her ear. She brings the phone closer to her lips. "Choose Emma."

"Darling, definitely you. Just don't ditch me tomorrow alright?" She sighs, yielding to her friend's stubbornness.

"I won't." Neva answers.

"Then see ya tomorrow, bye...muah~" Emma sends a virtual kiss to Neva—causing her lips to curl up a foolish smile.

"Bye."

The day after: Rhett came over at 11 a.m for the new dressing on his wound. Surely Neva cooked him breakfast, and he had helped her with the dishes after.

She specifed the night before he could come in for a meal if he wishes to, and now he wouldn't have his food any other way.

On their little while together, he naturally accompanied her with his unvarying flirting, annoying the poor Neva. He then informed her about some work he had to get done, leaving the apartment soon after.

---

This evening: Neva's dolled up in a strappy long maxi, tropical vintage beige floral dress. And over her dress, a shield from the exposure of the skin, she garnished a knitted cardigan.

She sprinkles fresh natural make up over, enhancing her alluring features. Her pretty earrings, and further wishing accessories the finishing touch up before she heads out.

She strolls towards the garden park, the place Emma said they would come together.

Peaceful youths, children's laughters, the familiar mothers chitter and chatter, here and there they spare their gossip some seconds to glance over their naughty kids.

Green flora, brilliant coloured flowers, a lake—and the yellow and orange leaved trees that rounds it.

Her orbs veering around, earning in an all so beautiful scenery.

She dials Emma's number, she had peered around for a while, yet the eyes failed to perceive any trace of her.

"Hello, Neva." Emma's voice reverbs through the device.

"Emma where are you?" Neva asks her, awkwardly standing alone on the side.

"We're just some couple minutes away, please wait at the white bench near the lake!" Emma appeared to be in a haste. She abruptly hangs up on Neva, without sparing the latter another word.

Neva's lips forms a little pout, she already regrets leaving her cozy home. She saunters towards the lake in the south of the garden.

Sure enough, her gaze lands on a white victorian-styled bench.

But, there's a figure seated there. She reluctantly gets closer. Before her, was a clear frame of a man sitting on the bench—peering at the crystal azure lake. The evening sky, glancing over the rippling lake.

She furrows her eyebrows, she may know, this figure.

"Rhett?" Neva voices, standing at the far end of the bench. Heeding to her presence, he turns to look at her.

His eyes sparkling, at his angellic person.

'Heaven... Gorgeous!'

A black jacket—casually draped over his shoulder. And underneath, he had a plain white shirt, toning his legs were blue jeans.

This tall striking man may have every maiden on their knees. 'He's, handsome.'

Each of their flattering remarks safe inside their heads.

He stares at her, refusing to blink. Neva tilts her head, posing to have not notice of his unshattering stare, "Why are you here?"

His fore and middle fingers—stylishly placed over his lips, he surveys her from the hair to her strapped sandals with a short heel, a tasteful grin playing over the lips. "I was waiting for you."

"Why would you wait?" Asks the confused Neva.

"Why? Aren't we going on a double date?" He nonchalantly asks. And it hits her, that darned Emma. Her mouth twitches in an attempt to retort back.

"Hey Guys!!" A shrill, high pitched voice interrupts, leaving Neva's untold words hanging at the tip of her tongue. Emma approaches the two of them, sprinting and dragging a man behind.

"Sorry for making you wait!" She apologizes, and bends forward a little, hands on her thumping heart—breathing hard.

Neva crosses her arms, gazing down at her. "Explain!" She gestures at Rhett with her gaze.

Emma glances up at her, straightening her back. She stands there, amusement lacing her orbs.

"Goodness Neva...you look gorgeous!!" She brightly smiles, grabbing both of Neva's arms in excitement.

Neva glares at her, did she think her flatterings would make her less dissapointed?

Emma removes her hands away from her. "Oh. I'm sorry for not informing you earlier. But you are friends right? It's just a friendly date!" She makes Neva crease her brows.

"Except, you'd get mad if... you detest the idea of a friendly date." Emma smirks.Neva perplexed agapes her mouth, Emma's being evil.

On the other scene, the two removed men from the girls point of view exchanged their typical greetings. They were aquaintance, in a mere boss and employee way.

Initially Rhett wanted to refuse Emma, a rand girl calling him. She had sneaked the number from her boyfriend's contact list. All and everything she baited Neva. Why would he refuse?

---

At the theatre, the two pair of couples, each lady beside their gentleman, Emma and Neva, their eyes emmersed on the huge projection screen. Thirty minutes remaining—for the movie 'Everlasting Love' to come to an end. Zedd bored and asleep. The cleared eyed Rhett, admiring his Neva.

After they were concluded with the convincing movie, they headed out for a pleasurable shopping spree.

The genetlemen got to helping their ladies.

As they were purchasing around, the two couples slowly separates. Neva stucked with her half boyfriend.

"Did I tell you? You look extra dazzling today." Rhett compliments, his arms crossed and his head tilted. Neva replies him not, engaged in a mini adventure of finding a perfect dress—decorating in the layered hangers.

"Why did you even agree to Emma?" Neva inquires, peeling one after another of the dresses, having being not found her type of attire.

"Why? Don't you like my presence?" And he starts with the teases again.

"No!" Neva refuses to hesitate.

He frowns. "I like your company though." Poor Rhett innocently declares. Her heart skips a beat, and now his response makes her feel bad.

"You were stabbed, you should be resting stupid!" Neva murmeringly scolds, eyes finally secured on him.

He beams in happiness, "You are worried about me? Hmm...soon you'll be my girlfriend and I'll have you by my side every second, then you can heal me better."

Neva stares at him unbothered, "You wish?"

Winding up with the pattern of shopping, they visited a cafe. It was past six in the evening. In the west of the vast horizon, sun had layed down way ahead.

As they were heading out, mingled with the bustling, lightened up town, prepared to go home. Rhett caught an eye of a nearby flower shop, parallel to where they were.

"Wait here." He says, dashing accross the street, towards the shop of colourful hued flowers.

They stood there, waiting for him. And within a short while, Neva sees him approaching her with a bouquet of purple and white roses. He stretches the flowers towards her. Neva hadn't read him of doing that.

"Because you're the most beautiful woman in my eye." Rhett offers the blossoms, a sweet grin plastered on his thin lips.

Biting down on her lower lip, in an attempt to keep her lips from curving up, she gets the flowers. Her cheeks flushed like a peach.

The couple beside them, stands there astonished.

'Why weren't they a couple already??" Emma wonders to herself. They looked so perfect for each other. Perfect together.

Emma with proud eyes and happy smile pictures their approaching future in her mind.

Zedd never knew this side to Rhett. He was perplexed by the odd behaviour of his boss. His demeanour was completely different today.

Though Rhett rarely visited the workshop, he was known to be cold and serious. Today seemed like a lie to him. Magic of love, sure was great at it's job.

Then Emma realised, something's off, she glares at her boyfriend. The guy feels a chill run down his spine as he turns his head at the source. He's not able to fortell the anger in her eyes.

They part ways and saunter towards their own path; with a guy getting nagged behind.
