Chapter 26 - Chapter 24: Have a taste of this

As the dust settled, I could see the eagle struggling to stand. It didn't look as imposing as it had a few minutes ago. Both of its wings were now completely busted it had damaged its other wing on its crash.

Caw!

It let out an indignant sound.

"Charge" I said from the top of Kalibre's head. She charged forward the wind threatening to cut my face due to how fast she was moving.

As we got closer though the eagle though, it opened its beak wide.

Caw!

A torrent of violent wind travelled together with its cry like an air cannon. I barely registered before the air cannon knocked into me. Throwing me 20 meters off Kalibre's head.

"Keep going! Urgh!" I shouted as I used 'Break' to cancel out the rest of the attack. As I landed on the ground a cracking sound reached my ears before pain came from my right leg.

Without a doubt it was broken now too.

"Dammit! I eat that bird if it's the last thing I'll do!" I cursed under my breath

45 seconds passed, 15 seconds remaining for Kalibre's summon.

Kalibre used her large body to wrap around the eagle like a boa constrictor she squeezed with her might as she sent a signal to Lydia who was standing beside Ms. Camille about 10 meters away they had naturally seen me fly over them but they kept going as I asked.

"Now!" Lydia shouted and immediately Ms. Camille got to work

She activated her skill 'Sonic cry' and immediately a wave of concentrated sonic waves travelled forward.

The eagle was struggling against Kalibre's crushing strength as she continued to squeeze with her serpent body. It felt its bones creaking due to the weight of Kalibre's strength. It wriggled its body as it struggled whichever way it could.

53 seconds, 8 seconds remaining for Kalibre's summon

Caw! It cried. How could this be happening? It had recently stepped into the second star existence it was practically an overlord in this area at level 20 and yet it was losing to three humans who were barely level 10!

As it continued to struggle a wave of sonic energy knocked into it completely disorienting it and making it falter for a moment giving Kalibre more room to tighten her hold.

Just when it seemed like the eagle would have its bones crushed

[60 seconds have passed. Summon has ended. Cooldown time: 4 hours]

"No!" Lydia exclaimed as Kalibre disappeared in a flash of green light. The eagle was free once more and it looked angry.

Opening its beak it prepared to release an air canon

I endured the pain in my chest and leg as I fell deep in thought. It was clear that with the distance I definitely wouldn't be able to make it on time especially with my broken leg.

We had about 10 seconds before Kalibre's time ended so this was a tight pinch

"Hmm…if only I had a long range skill" I muttered under my breath. "Wait a minute"

--Infirmary-2 hours ago--

I was in the middle of wrapping up the wound Lydia got from the wasp during our brief but deadly battle when I suddenly thought of something

"Hey what was that skill you used to distract the wasp that time. It didn't look like an elemental attack?" I asked

"You mean Magic bullet?"

"Yeah"

"Well I'm not particularly sure what a skill is but I guess you could call it a tier one basic spell that all who practice magic learn as a first lesson" she explained

Tier one basic spell? My mind couldn't help but recall the description on my skill [Break]

[Break {Level 3 Unranked}-The user has the ability to break the circulation of mana in any spell the host touches. It utilizes the anti-magic element of mana to achieve this (Note skill level too low to affect magical attacks at higher than tier 2)

[Consumes- 10 mana points upon each activation]

It could affect spells tier two and below. Now from what I understand now Active skills are like the gate way to learning these spells related to the element of said skill. Take my skill [Break] at this point it opens the door to my path in Anti-magic.

If magic bullet was the basic spell of magic then Break was the basic 'spell' towards Anti-magic.

Makes perfect sense right?

--Back to the present—

"Gather the mana I have to a single point. Visualize. Concentrate and release"

"Gather mana. Visualize. Concentrate. Release"

I repeated in my head like a mantra. My arm was extended outwards-with the tip of my middle finger and forefinger- aiming forward where the second star eagle could be seen making another attack. Mana gathered at my fingertips and a faint blue glow could be seen as the mana continued to accumulate.

This was different from the usual magic bullet because it was supposed to be imagined and shot out on the spot in the shape of a bullet but what I was doing was something else instead of having the magic bullet really look like a magic bullet why not change it up a little.

Right at my fingertips a small blue orb of energy was growing at first it was the size of a fingernail but as I continued to add my remaining mana points it grew to be the size of a baseball. My face paled at the abrupt loss of mana and I could feel a wave of dizziness come over me but I bit my lip and stood strong.

Mana points rapidly dropped from 40 to 30 and in less than ten seconds I had only 2 mana points left

'Have a taste of this birdbrain'

"Magic Cannon"

Bzzzz!

A large beam of pure magical energy shot forward. Searing the air at extremely hot temperatures. As it travelled towards the eagle at a speed comparable to that of a bullet from a gun.

The eagle's mouth was wide open and it was in the middle of producing another wind attack. Lydia and Ms. Camille closed their eyes expecting the inevitable but the eagle's movements froze suddenly before it whipped its head forward it was looking beyond the two girls.

A great amount of magical energy was heading towards it at a pace too fast for it to react and before it knew it the [Magic cannon] bore right through its forehead snuffling out its life instantly. The once powerful second order eagle. The small overlord of this area dropped dead like a sack of potatoes with a gaping hole in its head.
