Chapter 30 - Chapter 28: Revealing the truth

"Argh" a groan escaped my lips as I felt the ache my body was feeling. I felt irritated with an unbearable itch especially where I was injured which was my leg, arm and chest.

"Huey!" I heard voices beside and as I looked up three distinct faces were floating above my face. I could help but smile when I recognized them as Jordan, Lydia and Rina.

"This better not be heaven" I tried to joke but my voice ended up coming out pained which caused them to look at me with concern. "You guys don't have to worry too much okay. I'm alright now"

I tried to assure them but that didn't work especially considering that I still had a large gash across my chest and I must say it was irritating as hell. It itched and so much that I thought of clawing at it with my hand but I refrained myself from doing so.

Jordan also looked at my chest wound and his eyes widened.

"Bro what is…this?" he asked with an incredulous expression. Hurriedly I looked down as well afraid that something was wrong well…something else apart from the huge wound on my chest. What I saw though was even more shocking.

On a closer look I could see lumps of fresh or cells-whatever rolls your boat I guess…coming together visibly building on top of one another. Instinctively I could tell that this was my body healing at a visible pace!

My mind was blown by this and I wracked my head. 'Could it be?'

[Health: 120]

I thought about it carefully but if I wasn't wrong then the health stat was related to my life and literally my health and what were the characteristics of health?

Cell growth, tissue repair, life expectancy, etc.

So if I thought about it more then the higher my Health stat was the faster my regeneration would be right?

I sighed and looked at my chest. Complicated emotions couldn't help but surface in my mind. This level of regeneration would have been nigh impossible before the apocalypse and an injury like this would have taken at the very least a month to heal but looking at it now it would heal in approximately seven to ten days. My broken leg could heal in about two weeks but my arm…

I looked at my left arm. I could feel the bones that had been fractured and almost crushed to dust, though they were also healing, they would take about a full long month!

As incredible as this was that I could heal faster, it just didn't feel fast enough. How was I supposed to just stay still and recuperate for a month that was borderline impossible especially with how chaotic the world was out there.

As I thought my mind suddenly drifted towards the beautiful lady who used to be the school nurse.

"What?" Rina asked me curiously

"How many times can you use your First aid skill?" I asked her curiously.

"Well…as I am right now I could probably be able to use it for about four times before exhausting my mana completely" Rina said.

"What why do you ask?"

She looked at me curiously.

"Well I am gravely injured am I not?" I smiled and immediately I saw a glint flash through her eyes.

"Of course! I heal you right now!"

"Okay then I need you to use all your heals on my broken arm" I stated and immediately Rina got to work. With her arm stretched over my broken arm she silently activated her skill and a faint green glow enveloped my arm. Almost immediately, I felt a warm sensation flood into my arm and my cells felt invigorated as they felt a boost of energy. They speed up their regeneration process.

It was a significant boost and coupled with my high health stat…well you know what I mean. The itching and irritation grew as a small part of bone was reforming. The effects of Rina's skill wore off after 3 seconds but I was still satisfied nonetheless.

"I can feel it…its working!" I said excitedly. "Keep going"

Rina nodded vigorously as she activated her skill again.

After three more activations of her skill. Rina had depleted all her mana and her face was as white as a sheet. She was resting weakly on the floor.

"Thanks Rina" I said to her.

A quarter of my bones in my upper arm had reformed and if things went on like this then I could probably heal in about two weeks time which was a better result.

"Your welcome"

Rina's face beamed with a smile regardless of her weakness.

"Man I wonder what you did to have these beauty acting like this" Jordan whined.

"Oh you know how it goes man just save a damsel in distress" I shrugged

"…Well I did but I don't know about that" Jordan said softly

"Anyway…How long was I out?" I asked.

"About two hours" Jordan

Silence reigned over us before Jordan decided to break it.

"Mind telling me how this happened?" Jordan asked after what seemed like an eternity.

"Heh…well…" I proceeded to tell him about how the three of us got out of the main school block and into the open with the purpose of getting to the gym but along the way we found the corpse of a massive beetle. How it shocked us that someone could even kill something like that.

"So you were shocked eh?" Jordan had a smug look on his face. "Wanna know who killed it?"

I nodded curiosity taking its hold on me.

"I killed it"

My mind went numb for a moment. "E-excuse me y-you killed it?"

"Yeah" Jordan then proceeded to tell me his story about when he just woke up, how he save some survivors and even how he gained his gauntlets. Jordan didn't hide anything at all and it was starting to make me feel a bit guilty inside.

While Jordan started from the very beginning I had merely started from the middle.

I took several breaths to organize myself and when Jordan finished

"Alright buddy I want to tell you something okay?" as I said that I didn't notice how shaky my voice was being at the moment.

Jordan could tell something was troubling me in fact he had felt something was wrong from the very moment he found Billy's presence missing.

At first he wanted to ask what had exactly happened, where their best friend was and why he wasn't he but he decided to keep those questions to himself and wait until Huey was ready.

It seemed that time had arrived and Jordan steeled his heart. Preparing for the worst
