Nikolai was pacing up and down the walkway, outside Princess Athena's bed chamber. He had been wanting to speak to her since she came back from meeting with King Orion.
But, she had been avoiding him. The moment they returned to Hemlock Mansion, Athena had him reassigned. Sir Daric took charge of her personal safety and he was left with guard duty.
He thought to himself.
He had tried asking Sir Daric, but the knight was tight-lipped. Nikolai even tried getting Jackel to find out any information he could.
Still, it turned up empty-handed.
He remembered their last conversation together. There was nothing out of the ordinary. But the moment she came out of the king's study, he knew something must have happened.
Now, after almost two weeks, the princess was finally allowed out of her room. Nikolai took the opportunity at once.
