Chapter 30 - New Skill

The bike's engine roared as Betty put no stops in the acceleration part and she quickly changed the gears while Larcen wore his bag in reverse for easy access to ammo.

As soon as the bike was close to the monsters, Betty made a sharp U-turn which made Larcen hold onto her clothes in a very awkward position as he sat facing backward, his back touching hers.

She said nothing but as the bike stabilized, Larcen aimed both his guns at the creatures and fired as accurately as he could, trying to injure as many as he could in the process.

Many goblins fell along with the Banshees but the Lizardmen seemed to be able to take many of the bullets which showed the effectiveness of their skill. Larcen ignored the Lizardmen and shot the others as he did not want to waste his bullets.

The bike wasn't too fast but it was at a speed where the monsters could run behind them without falling behind.

Larcen emptied the magazines and reloaded the guns as the empty magazines fell to the ground. He didn't care about the wastage as there was something more important to do at the moment.

He continued emptying the magazines but he suddenly heard an ear-piercing wail that made his head hurt but that was only him. He felt the bike wobble a bit before it tilted sideways, crashing onto the ground.

Larcen jumped off the bike before rolling to scatter the impact and got up before he continued to shoot. This time he did not try to be accurate and fired randomly, trying to stop as many monsters as possible.

The empty magazines fell and he picked new ones to reload as he turned to look back.

Betty was down on the ground, unconscious while the bike was a meter away from her. There were large bloody wounds on her arms and legs but that was all.

'She should be fine.... one regeneration pill should be able to heal her up but for now, it's better if she stayed down.', he thought as he turned front to face the group.

He continued emptying the magazines and this time, he threw the bag away and brought the new magazines from his inventory instead. He ran into a different street as he reloaded and shot at them.

Once the ammo was out, he reloaded again, but this time, he did not shoot. Instead, he ran through the different streets, jumped over walls, and climbed houses before coming back to his original location.

'These bastards! Just like I predicted...', he thought as he sent his guns into his inventory before pulling out a machete that was a few inches longer than his older one and jumped down towards the group that was approaching Betty while crawling.

All of them were injured and since they couldn't chase him, they went for Betty who was out cold. He brought the machete down, cleanly slicing off the head of the banshee before using his other machete to slash at the torso of the nearest goblin.

All of them were like meat on a chopping board as most of them were heavily injured and could barely fight. Larcen glanced at the screen which showed the number below the skill chest and grinned.

"8 more....", he muttered as he wiped the blood away from his shirt before turning to look at Betty who was still unconscious. He picked her up and walked towards one of the cars nearby and put her in before covering the windows with the shirts in his inventory by using the nails. He poked a few holes for ventilation and walked away, hoping that she survived.

He picked up the bike and switched gears to neutral before going to the first and so on. He knew how to ride a bike but it was theoretical knowledge as he could not inherit Jake's experiences and only got his memories.

The bike accelerated and he slowly switched gears, trying to get used to it while he rode it towards the center again. This time, he wasn't scared or nervous and instead was extremely excited as he saw 2 feet tall hulking monster that was groggily crawling on the ground.

He brought out his machete and slashed at it while still on the bike, only to lose both control and balance as he did so. The mutated monster's head flew but so did Larcen. He rolled as soon as he made contact with the ground only to feel something extremely hard bump into his back.

He rolled over to the other side by instinct before jumping back up as he took a good look at the thing that had bumped into him. It was one of the Lizardmen and he had his spear pierced into the ground.

Larcen simply took out his gun and pulled the trigger before looking around. He saw a few more mutated monsters and ran towards them hurriedly as he knew that the other monsters would get to his location due to the sound.

'Four more....'

His machete sped towards the mutated monster that was lying on the ground and he simply ran to the next one as he ignored the rolling head while opening his system screen.

He clicked on the chest that had its bar filled and the next moment, he saw a new notification along with an extra skill on his main screen.

{You have successfully acquired Common Skill: Sun's Child}

{You have successfully opened your first Skill Chest. Reward acquired x1 replica slot.}

{Skill will be automatically added to the replica slot.}

Passive Skill:

Sun's Child: The user receives a 10% resilience and stat buff when the sun is up.

"That is not something useful in my current situation for god's sake! But opening chests is fun....", he muttered as he beheaded another mutated monster and continued to the others.

It took him only one minute to kill every creature in the vicinity before he jumped on top of a car nearby and pointed his gun at the sky as he stared at the tower before pressing the trigger repeatedly, emptying the magazine.
