Chapter 27 - Chapter Twenty-Four: Palace of Fire

"Keep up," Ilor called out to her.

She dug her heels harder into the earth. He just laughed and pulled on her harder.

"Where are you taking me?" Rara snapped.

"I didn't really need a place in your castle," He grinned. "I have my own place."

Rara tried to hide her disappointment and fear. She'd hoped they'd go back to the castle, back to where her allies were.

"Don't worry my bride, you'll like it," Ilor sounded more genuine, "I've been preparing it for you for centuries."

"What about my daughter," Rara demanded.

"I'm sure Leafy will take care of her," Ilor tossed out.

Rara started to pull away from him, "I won't leave her! Let me go!"

Ilor's stare got icy, "Remember what I said."

Rara stopped fighting, she stared back at him with venom, "You're a monster, wait till my sisters find out! Or my father!"

Ilor started to laugh, and then he tugged Rara with more strength and pulled her underground.

For some time Rara was dragged downhill until they entered a massive cave. Sitting in a pool of lava was a massive dark castle. It loomed over the both of them, gleaming with black stone.

"How do you like your new home," Ilor asked.

In response Rara spit on the ground.

"Perhaps a tour will change your mind," Ilor smiled wickedly.

Rara was made to walk the halls. The rooms were mostly bare, and the place seemed empty. When they reached the throne room only two thrones sat there. Ilor took his place and shoved Rara into hers.

"Can't you feel it?" He sighed in bliss.

Rara felt nothing.

"We were made for this place," Ilor closed his eyes.

The moment he wasn't looking Rara made a run for it. She sprinted for the exit as fast as she could. That's when she tripped and fell. She felt pain as she was dragged back into the throne room.

"A pity," Ilor flicked the ash from her hair, "I thought we were past this. Which of the children shall I burn?"

"None," Rara shouted.

Ilor got into her face and spoke in a low tone, "You like to think you're so tough, but I can see right through you."

He grabbed her by the hair and threw her in a cell, "I'll let you chill out for a few days, then we'll see who is the leader here."
